I broke down with a broken chain 3 blocks away at 5:50pm. I get to their door at 5:59, they let me in, get me on the rack. They didn’t have a 9-speed chain in stock, so they put in a power link and got me riding again. Took 10 minutes and $ 5. 5/5, would break down near again.

This is the spot for bike parts, service, or new bicycles. They carry quality bikes at a reasonable price. If you’re tired of Walmart bikes that fall apart, but don’t want to pay top of the line prices, stop here. If you need parts for anything, they probably have it in stock.

Me and my husband just took our bikes there to get fixed, they were real friendly and answered all our questions and concerns. Their prices seemed very affordable and we felt comfortable leaving our bikes with them.

It’s certainly not the fanciest bike shop in town, but that’s its charm. Fridrich is affordable and staffed by friendly and helpful people. It’s a perfect shop for a casual rider, and more serious riders can often find surprising bargains there for things like high-end tires and other miscellaneous parts. Great shop.

We came to see Cleveland and thought the wide flat roads would lend themselves well to touring by bike. These folks gave us a good deal on a multi-day rental, including locks and helmets. We covered a ton of ground and had a blast!

Fridrich’s is AMAZING. I took my ancient Raleigh Tourist bike in Saturday. I needed new tubes for the 28 inch tires(was told by another bike shop in Ohio city that there is no such thing(!)). They replaced the tubes, fixed a piece on the gears and while I waited for ONLY30 minutes on a very busy Saturday afternoon I had great chili at Palookaville next door. Antwan knew all about the Raleigh factory which used to employ 7000 in Nottingham until it sadly shut down in the late 1970’s. He even showed me where to find the date for my bike. 1975 I also bought a seat for my Breezer which they assembled for me for free! Everything including labor and historical information cost less than the parts would have cost on the Internet. If you need bike repairs go directly to Fridrich’s!!!

this place only has 2 reviews? there were so many people in and out of here when i was there today! although, not to stereotype, but most of them didn’t look like to computer savvy Unilocaler type. i recently got a new bike off craigslist and needed to make some adjustments. firstly my tires needed air and seat needed to be lower, and one of the guys there kindly pumped my tires and adjusted my seat. my bike is a road bike with drop handles and i had been thinking about flipping it over and cutting the bars to make them bullhorns. i was going to get all the parts and do this myself, but who knew when i would actually get around to it, plus i don’t really have any tools :(so i was referred to jeff, who is the road bike guy. when i came in he was balancing on his single speed road bike chatting with someone. this was the guy to talk to! he said, no problem! let me go take this bar off and see where we can cut it. he mentioned something about how it was sort of his hobby turning road bikes into single speeds, and so he took some time to explain that whole process to me. long story short, he took off the original levers and handlebar tape, cleaned up the adhesive, cut the bars into bullhorns, put on the new levers(which required some customization bc they were a bit big), and also installed the new bike seat that i had decided to pick up while i was walking around waiting for the rest of the work to get done. side story — another guy who worked there told me i should go get a chili dog and there was a great place for a chili dog down the street. i decided to go out for a stroll, not for a chili dog tho bc i am vegetarian, and actually ended up finding a place with vegetarian chili that was right next door! awesome! anyway, all in all, i walked out spending more on upgrades than i had planned to, but i got a discount on an open package item and the other items were very competitively priced. i was so happy with all the work(and that they weren’t going to charge me for the labor for the over two hours i was there getting everything adjusted)!! this is my new favorite place. like the other reviewer said, they were so friendly and knowledgeable and not trying to sell you a bunch of crap you don’t need. i will have to go back to get some adjustments to the levers i think, and i’ll probably pick up a couple more things while i’m there — toe clips are on the list!

So wait… your not going to try to sell me a bunch of crap I don’t need? And your going to give me the best price on parts accessories and labor in the city? Aaaaand your going to do this all while being friendly and knowledgeable? Where am I?! Oh Fridrich’s Bike shop where else! So here it is. I live downtown and absolutely love to ride my bike in the summer. Whether it be to Progressive Field to catch a ball game, W25th for some fresh groceries from the West Side Market. Or down to the Jacobs Pavilion for a live show on the Cuyahoga River, if its summer I’m headed there on two wheels. Doing this means never having to worry about traffic, parking fees, cab fare or any other inconvenience that comes with driving in the city. You see with gas prices on the rise many in Cleveland are(slowly) waking up to the idea of the bike as a viable mode of transportation for at least a couple months out of the year.
But every so often one may need an accessory or minor repairs done to keep your wheels a rollin. This is where Fridrich’s comes in to play. Whether it be a tough theft proof lock in order to avoid the PEEWEE Herman esque stolen bike moment, Or a nice bright bike light to ensure the buses can see you from a mile away or simply an tune up to get that old cruiser you found at a yard sale up and running again they’ve got you covered. I once ended up with a flat while riding from Nicks Diner and walked my bike over to Fridrich’s and purchased the tire and inner tube at an awesome price and they even put it on free of charge and had me up and running in under 25 minutes without an appointment! This is the beauty of this shop. They know not all of us are looking to spend a fortune on a bike nor do we all need the latest technology only to have it stolen the moment we lose eye contact with our bike. They understand that some of us just want to ride and will help you do this at the best price possible. Ive never felt i was being up sold or taken advantage of in fact Ive frequently seen many of the employees out riding on the same streets I ride. Hell half of the staff ride to work! You wouldn’t by a car from a car sale man who doesn’t drive and i sure wouldn’t buy a bike or bike accessories from someone who doesn’t ride bikes. So get out and get riding and keep Fridrich’s in mind for all your cycling need. They’ve been around for over 128 years and we all know nothing survives that long in this city without being the best.

Am I the only one who realizes and utilizes the awesomeness of Fridrich’s? Well, I’m the only one who shares her love on Unilocal. Not only have they been around forever, but they’ve been doing it up right since the beginning. Everything I’ve ever purchased from here was a great deal with a side of knowledgeable, honest staff. Most recently, a three bike car rack for less than $ 100 – lifetime warranty, too! Mind you, almost every other shop was trying to sell them for $ 140 and up for just two bikes. They also helped find me a helmet that doesn’t have girlie crap all over it, thank god. I really don’t think I should have to suffer through pink butterfly decals just because I’m a woman. Tacky. I got a nice, white, normal helmet. The staff member who was helping me took time to chat with my and gave me tons of helpful hints. He’s been a serious biker his whole life and taught me all about keeping equipment on hand to fix a flat, good bike lights, etc. But, what made this even cooler is that he didn’t push the sale of any of these things on me. He just listened to what I wanted and gave me lots of free knowledge. Oh, and they love the guys at Joy Machines, who I also love! Local biz supporting local biz, man! That’s what I’m talkin’ bout!
