Shaw Park located in the heart of downtown Clayton is a nice little park that has a lot to offer in world of parks. Like all parks there are trees, grass, water fountains, and sports fields. But, what this park offers that I enjoy the most is an event called The Taste of Clayton. The Taste of Clayton is just what it says. You won’t be munching on the side of a building with asphalt for a desert though, no, you have all the restaurants in the area with booths set up where you can sample what they have to offer. Spending a day there, you will not walk away hungry. Of course the day is not just the end of it. At night they have a fireworks show that is quite entertaining and live music. This event is a lot of fun that everyone at some point should try and make it to.

Anyone with an appetite is welcome at this yearly event, held in the bosom of Shaw Park. It’s a bustling event and in the very high temperatures that typically embody St. Louis in the summer, can be a bit overwhelming at times. Things slow down around 4 or 5, right before Taste Too gets ready to kick in. Taste of Clayton offers you a sampling from many of Clayton’s best loved establishments and you purchase tickets upon arrival. Each sampling of food generally costs you around 4 – 5 tickets and can range from seafood bratwurst to crme brulee, a cosmo or a dish of salad. Taste Too is primarily desserts and alcoholic beverages, though you can find plenty of that during the day. There are fireworks after 7, and live music to boot. It’s a great event for the family, and proceeds benefit local charities.
