My first experience wine tasting. Great wine selection with friendly and knowledgable staff!

We had a wonderful time here. Great wine at a reasonable price. The cheese plate and Cajun crab dip was awesome. Wine tasting was done in a old barn which was decorated to perfection. A great stop on the Maryland wine tour.

Saw the sign off the highway and had to stop and see what it was all about. Arrived and was blown away on the atmosphere. A cute barn winery with plenty of space. Cozy seating and a great hostess(Katherine). Tried about 10 different wines and was not disappointed with any of them. Took home 3 bottles. They have concerts on the weekend and special events. Great place to stop by have a glass of wine and salmon dip.

It’s easy to miss this little gem when you’re approaching the barn. It’s on the other side of a house, so make sure to slow down when you’re GPS says you’re approaching. All their grapes are grown in Pennsylvania, which I greatly admire. I don’t like purchasing wine that has grapes grown from outside the state. I bought 4 bottles of wine but don’t remember which ones I bought. I think I purchased the Chardonnay, Traminette, Le Reve Rouge, and Merlot. The service there is wonderful and friendly. Don’t forget to leave a tip!

A group of friends and I went here since we were in the area already for a church retreat. We went to Unilocal and found the closest, highest rated winery on Unilocal(Ah, the power of Unilocal). The winery itself is in a large barn and looks like a great venue to host a country wedding. There were plenty of tables and the owners let us sit at a table to do a wine tasting. It was $ 5 for a tasting of six and you were able to mark which six you wanted to try. I tried 6 sweeter wines and enjoyed every single one. My wife likes drier wines and enjoyed her wine too. For $ 8 per cheese, we ordered Brie and cheddar and had a good time snacking and wining. The very best part was they had wine slushies(Much to the chagrin of my wife and friends) and it was AMAZING! If you like sweeter drinks, order the $ 6 wine slushy. I’m still thinking about it.

Knob Hall Winery is absolutely beautiful. We stopped in on our way home from Harper’s Ferry for a quick tasting. It was a beautiful day, and it took our eyes a minute to adjust to the darkness of the barn where I assume events are held, and tastings are conducted. It wasn’t busy at all, and our friendly hostess gave us the rundown on the tasting options. Try 6 wines for $ 5, 10 for $ 8. You circle your selections on their list of wines, and the pourer pours accordingly. The wine list could have been a bit more concise. Being able to tell the dry, sweet, and sparkling apart was a little confusing. Then they have a few«premium wines» that are extra, but it was hard for me to tell which those were. I was the only one who chose the 6 wines, cuz I was the driver, and hadn’t eaten in a few hours. The rest of our party chose 10. Our hostess as she went through our tasting, graciously threw in a few freebie tastes for me «to compare» as she said, if the wines I had not selected were similar to ones I had. I ended up only purchasing one bottle, a 2013 Chardonnay Reserve. One of the ones that I didn’t select for my tasting, but was given a sip of anyways. It was described to us as «traditional and buttery». I believe that was my first time trying Chardonnay, and it was unlike anything I’d ever tasted. Really interesting flavor. Bottles were at a reasonable price point($ 18 – 30), and there wasn’t much pressure to buy, but we didn’t need any pressure, everyone bought something. The wines were all a little on the dry side, and they were out of one of their two sparkling wines. The one that was still remaining tasted like a dry club soda, not very impressive. If you’re very big into sweet wines, this may not be the place for you. But if you want to try something new, the tasting was very thorough and you get a lot for your money. I really liked the lady conducting the tastings. She was professional, classy, and knowledgeable, but also friendly and conversational. Not snooty at all, and her spiel on each wine wasn’t completely over my head(I’m no wine expert). I had a great time at Knob Hall. I bet the events here are beautiful, since the property and the barn are gorgeous.
