Steak ‘n Shake

I eat here almost monthly now. If there wasn’t so many restaurants around here I would eat at Shake and Shake much more. Their food is excellent and David the Manager runs the store like a Swiss watch. I usually dine at Shake and Shake when I receive the coupons in the mail which saves me $ 5 or more when I take a guest or 2 with me. Heather B is worth mentioning as the waitress to ask for. She is very cordial and professional. I last went to Steak and Shake on 6÷23÷2016 while they were getting slammed with business. I believe every table and nearly every chair was occupied. My grandson and I sat at the counter where we could watch the cooking. We were waited on right away by Heather B and had our food FAST. It was hot and delicious. My grandson and I were very satisfied and full. David took care to use my coupons and saved me about $ 5. I am always happy to see David working when I visit, knowing my meal is going to be a great experience.

My 3^rd time giving them a chance. Well, they say third time’s the charm– unfortunately for their charm it’s below satisfactory. Actually, it’s horrible! Going through the drive-​thru I don’t want to see the person working the window (manager) going & taking my onion rings out the freezer with her hands to put them in the fryer, to see them put my burger in the microwave to heat it up and the fries… well, let’s just say they’re drenched in cooking. While pulling out the drive thru I try an onion ring, it would have been nice if it was totally cooked! By the way… Can your employees please put on a clean shirts every now and then AND please clean up the kitchen!

Came in at 11 PM for a milkshake, and my wife wanted a meal. It took 10 minutes for the server to see us. My milkshake never arrived, and when asking for a manager they didn’t want to be bothered. Then we found out there wasn’t even a manager on duty, so we were lied too. Horrible customer service and some of the food was raw… we will never be back.

Called to place a carry out order several times nobody would answer. Went there and was greeted right off the bat and taken care of by one person. The cook came out and fixed the food right away. The only problem other than the phone thing there was a lady working drive thru I guess because of the headset on her head. She sat in the back at a booth and just stared at me with the meanest look on her face didn’t greet me or say anything just sat there and the waitress was the one that took care of me and everyone else. I guess two out of three employees is pretty good.

Been here a couple of times food is good and fresh the staff are friendly but serve seems a little bit on the slow side prices are pretty reasonable

I’ve been here several times and the food has always been good, and priced fairly (I think they make their $ on drinks and desserts). However the service, even if the hostess, waitress, & cashier are friendly and upbeat (which is not always the case) and not 20 feet away loudly discussing all their personal problems with another employee, has always been abysmal. Atrocius. Rent a school anatomy skeleton and spray fake cobwebs all over it to put in your seat-​slow. Despite high-​priced drinks, don’t count on ever getting a refill even if you get an opportunity to ask for one. Even getting out the door is an exercise in patience, as they’ve made being not physically present into an art form. Many Pop-​Copy qualities, but as I say, at least the food is good.

This is an insult to the restaurant industry. The service was beyond terrible and the experience was hardly worth the wait.
My family came in for a quick dinner, after waiting to be sat in an empty dining room for 20 minutes, we were seated where we waited for another 20 minutes. After ordering it took 45 minutes for any food to come, and then only 4 of the 12 meals came. None of the shakes came at or before these initials plates. My brother in law ordered a plain steak burger with only pickles, and stated no cheese. They delivered a burger with cheese… Twice.
When the shakes eventually arrived, a number of them were incorrect.
We spent nearly three hours total waiting for food from entering the building to getting the full order — except the my brother in law who had to cancel his order.
In the time there, we saw 2×8 tops, 1×4 top and 1×3 tops leave without ordering because they sat and waited for over 15 minutes without being spoken to by wait staff.
This is the worst dining experience I’ve ever had, and as a former chef I am appalled by the absence of service here. Do not come here. Avoid at all cost! You’ll waste an entire evening for average food and horrible service.

The food was pretty standard for a Steak and Shake, but the service was terrible. We never even received our shakes! After waiting over 20 minutes for our check, we finally had to go to the counter to cash out.

I moved across the bridge 16 years ago and this SNS has never been great. I love SNS but don’t go very often because this one is usually so bad. It’s the service that hurts them.
This time it improved somewhat from my last visit over a year ago. The server did a decent job but the hostess was bad and the restaurant and restrooms needed to be cleaner. They ran out of soda on the fountain and were serving from 2 liters that didn’t taste as good.
They need new management in the worst way. This visit was actually the best one I’ve had in years.

I have been coming here for a long time. Good food at a good price. However, the last couple of times the place was filthy. The booths had dirt on them. The floor was dirty and the restroom was really in bad shape. Come on S&S… clean up your act. I want to come and eat there again but am reluctant until the place gets a thorough scrubbing down.

I am indifferent about this Steak n Shake. The food is always fresh and delicous, although service and cleanliness are often not as great.
The drive thru — 9 times out of 10 is a complete waste of time.

Can’t beat the price for a dine– in experience. Food is fresh and the wait staff is friendly.

Waited 10 mins to be seated. Took forever to order. Another 25 mins we had to leave. Still no food. No chance of a refill either. Nichole was waitress. She should be fired for horrible service. Lost my business forever.

Lunch service was fast and friendly.
Non-​fast food is always my preference for lunch, but it isn’t always an option.
We were seated, got our food, and were back in the car within 20 minutes.

The only thing I liked were the fries (but they were cold when they arrived). Everything from the food to the servers was mediocre.

It always seems slow in this place and they never seem to have enough workers regardless of the time of day. Ketchup bottles on the tables always feel greasy like they’ve never been cleaned and are usually near empty or totally empty. When you are waiting you can see the kitchen staff cooking 20 – 30 burgers every few minutes or so, so my only guess is that they serve the drive through guests first off the grill and make the dining room guests wait. Ordering a shake? Add 20 min to your visit.

Been here a few times but have never written a review. This place has great decent priced food of course but the service is horrible! Walk in everyone just glances at you. They never come and greet you. They never rush to do
Anything. Don’t expect a quick
Meal.

I went here with my nieces and we were seated right away on a Saturday night. The waiter didnt come over for at least 5 minutes and then took our drink orders. My niece noticed there was gunk and liquid under our table and we told a passing waitress about it who then told our waiter. He came right over and cleaned it up. We ordered our food and it came out ok. I wasnt expecting much since it is fast food. When it was time for our check, one of my nieces ordered fries to go and he brought her a to go box empty. We had to wait for him to come back and told him fries should be in it. He did not for the fries.

It was a bit difficult to get into probably because I didn’t know the area well and it was dark (I missed the entrance and had to go the interstate service road and back to Eastern and Lewis & Clark and then turn into a shopping mall entrance). That aside, it was great food as usual after a night of off track betting. Service was cordial and prompt despite it being very busy. California steak burger meal was very good and lots of condiments with sandwich and sides. Ordered a cup of chili but got a bowl (larger), no complaint.

The food is better quality than McDonalds/Wendy’s type places, but with waiter service, lower prices, and lots of shake/​dessert choices. It’s pretty great as a late dinner after some manner of evening group outing. It’d be nice if they had wider coverage of the country.
