My wife hosted a dinner party for 14 and narrowed it down to two restaurants. While the other restaurant was closer to our hotel, Island Way Grill won out — thanks to a very flexible, responsive and professional, Amber — Island Way Grill’s planner. She went out of her way to give us privacy in a cozy section of the restaurant with a spectacular view of the docks… we were only expecting a large table mixed in with other patrons. Kudos to Amber!!! The pictures don’t do this place justice — is it big — ‘cavernous’ is a better word for the area you walk into. And busy. So you know everything is very fresh. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive, always available — no issues. He made the whole party feel special. And the food… The appetizers were delicious — we had the calamari(spicy and good), crab cakes(big, moist, flavorful), red pepper hummus in filo cups(very good) and chilled Asian spring rolls(fresh, crisp vegetables). The entrees we chose were the filet mignon w/lobster tail and king crab legs(spectacular); they served real king crab legs(not the smaller Tanner Crab legs). Others had the grilled grouper or the filet mignon by itself. We had a few vegetarians and Amber made sure they were taken care of all the way through from appetizers and entrée through dessert. Each of us had a mini cheese cake for dessert(quite large… I don’t believe anyone a able to fully polish off theirs!) None were disappointed. The valet service was an unexpected plus. If we go back to Clearwater again, we’re definitely heading back to Island Way Grill!

So disappointed. We went last night for dinner. We have had good meals there before. The dining room was unpleasantly stuffy and warm although they did turn the ac up after we complained and acknowledged others had complained. The grouper fritters were undersalted. The tuna poke old and stringy and the crab cakes like little hockey pucks. And they couldn’t make white cosmos as they had run out of white cranberry juice? The table near us was set up for new customers but for close to half an hour there were bits of food and torn sugar packets all over the floor. It had the ambience of a cafeteria. Truly hope this isn’t a trend.

Really really good food and the prices won’t make you go broke either! Can’t say anything bad about this place. We sat outside with awesome views of the sunset. But the inside was beautiful as well. Everything we ate was perfect and the dirty martinis went down like water! We will definitely be back to this place next time we stay overnight in Clearwater. You won’t be disappointed!

This review is strictly for their brunch that we had on Sunday June 5, 2016. We arrived for our reservation and were seated in the shade outside(as requested) promptly. Our server, Lisa, quickly came by to greet the four of us and to take our drink orders. She let us know that one mimosa or glass of champagne is included in the adult brunch cost of approximately $ 25. She can also bring out other complimentary beverages including juices, coffee, tea, etc. The cappuccino on the dessert bar is self-serve and the best I’ve had to date. Definitely, try it. There is also a Bloody Mary bar(not included) that opens at 11. There is an omelet station with a large variety of fresh items to add. During our visit, there were two chefs creating the omelets. They also have many other breakfast items available, such as eggs benedict, hard boiled eggs, smoked salmon and bagels, fruits, cheeses, French toast, bacon, sausage, blintzes, baked goods, etc. The carving stations had roast beef and ham. The raw bar table had raw oysters, peel and eat shrimp, crawfish and crab salad. There were a few sushi roll offerings(spicy tuna, veggie and California). There was also a table with a large variety of salads from regular salad, to spinach goat cheese, chicken Caesar and even watermelon feta. Then, the table that had hot lunch offerings including Shepherd’s Pie, chicken, fish, veggies and more. Next, was dessert and these are definitely worth saving room for. They are making fresh waffles, cherries jubilee and bananas foster. There is also an ice cream sundae bar. Plenty of premade desserts are out on a large table, including a bunch of tarts, cakes, mousse desserts, bars, etc.(My personal favorites were the ice cream sundae and the Peanut butter dessert in the cup) If you are in the Clearwater Beach area, or you want a fabulous brunch, visit Island Way Grill. You won’t be disappointed.

Food and menu choices are a five, service was a 1, but I bet it was just an off day. Usually when service is terrible, it makes you want to not go back. I saw the waitress bring the other table a check before their dessert. She almost never came to our table for us to request things. Even when we tried to wave her down she walked away. It was amazing. Yet, even though this has to be one of the worst server experiences I’ve had in a long time, the food was delicious so I would give it another chance. I started with a mojito. It tasted purely of tonic water. I ended up sending it back and getting a lemon drop. The lemon drop was much stronger. There are special drinks on the early supper menu that are a great price. Just a warning, even though well martini is on there, it turns out they don’t mean any martini with well liquor. It’s just a standard martini. Therefore, I ended up paying double for my martini. The mojito was on the special menu, so I wish the server had realized I assumed I was ordering off the same menu. Then again, I shouldn’t expect much from this server. The supper menu has a great variety of dishes for $ 14. I got the fresh catch, which was mahi mahi with crab stuffing. It came with a choice of bisque or salad. I chose the bisque and it was great. It also comes with a dessert, which that day was peach cobbler. At least the server said it was peach cobbler. She amended it later saying it was either peach or strawberry after we ordered. I asked for the peach cobbler and got strawberry. It wasn’t bad, but I would have preferred peach. But by that point, I was done dealing with the server. There are a ton of great menu choices. They have a lunch menu as well. Next time, I want to try the fries. They are hand cut and looked great. I got the wasabi mashed potatoes with my meal and they were pretty good. I really didn’t taste the wasabi, but I’m happy about that. This is literally the only place you can boat up to and dock to eat in Clearwater. I’m not saying that I plan to come back because it is literally my only option when boating, but that probably does factor into it. Otherwise, the food was good and I’ll just hope I never see the server again.

