Merry Knoll Campground

My wife and I, along with another couple, were looking for a place in the 1000 island to camp– we found this one online. The website says that they’re the ‘highest rated campground in the area’, but apparently «area» is limited to their campground, because this place was terrible.
The lady at the front desk was just downright mean. First, she scolded us for not bringing cash, so we had to drive back into town to an ATM to pay them in cash before we could even unload. Then she basically said that we had to go to bed at 11p. I’m not sure you camp, but we party, so that wasn’t going to happen.
Inside, it wasn’t really a campground, it was more like a trailer park. There were a lot of permanent residents at this campground, and they don’t like ‘outsiders’. Pretty unfriendly group of people. Finally, I was pretty annoyed that they said they rented boats, but when we got there, they said they didn’t say that.
Bottom line, if you’re looking to camp in the 1000 islands, don’t go here. I can only hope they get audited. Cash only… seriously.
