Pretty yummy treats. The service was kinda meh and confusing for a first timer. The coffee and tea service is real cute though.

Macaroons are pretty good but service is sort of bad. They are rushing around a lot instead of helping you when you walk in the door. Every time i order one of their fancy desserts(not macaroons) i am always dissapointed. Everything sounds amazing, but it never is really good. Also it’s waaay overpriced here. Stick to the macaroons.

I wish I could give different ratings for different areas of the review… Service=2 at best. This is a small shop, so I really expected friendlier prompt service. We stood waiting with no one in front of us way too long… maybe not enough staffing? We just didn’t feel welcomed. Food variety=3 I was underwhelmed with the choices, again this is a small shop but a whole display was empty. Food quality=5 The macaroons were amazing… just perfect. Sweet and savory varieties, wonderfully chewey. We also had the oysters and they were so fresh and delicious. The french press was good as was the tea.

I’m not a macaron expert, but the macarons here were okay. I tried the Framboise, Dark Chocolate, and Pistachio. My favorite was the Pistachio by far. The Dark Chocolate tasted a bit stale instead of the rich, decadent chocolate flavor I was expecting. The Framboise wasn’t framboise-y enough. The employee helping me wasn’t the most friendly which soured my experience. Seeing from other reviews, it seems like it’s a recurring pattern and not just my personal experience. I felt rushed as she kept tapping her fingers impatiently on the counter as I was making my decision, and I had to repeat my order three times because she kept messing up my order. Overall, the macarons were decent, and the café itself seemed pretty cool, but the service really turned me off.

I had my first visit here this past weekend with my parents. I’m from out of town… so I don’t know the Cleveland scene too well but on a Saturday night, it was not too welcoming, cases were empty, and bartender was a bit awkward. Kind of an uncomfortable environment. The window to the back storage room was the most awkward… My dad(who was sitting in front of the window to this room) had florescent lights in his face all night and we had a nice view of the staff texting and boxes of cereal. It’s a nice idea… But not sure how well it is executed. Drinks were fine but nothing special and the staff didn’t interact with us at all. I didn’t try the food so I can’t speak to that. Definitely prime real estate so I hope we just visited on an off night!

Coquette has become my favorite little spot– seriously come here the first chance you get. It is SO stinking cute & unique. I could go everyday. They have the best french press coffee(even offer almond milk as creamer) with the most decadent macaroons I have EVER tasted. When you bite into them, you get a slight crunch that turns into a soft texture that is just to die for and the flavor is mouth watering. I want to try every flavor but have to hold myself back! I love to come here to read and relax while enjoying their tasty treats or spend a little time with my husband because he can’t get enough of it either! Oysters and cheese/meat trays accompany the menu, as well as quiche and various pasties and beverages(yummy champagne & beer options.) It is just absolute perfection. I cannot wait to go back and take friends.

Went yesterday and bought macaroons, chocolate triomphe, and le bonbon. High quality and wonderful taste. Very beautiful pastries! Employee was very pleasant to talk with. Authentic French pastries. We will return!

I love this place. Hadn’t heard of it before tonight. Walking past, I decided that their pastries looked like they warranted a second look. Well, my friend and I were pleasantly thrilled by the selection of homemade desserts, their cheese board, and their tea and alcoholic drink selections. The french press decaf coffee was tasty, as was their german style cheesecake. My friend enjoyed her hibiscus tea and though her pear flavored dessert was a mite bit too sweet, it might have been tempered properly with a more bitter beverage. I’m planning on making this a place to visit on late evenings in the future, now that I know that it’s there. It’s a perfect after dinner stop.

If I still lived on the east side, I would be poor from buying $ 13 champagne at Coquette. Luckily, I live across town so I only get to enjoy it every once in awhile and can still pay my rent. Really though, having a selection of nice champagne is not something most places do in Cleveland. I very much appreciate the options and selections here. They have great hot tea and also a fantastic selection of craft beer(that I like! Like Belgians!) The desserts are obviously meant to be the star and everything I’ve had has been great! But the tea and champagne are why I go across town, not even gonna lie.