We met with friends and had a nice dinner on the terrace. It was a bit too cold and loud inside for us. Everything we had was delicious. The tuna was perfect and the beef carpaccio was tasty, though you may need to ask for more crostini. Good coffee. Professional and friendly waitstaff.

I took my girlfriend for her birthday dinner last night, and the food was absolutely great and very surprisingly filling! And our server Denise left us in stitches last night! Not only was she helpful, she was hilarious as well! We will definitely be coming back again!

We read all the reviews, and a recommendation from from people from the hotel we were staying at. We decided to give it a try. The restaurant was bit out dated, fifties style look to it. The food was good but little bit pricey for what you get. Overall the food was decent and the service was just ok.

Giving this place 2 stars just because we had bad service. Our waitress was Jennifer and she was not very personable. Maybe she was having a bad day, but regardless, in a customer service job, you should always be on your toes. We came here for my grandma’s birthday to celebrate. I asked Jennifer to take a picture of us at the table, and I felt like it was an inconvenience for her. Unfortunately the picture she took was very dark, so when she returned a second time, i asked if she could take one more, from the other side of the table to switch up the lighting, and I swear I thought i saw her roll her eyes. wow. Anyways, we ordered calamari, soft shell crab, and a caprese salad for appetizers. The soft shell crab was great! Must try. Wasn’t a fan of the calamari, and my Grandpa’s caprese salad never came out. We were also supposed to receive complimentary bread, as any restaurant gives, but we did not receive that until after our appetizers because they ran out I guess, and it was«baking in the oven». For my entrée I had the coconut shrimp. The size was impressive! And delicious. I ordered blue crab fried rice as a side dish to try, save yourself the $ 9, not worth it. I have had this rice at other restaurants and could actually taste the crab. This one tasted like plain fried rice. My grandmother and hubby ordered the New York Strip steak. The portion was nice but they were both overcooked and burnt. Grandpa ordered the salmon which he said he liked. Overall the food was pretty good. The ambiance is by far the best. The place is gorgeous! Just wish we had a different server.

I had the pleasure of dining at Island Way Grill for a rehearsal dinner. The outside patio was reserved and it was an absolutely beautiful way to spend an evening. The outside patio is right on the water and the sunset was gorgeous. We were given excellent service by Island Way Grill. The dinner featured passed appetizers and the servers frequently stopped to see if we would like more. One of the members of our party noted at the beginning of the meal that he is a vegetarian and the staff really went out of their way to ensure that his dietary needs were met. I had the steak and lobster tail for my dinner and both items were very tasty. I was impressed by the large raw bar on the inside of the restaurant and with how classy the Island Way décor is. I would love to come back here for a date night some time to sample more of the menu. Island Way Grill is a great way to experience fine dining right near the beach!

Great place! The view from the outdoor patio is phenomenal though it can get a little hot under the sun. The service was great as well. Michael was nice, attentive and informative. He made sure we were never left wanting during our lunch there. The food was also very good. They brought us a basket full of delicious bread and a side of herbed olive oil to start. It was very good. Then I had ikura(aka salmon roe) as an appetizer. The ikura was just the way I like it. Not too salty in flavor, plentiful, and the rice in the roll was just right. Then there’s the delicious crab bisque. It was perfectly creamy and the flavor was one of the best I’ve had. By the time my entrée came around I was already full but I did take a few bites of my mahi stuffed with crab. The mahi mahi was a little overcooked but I did enjoy the crab filling. Overall this is just a great restaurant to check out if you’re in Clearwater.

I went to island way to watch the sunset and try this place because I heard great things. I was not let down. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I sat on the tiki deck as it was a beautiful Thursday night. I didn’t have to wait for a seat at the bar even tho they were busy the bartenders were very friendly and helpful to everyone at the bar so no one felt neglected. Both helped me make decisions to make my visit there wonderful. I started with oysters and the wedge salad. Both were delicious but I thought the oyster were a little small for my liking. It was an appetizer so I didn’t fret much. My entrée was the Korean BBQ T-Bone with red wine shallot accompanied with wasabi mash potatoes. DELISH! I ordered it medium rare and it came out charred on the outside and picture perfect on the inside. And to top it off I got the sushi special to try after I finished my entrée. I ate a lot and all of it, even tho different aspects of the menu, was very good. I’ll definitely be back.

