Super bummed this place is closed. How could that be!!! They seemed busy all the time. Guess I’ll have to visit the Webster location. I like this place because its fast, kid friendly, and not greasy.

As of 12÷23÷13, Stratton’s is now closed. Too bad it closed, nice spot to grab a quick lunch if you work in the area.

I went with 3 others for Sunday brunch based on reviews, not realizing that there are two locations for the café with strongly different reviews. This was definitely a subpar restaurant for the Clayton area, with food that didn’t even compare well to a hotel omelet bar /free breakfast. To start, the espresso machine wasn’t working. Not a great way to start our day. Follow with the omelets arriving with the paper napkin-wrapped silverware on top of them, so time was spent trying to separate the two, leaving the napkins unusable due to being covered in oil and cheese. One diner ordered a Veggie and Provolone omelet, but had to drain about 2 tablespoons of oil/liquid from it before she could stomach it. The boring omelet appeared to have no spices. It had a small, thin slice of provolone that didn’t extend to the entire omelet, leaving about half of the meal even more boring(and thus uneaten).(Maybe the cheese all ended up stuck to the napkin mentioned above?) Another diner ordered the 3 Cheese & Tomato omelet, but said it was only one meager slice of cheese(again, were the others on the napkin?) and no additional seasonings. She also chose not to finish her omelet. She did comment positively on the English muffin that came with it. The other two diners had the Southwestern Chicken Wrap, which sounded great on the menu, but was equally boring. Not only did we not discover the pepper jack cheese, the chipotle aioli was not spicy enough to have an impact much beyond thoughts of «something white, maybe mayo?» And why would you put both chipotle aioli and salsa in a wrap? I’d think one should be enough to provide flavor and the extra kick. But obviously not, as the wrap was not very flavorful even with both. There are too many great breakfast place in Clayton and University City that we won’t be returning to this one. But hey, many people seem to think the same, as we were able to park right in front of the restaurant. That should’ve been a clue…

Disappointed. I enjoyed my breakfast at the Stratton’s Café in Webster Groves, but my experience here was awful. The young girl who took my order was impatient with me for immediately not knowing what type of toast I wanted,(hello! haven’t had my coffee yet. lol), the tables were a mess, my coffee was almost at boiling point, and the place was inundated with screaming children and babies. The food was something I could have thrown together at home. Nothing special. So much for a nice breakfast:(

The Clayton location was pretty nice — bigger than Webster, and it has some interesting menu items. Although they confused me by saying they didn’t prepare breakfast stuff at lunch, they made an exception and made me my ham and cheddar scramble anyway. Just might come back some day.

This place is disgusting. I just got a breakfast wrap and brought it back to my office and it’s soaking wet. With what, I have no clue. I’ve been here numerous times, and never have a great experience. It’s officially a coffee only establishment for me from now on. Although, the last time I went there was on a Saturday and it took me 15 minutes to order my coffee, and when I went over to poor it, the coffee was gone, so I’ll probably skip the coffee from now on too. Also, the place is kind of a rip-off, it’s way too expensive for what you get.

Stratton’s Café was thoroughly disappointing. We went for breakfast on Saturday morning not really knowing what to expect. I ordered a veggie omelet and forgot to ask for egg whites so I returned to the counter 30 seconds after placing my order to request them. The very inconvenienced woman working the register told me she’d ‘check on it.’ Five minutes later she came to our table and said, ‘You didn’t say egg whites when you ordered and he already has your order made.’ Um, OK. No offer to remake it or even a simple apology. I could’ve argued but uttered a confused acknowledgment and let it go. The omelet — egg whites or no egg whites — was greasy and generally tasteless. My date said his biscuits and gravy tasted like ‘college dorm cafeteria food.‘ I’m not sure how Stratton’s keeps in business with subpar food and surly customer service… the lunch crowd from the surrounding office buildings, maybe?

Gee, I hope that A-OK is actually considered a good review. We’ve been here a couple times and have left satisfied both times. Middle of the road stuff. I’ll keep going back, but I won’t be craving each return. While this will upset professional wait staff, I do actually appreciate the option of getting a full service breakfast without the obligations of full table service. Tipping is still allowed and I do, but I like the restaurant trend towards order here and eat there models for some kinds of dining experiences. As a vegan 99 percent of the time, I’m happy that they do offer an oatmeal option, but that is really the only option for me there. Today, on one of my «what the heck, I’ll be vegetarian today» days, I did have an omelet and since I’m vegan for health reasons actually could have had their egg white and feta omelet, but opted for the richer veggie and provolone omelet instead. I’ve been a good boy, for the most part. It was a nice omelet. Not overcooked and the veggies were diced nice and small so that their moisture mostly cooked off and didn’t leave you with an egg floating in water situation which plagues many veggie offerings. And the veggies were actually cooked… woe be the place that throws raw mushrooms instead my omelet… raw mushrooms on salads, yes… in my omelet… no. Ok…here is my one complaint.(envision most interesting man in the world guy) I rarely eat butter, but when I do, it needs to be at room temperature. Do NOT take out the Land O’ Lakes butter cubes out of the freezer just prior to serving. It is nearly impossible to serve toast, bagel or muffin sufficiently hot enough to melt the butter and it only serves to further cool off an item that is best served warm and toasty… toast…by name… should be toasty! Is that the difference between a 3 and 4 star review? Of course not, but thought I’d pitch them a bit o’ advice. Oh yeah, I mostly avoid the place because the parking can be a PITA, but went there for an urban stroll instead.