This is the French patisserie of Cleveland and the coquette of French patisseries. Yes they are flirting with you. Coquette is unique in that it’s intensely beautiful and contains some refreshing wittiness(most likely inspired by Shane Culey, Owner and Cheerman of the Bored) to break up the stark class of a typical French patisserie. It has less of the classic, fine French patisserie style and more of a rugged French patisserie style. Which is nice, actually. They also excel in food quality. The Maple Bourbon macaron was easily the second-best macaron I’ve ever placed on my tongue. The texture was perfect which would make it worth it with no flavor at all; but the maple and bourbon taste combination made it more than divine. They have some drinks too. I guess. I’m only assuming that the bottles and the menu weren’t only decorations. I have a macaron eating habit, but not a wine drinking habit so I didn’t try any. I thought about spending my $ 7 on a Bonita Apple Bomb but decided instead to go to Piccadillys next door and spend it on a couple spoonfuls of ice cream. On to that review…

This place is truly amazing. I felt like Alice walking into a Wonderland of perfectly crafted desserts. Their desserts are works of art with every detail meticulously set. They taste just as good as they look. I had the Opera and two different macaroons. There aren’t many good places to get French Macaroons in Cleveland, but these rank at the top. They are soft and the cream filling tastes fresh, not artificial like other places I’ve had them. I didn’t get to try any of their drinks, but I like the idea of having a glass of champagne or beer with my pastries. Check their Facebook periodically for specials and macaroon flavors. They must have 200 flavors, so there will always be something new.

First off, I wasn’t able to sit down and have a dessert and drink here as I was having to drive about 7 hours to visit relatives, so I can’t comment about drinks or extended service. I will say that the woman at the counter was very patient with me as I took my time admiring the various goodies in the display case. I was the only person in there at the time since it was within the first 30 minutes of when they opened. I left with four different and impressive looking desserts and I put the box they came with in a cooler for the long drive. I was excited they made it the whole trip, even through the bumpy construction and 95 degree outside temperate. Everyone really enjoyed the selection of desserts I brought and it made me look like a total rockstar! I guess I’ll be bringing some of these home each time from now on!

I came here a while back and everything was fine. However, I have been here a few times since and I feel the need to update my review. I stopped in the late afternoon for a drink(it was in the upper 80’s, weather-wise) and it was terribly disappointing. 1. The service was… for lack of a better term, missing. The two gentlemen working out front both seemed to just not want to be there. No smiles, no welcome. The one guy was just perfunctory(minimal, half-hearted, mechanical, whatever you want to call it.). Whatever it was, it was not projecting«cool». If you want to play it cool and not give good service, your product had better knock it out of the park. 2. As a customer, instead of feeling welcome, you feel as if you are interrupting something, or as if you’ve caught the place unprepared. 3. Zero cold drinks. In summer. Unless you want chilled wine or champagne. Which they did not suggest to me when I asked what they had cold drinks. I got a «we don’t, like, have anything cold.» When I asked about purchasing water(bottled) I received a gesture to the downright tepid tap water dispenser to the side of the counter on a little cart/table. The glasses on the cart were smudgy and the water I dispensed had something floating in it. 4. Cream. It was in a small, steel pitcher on the cart next to the tepid water. This place has been open for hours. The water next to it was warm… I think you know where I’m going with this. Smh. 5. Wilted flowers at every table. I mean, «these things are starting to smell» wilted. No macaron or pastry offered here can make up for the«Je m’en moque» attitude. It’s just not that good. If this place was a person, it’s likely s/he would hear«get over yourself», and often at that. If you come here, be advised that the staff can’t be bothered.

