I’ve been eating here for over 30 years. When you get out of your car and breathe you know you’re in the right place. The fish is flaky and light and the tarter sauce is awesome! My husband and I have had lunch there and got take out dinners to take home for supper. If you are in the mood for deep fried fish, Clarksville Seafood is the right place to go.

Clarksville Seafood has been around a long time and you don’t stay around that long unless you have something people want. Good seafood and decent prices is their calling card. I akin to those who mentioned they like the scallops. Haven’t had better even close to the ocean! They are of good size and some are cut in half in order to be sure they are done through. Each order comes with fries, and I usually cannot finish them all. Their version of hot sauce isn’t anything I have encountered anywhere else. I don’t even want to know what is in it, it is just yummy! I use it mainly for dipping my fries because the scallops don’t need it. My last trip I ordered fried cauliflower. It was good, but way too much for me. I think you can sub out for the fries for a small fee. I will be trying that next time. Another plus: They have Big Red!!! Pretty basic menu. none of the entrees are over $ 10. You order at the counter, find a seat and go up to get your tray when they call your number. So, no fancy pants going on in there. You don’t throw your leftover paperware away, just leave it on the table and they come clear it off. With that said, I will have to say they could use some housekeeping. The floor needs a good mopping and the carpet looks very old. They would get 5 stars from me if they spruced the place up a little. They used to have finicky hours and it was hard to remember when they were open and when they weren’t. Now they are pretty much open every day from 11am until 8pm with the exception of Monday. So, don’t let the building(inside or out) deter you. Go and get yourself some fried scallops!!!

I have been coming here for 32 years and loving it. I have tried fish from restaurants in Miami Florida to Bangor Maine and never been as satisfied with the flavor, quantity and as I have at Clarksville seafood. It is an old simple restaurant that has been flying seafood in fresh since opening. Always a good meal and I get cravings every couple months for this place.

Not sure about the rest of the food here but the fries were cold and the shrimp had a rancid taste and I couldn’t finish it.

I was craving fish and didn’t want to eat at the dock or LJS. I’d heard good things about this place so the husband and I gave it a shot. The service was good, food was hot and quick and but mediocre at best. Restaurant was filthy.

I like scallops and this place has them(good fish too). Its like being on the Cape with a hunger for seafood from a shanty. Not too fancy, just good seafood. Price is good and so are the fries! Does a lively carryout business and parking is in the rear.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and there is no better fish in town! A group of young men are always working and running this place and always have. The hot sauce isn’t very hot but it’s also a favorite. The fried onions are nice and greasy but yummy. Don’t forget to try the shrimp too. They are a descent size and also great. Definately a dive but the food is beyond great.

I have been a guest of this restaurant since I was 4 or 5 years old. Forty years later, it is still the place I go for seafood even that it is 17 miles(30 minute drive) from my home. The breading on the fish($ 10), scallops($ 10), and oysters($ 10) is crispy with the right amount of seasonings. It keeps me coming back. The fish dinner offers a generous portion. Recently, they added a fish sandwich for around $ 6. I believe they invented the onion straws, lightly breaded and fried. Always a good choice. They will substitute them for french fries. But the fries are especially pleasing, crinkle fries. No cocktail sauce here. I always sub the tarter for their hot sauce that is basically a homemade mustard. Heads up for you that don’t eat seafood. They do have chicken fingers and a breaded and fried hamburger. There is no kids menu. Just about everything on the menu is fried. Enter from the back parking lot or walk around front. Very casual. Dine in or carry out with no waiter table service. Recently, on several occasions, my oysters have been about the size of nickels with pieces of shells and they were burnt. I was told they had a new vender. So I have not order them since. One of my favorite dishes is the scallops but it is hit or miss whether or not they will be fresh and hot. On a good day, they are plump and succulent large morsels. On a bad day, I have waited from 10 – 20 minutes for scallops and they have been cold upon arrival and the breading has peeled away. Over the years they switched from Boston Scrod to some other fish which is not nearly as tasty. The fish is usually the most consistently well cooked entrée but to my disappointment about 2 weeks ago, it was fried so long, that it was hard and dried out. It was inedible. This is not the first time. About 2 years ago, my family of 6 visited from Louisville and ordered fish. It was lukewarm and the breading had fallen off. We sent it back and left without eating there. But today, the portions were the largest I’ve ever had there. Two super large pieces of fish freshly fried and seasoned perfectly. I will go back. Over the last 40 years, I’d do anything to cross the bridge, fighting commuter traffic to get to Clarksville Seafood. Now, when I’m in southern Indiana or downtown Louisville, I have passed it by in memory of too many bad meals there. On a good day, it is the best fried fish restaurant in Kentuckian, but on a bad day, which is becoming the norm, it can be a sad choice for seafood. I take my chances even still. Their hours were 4pm –8pm for 40 years, in the last year or so they are open from 11 am-8 pm Tues — Sat, closed earlier on Sundays, closed Monday.