While it looks fancy from the outside, it’s pretty casual on the inside. They have outdoor seating with a view of the marina, but as it had started to drizzle, we sat inside. They advertise fresh seafood, brought in 3 times daily! Not many places can say that. We got there early for dinner and were handed 4 menus each. A bit confusing at first, one was an early bird. All entrees for $ 14.90. Not bad! Then there was an early bird specials menu which offered a few other items. Next was the dinner menu and lunch menu as well. It wasn’t too crowded at the start, and while our server was awesome, the food took quite awhile to come out. We were a table of 6 and we were there for 2 hours. The early bird comes with soup or salad, highly recommend the crab bisque! My table mates got appetizers of clams and oyster Rockefeller which they enjoyed. My entrée was Mahi Mahi, very fresh tasting. Would order this again. My son in law ordered a meatloaf and said it was best he’s ever had. Lots of varied items including seafood, steaks, sushi, chicken and burgers. Literally something for everyone.

I can only say amazing things about Island Way Grill. I highly recommend Island Way Grill to all of my friends who are visiting and want a nice spot for dinner. Island Way Grill is not a chain, so offers unique dishes with local flair. They are located right on the water, I’ve seen people pull up on their boat! I usually just drive, they offer valet which is nice. They also serve fresh catches they caught that day! They have a sushi bar with plenty of sushi options. I’ve held several small dinner parties here. Island Way Grill has a great event team. They provided special custom printed menus for us, which was a nice extra touch. I also had my friends pre-bachelorette dinner here. We went for the early bird time with the time of the rest of our events. All the girls loved the menu selection and affordability. I love their signature salad, it is one of my favorite salads. I usually order the salmon, and coconut jasmine rice. They make the best crème brûlée, so of course for dessert I have to get that! No matter what, you won’t be disappointed! The décor and atmosphere is great! They have brunch on the weekend as well! And an awesome outdoor seating patio and bar.

I was hoping to have a better experience based on all the reviews but alas so t think it was many to be. Went for dinner and almost felt like this was another supper club very loud. Even though we had reservations we had to wait a little time before the table was ready, it was unfortunate that the hostesses appeared stressed out and disorganized. Several food options were not available to us because the restaurant had run out of the option like the tomahawk steak only the extremely large option was available. Both selected the filet which was pretty decent but def not one of the best in town then again probably should have ordered something from the ocean. Last would have loved to have dessert but the only gluten free option is fruit? The restaurant needs to step it’s game up but it does appear to have a significant following… unfortunately I didn’t see it that night.

I had eaten here with large groups a number of times, but this was the first time in recent years with a small group ordering off the ful menu. We had a great experience. Of course there is a lot of seafood, but the menu is much broader than I would have thought — including some very nice steaks. I had a steak and lobster, which was good and reasonably priced for the quality. We also tried a variety of starters, including the soft shell crabs and the grouper bites. It was all tasty, and the service was very attentive. Great place for a nice meal in Clearwater.

About 30 people from our church descended upon the island way grill for a delicious Sunday brunch, to celebrate our RIC Sunday. We had reservations which really expedited our seating. If you’ve never indulged yourself to their Sunday brunch you really should make a point to try it out. BTW, the brunch comes with mimosas too. Standouts to me were the roast beef, which was moist and flavorful, really delicious. Also, the eggs Benedict were spot on. Suffice to say that any time I open up a chafing dish and find heaps and heaps of bacon, it makes my heart dance, never mind my cholesterol. For those of who like raw seafood, you’ll love all the oysters that await you. Also freshly made Sushi. A great omelet station will fill your need for eggs too. There are many more choices for hot dishes like pasta etc. All in all, it’s not a bad value for $ 25 per person.

When you walk into the the restaurant we were greeted by the most welcoming staff. The hostess was extremely friendly as she took us to the table. We were greeted by the waiter who was attentive, but not over bearing. We ordered the island drink. The drinks were very refreshing. Next we order the early bird special. I had the filet mignon medallions and my friend had the sea food pasta. The food was amazing. We both enjoyed them. We went out side to have a drink at the outside bar and the scenery was beautiful. I give the place 5 stars to the friendly staff and to the amazing food

This place should definitely be a 5-Star restaurant. The only deduction is for the consistently sub-par wait staff. With a good wine, apps, meals and dessert for 4 people you can easily get to triple digits per head in terms of cost. At that price you expect stellar service along with your meal. Their selection of fresh fish is the best I have had in the Tampa area. When you arrive you can see all of the beautiful options laid out on ice. I have had their Grouper prepared Pan Roasted and Stuffed, the Snapper served Oscar Style and the Scallop Pasta bowl. The wasabi mashed potatoes are fantastic! Additionally they serve incredible sushi. I love the Florida roll. Their raw oysters are definitely worth ordering. Here you can guarantee they are fresh. They are served with a variety of sauces… cocktail, horseradish and something else. Their house salads are a nice start to the meal. Also try their mojitos for a little island flare! All in all great, fresh food. If coming by boat they have several wet slips available. If coming by land they have great valet parking.