An incredibly cute, chic pastry chop near case western’s campus. I was searching for a local coffee shop and stumbled upon this place. Though I was in the mood for a latte, this café was more so a pastry /wine bar rather than coffee shop. I split the 20 oz coffee with 2 other friends and was truly impressed. A beautiful presentation of the coffee pot, mugs, and a brewing timer to ensure the perfect cup of coffee. I’m not used to drinking black coffee, but I loved it here. The dessert and macaron selection was incredibly hard to resist. I went for a honey hops macaron and shared a chocolate mousse tart. The tart was light, fluffy, and the perfect amount of sweetness. I wasn’t a huge fan of the macaron(mostly due to the hops), but I could tell the quality of the macaron was on point. I didn’t have much time to spend, or else I could see myself spending a whole afternoon reading and enjoying the atmosphere of this café. The day was quite hot or else I would have grabbed a seat outside on their patio. The café items are a bit pricey, but I’d pay for this quality any day. It was truly a treat, and I’m sure I’ll be back again!

Came here for the macarons. They were quite good. I chose the hop & honey flavor and strawberry. The people working in this place were not very friendly and made me feel like I was being a bother. I asked for bottle water and they didn’t have any, but I’m sure they could’ve gotten me some tap water. However, I wasn’t offered any. I would give this place four stars for just the macarons alone, but since the service was butts it loses a star.

On our trip to Cleveland this place was a must stop! We heard about it through an Instagrammer and I’m glad we went! In fact, I wish there was one in Pittsburgh! We just tried the macarons and were impressed. I wished we had time to have a seat, drink a glass of champagne and eat the macarons there but it was our last stop before heading home. The décor was perfect… so fancy and French(in a way that’s not what I would say made me feel like I was in France, but felt like a perfectly French-themed place). I hope to return for a longer visit soon!

I tend to «eat with my eyes first.» To clarify, my eyelids don’t have teeth. But you know what I mean. These French pastries are not only divine in taste, but visually stunning. Yesterday I planned a French-themed, day-date to celebrate my mother’s existence(thanks for being born Mom!) She just got back from visiting Paris and Bordeaux, so I figured a stop at the very popular Coquette Patisserie was the perfect way to begin our day. And, if anything, we could find out if these macarons were truly the real deal – as most NEO versions I’ve tried have been crunchy atrocities. Ermahgerd. These are the real thing – FINALLY! I watched my mom’s face light up as she bit into the first of the 4 flavors we tried. I joined in with equal delight as she exclaimed, «Cara – these are just like they are in France!» And while I’ve never traveled overseas to try them in person, I know to expect a chewy, soft, light cookie that blends well with the decadent filling. These were perfect. We also enjoyed some French press coffee, a raspberry sponge cake with pistachio filling and a lemon tart. I’m not a big lemon dessert fan… or really a dessert fan at all. These treats are the exception. The raspberry cake was moist layers of cake, a layer of pistachio in the center and it was life-changing. The lemon tart was the perfect balance of fresh, tart, sweet and refreshing. I do have some minor criticisms – mostly service related. And keep in mind that they didn’t change the fact that the product and vibe of Coquette is 5-star, period. We came in at 10:30AM knowing they opened at 10AM and hoping that would be efficient time for them to be set up and organized for the day. They were still not at 10:35. There were hardly any pastries in the case. No savory items were available. The gal at the counter looked like she had just got there and was still stocking the case. If you’re telling the community you’re open at 10AM, I don’t think it’s smart to be scrambling 35 minutes afterwards without your FULL stock in place. This was our first experience here and that wasn’t a great first impression. She was nice enough, but we felt like we were bothering her by asking questions. We got snappy responses like, «this is all we have» when I asked about any savory options. And a mere 10 minutes after being seating, we saw her bring out an entire tray tarts and quiches. Knowing that we wanted those, she could have mentioned that they would be ready in 10 minutes – especially since she knew we were dining in. There is such time, effort and care put into making all their pastries so perfect. It would be nice of some of that was also translated and shown through their service.