I think their menu is great — just enough healthy options and just enough glutenous options. I love the pay at the counter, serve your own coffee and service. They are very accommodating on substitutions and I highly recommend the Egg White Spinach Wrap with Mushrooms. Their ambiance is lacking but I’ve become a regular.

My boyfriend and I go every weekend for breakfast! It’s not super special or anything, but good, consistent stuff that you can count on! I really like their healthier options, like spinach with egg whites wrap. My boyfriend usually gets the Southwestern Scramble. LOVE their service too. On the weekdays, a lot of business people from the nearby offices come here for lunch so it can get pretty packed.

Ok I rarely give 5 star ratings, but I have to say my experience was top notch. First let me say it is a breakfast and lunch only place so expectations should be as such. I feel like people who have reviewed this expect more. This is a 5 star café, not 5 star dinner place. The service is extremely friendly. You order yourself and sometimes even pick up your food yourself, but that’s not a problem. The food is fresh and outstanding. I love that they have real maple syrup! Their gelato is incredibly delicious and made in house. Spend more than $ 10 and get a free gelato; how awesome is that? The coffee is a wonderful surprise as well. Just go check it out.

St. Louis should be embarrassed to have this place show up on its list of best breakfast places. It is a glorified McDonalds without the good sausage. Did you know you order up at the counter, take your paper cup and paper napkin and go full up your own coffee? Then good luck with the 18 year-olds with the attitudes who sling out your very ordinary food. They do not work for tips and it shows. You can expect your order to be about 50% correct. Where’s my side of bacon? I forgot. I had whole wheat not white. Sorry. You forgot the butter for the toast. Sorry. Do you have syrup for the instant pancakes? Yes, here us your plastic packet. Just not a good experience in any way.

Solid lunch place really close to where I work. Lots of options, so it’s good for a group of people with diverse tastes. One nice thing is that they serve the breakfast items all day except between noon and 1pm. Generous portions, good prices, and quick, friendly service. Sometimes it can get kinda crowded, but I’ve never had a problem finding a table. Nothing extraordinary, but if you’re in this area a good place. They also have gelato, which always seemed kinda random to me, but yeah.

My fiancé got me a to-go omelette from here while I was working back at our hotel. The omelette itself was pretty bad. It was dry and didn’t really have any flavor. It came with a croissant, which was decent but not great. However, my fiancé arrived right at 3 as they were closing and they were still able to make him food, which was very much appreciated. He also had a sandwich there that he liked, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.

AMAZINGBRUNCH!!! There’s nothing I love to see more than«breakfast served all day.» This place has a HUGE menu, but a menu that is overwhelming with GREAT choices. I always spend a good few minutes struggling to decide on something to order! Summer deal: Spend $ 10 and get a free gelato is AMAZING! GELATO: Comparable to the real stuff in ITALY… HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!

If you have been to Clayton you know that it’s not an overly big financial district and yet it took me over a year to stumble across Stratton’s. I cannot say anything but it’s a great go to spot for lunch! I’m in love with the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla and the(warm) wraps) are an easy and filling favorite. I love the turkey melt on rye too. Also had the pleasure of indulging in the brownie batter gelato, it’s scrumptious! Early morning breakfast meeting? No problem the menu is big and the Belgium waffle is amazing(add fruit). Small groups, big groups, lonely lunches — it’s always a win!

Weird place. It is really large for a «coffee house» type place. We shared an egg wrap and some oatmeal. The coffee in the«daily bold» was hazelnut flavor and I believe the word«disgusting» was mentioned by Andrew W multiple times while trying to enjoy it. The oatmeal tasted really off and boring. The wrap was ok, SUPER hot and bland.

I used to work in the office high-rise next to it. This place became a regular lunch spot for most of my coworkers. Its order process and interior decorations closely resemble a Panera. They have a variety of hot and cold sandwiches as well as ice cream. But the sandwiches are mediocre at best and quite expensive for being mediocre. The best things about their menu are the gelato and the corn chips! As crazy as it sounds, these chips always became my favorite part of any meal I got here. Since I changed employer last year I have not gone back, and I don’t miss it one bit. But I know business will always be good here due to its convenient location. If you are from out of town and look for a lunch place, I would go somewhere with tastier food(or at least cheaper prices). Stratton’s Café is nothing special.

NOMNOMNOM. There is sooo much to choose from! The mushroom brie soup is so good. I couldn’t believe that I had never heard of this place before. They took an everyday turkey melt and snazzed it up with their special sauce… I’m pretty sure honey mustard was involved. It was hearty and delish. Reuben was decent. Cheesesteak was served on Pugliese bread, which I love love love. Sides were really good too. Loved the fries. Can’t wait to try breakfast!

This is a casual restaurant near the Ritz Carlton in Clayton. You order at the counter and pick up your food at the window. The atmosphere is kind of like First Watch, except with fewer senior citizens. The food is OK — nothing special, but good. Sandwiches, salads, soup, etc. for lunch. I hear they have good breakfasts. I had a turkey wrap here, which was fine. Priced a little higher than Bread Company, but the menu and food quality is a little higher as well. They also clear the tables for you. Free wireless.