This tiny, fancy pastry shop has become my second home in recent months. One reason for this is that they’re open until midnight most nights, which is good for me as most places in University Circle that are open late enough for this night owl are bars. Nothing wrong with bars, but there are some nights you just want to relax and chat with friends and not have to worry about overly loud drunks at the next table. Oh, there IS alcohol here. There are a handful of beers on tap(they’re in the $ 5 to $ 8 range) and various wines and champagnes are available by the glass(the most expensive being $ 15), but the main focus is the food. There are macaroons and tarts aplenty as well as — and I know this sounds out of place — raw oysters. I bought just one for $ 2 and it came with this whole layout that included something in a glass on the side. I found out the hard way you are NOT supposed to drink that. It was a combination of vinegar, red wine and tiny apple chunks that were meant to flavor the oyster. Look at the picture I took of the layout and tell me YOU wouldn’t have thought to drink that! My «usual» at Coquette Patisserie is the«small» $ 5 press pot of coffee(which easily lasts me an entire evening) and two or three macaroons. I’ve taken pictures of these as well for you to see how fancy the whole set up is(the timers are so you can let the coffee sit for the right amount of time for the strength you want before you SLOWLY press down on the plunger). The food is very nice, but it’s the elegant touches such as the ones you’ll see in the photos I’ve included here that really sell me on the place. The last time I visited, I brought one friend with me so she could experience how fancy it was(she liked it!) when another friend came in to buy a box of their amazing macaroons for her sister as a birthday gift. It’s THAT kind of a café with THAT kind of nibbles. Bring a friend or a date(I’ve seen plenty of dates there and they seemed to go well!) and enjoy the luxury. EDIT: My previous review stated this place did NOT do High Tea. I can now assure you that they do them now, specifically on Sundays! WOOT! EDIT #2 — Props to the staff for being socially aware. I took a friend here and she’s a devout Muslim and wears a hijab. As my pal was deciding what to order, the person behind the counter spoke up and pointed out which items were made with alcohol. Yeah, that was cool of her to think of that, because it never would’ve occurred to my pal and I to ASK if anything was made with booze.

After a cold and rainy afternoon at MOCA, we decided to take refuge and get warmed up at this lovely little bakery /coffee shop… so glad we did! Chef Britt-Marie Culey is doing a wonderful job with this tiny, comfortable spot. The smells wafting through the place when we opened the door to come in were so enticing, we knew we were in for a treat(literally!). The French press coffee was rich but very smooth and we sampled several of the decadent desserts which were all delicious and meticulously prepared. In the area again we will be sure to stop by and sample other treats.

To be coquettish is not exactly a compliment. This sweet little nook flirts and entices you but alas does not deliver the goods. I was charmed by the décor – cute little tables with fresh flowers, novels laid artfully by large windows, and an eclectic staff playing 1920’s style silent movie music(with heavy metal leaking through from the kitchens lol). However, the macaroons were mediocre at best. I thought the shells were too chewy(not crackly and then chewy like at Luna’s), and the fillings were overly sweet and rarely lived up to the flavors they represented. These macaroons are still yummy, don’t get me wrong, they just don’t taste like their titles. — Grapefruit: very sugary with no distinct flavor — Hot Toddy: slightly less sugary with no distinct flavor — Framboise: tasted like laffy taffy I also tried a gouda brioche, which was very good. They warmed it in the oven before serving and it was light, fluffy, and delicious. The tea selection was also very good. I enjoyed a nicely brewed pot with my boyfriend and appreciated the hourglass accessory which informed us about how much time we needed to let the tea steep to reach various strengths. Very cute and useful! My boyfriend also complimented the very well curated champagne and sour beer offerings.(We will be back to try some of these later). I think Coquette Patisserie can find its niche as a stop for a glass of champagne prior to a dinner + dessert elsewhere. I would consider it an aptly suited fancy pre-game venue for a girls’ night out, date night, or perhaps a bachelorette party. However, you’re better off feasting at Luna’s for sweet treats.