My search is over. Ever since I moved from North Carolina three years ago, I’ve been trying to find a simple seafood restaurant that matched the freshness and quality taken for granted there. This place has it. The fried oysters were perfect. Fresh, full of flavor, breading was complimentary not overwhelming, and you get your money’s worth. The fried fish was among the best I’ve had. Generous quantities, perfectly fried, flaky, moist and flavorful. I’m not a big fan of fried fish, but this was good. The fried mushrooms were fresh. If they didn’t bread them in house, I’ll be surprised. The fried pickles… it’s not easy to fry a pickle. These had juice and flavor left in them, and they weren’t those 5 gallon bucket sour hamburger pickles. I bet they were hand cut on premises. And their breading didn’t fall off. The only disappointment were the fries, which were a bit old and soggy. But there was so much good food that I didn’t care. These people know how to fry. The counter folk were warm and friendly. Even told me the names of their 15 year old pet fish. Décor… yeah, it’s old and dated, a bit dim inside. Do I care? No. Gives the place ambiance and a down home feeling. You want fried seafood done right? Give this place a try.

Amazing fish, deviled crab and shrimp. Do not forget their mustard/hot sauce, so tasty along with their tarter sauce.

You’re going for the fried fish, and it is white, flaky, and delicious. The hush puppies are good too. The interior is a little… dated, but you came for the fried fish and hush puppies and not the wood paneled splendor.

I have always wanted to try this place, but it was completely different than I had imagined. I was thinking fresh baked fish and vegetables and being waited on. No. We walked in the back door which is where the parking lot is and as soon as I saw the inside I realized this was way different than I had imagined. You order up front just like a fast food restaurant and there is a tiny selection. You get fish, shrimp or there are a few other choices of oysters, deviled crab or clams. The meal comes with fries and I asked to replace that with onions. It is all fried. When they called my number and I went and got our tray of food, I was thinking man, why didn’t we go to Mexican? BUT, it was delicious. I got the fish and my daughter got shrimp and we split each other’s. The fish and shrimp both were wonderful. It was a great tasting breading and very fresh tasting. I loved it even though it was not what I was expecting.

If you want to go somewhere that is trendy and has luxury décor — go somewhere else. On the other hand, if you want the BEST fried fish… this is as good as it gets at a restaurant. Their fish comes from Iceland, and is flown in fresh daily. Recently, they have started efforts to improve the décor & aesthetic by putting down new carpet and getting some murals done on the walls(but who cares about any of that???) — in the end, its still a fish house. Large portions and one of the best values you can get anywhere. The fish is light and flaky. And the clams & scallops are out of this world. Very highly recommended!

This place is a childhood memory filled with the smell of fish. It’s really fun. No frills type of place, there is usually a wait for the seafood but its really really good! Just don’t wear any clothes there that you want to smell like seafood after. seriously, my dad and i would go to this restaurant a lot and mother would require us to not wear our jackets inside because the smell would follow you. PS get the hot mustard… seriously, it goes great with the fish.

I’ve frequented this establishment for probably 25 years and not much has changed… unfortunately. The fish is good although it seems quite pricey recently. I like the fact that you don’t get bread with it… you can enjoy the fish more. But I have to admit I have stopped going there recently because of the lack of attention to the cleanliness and updates to décor. I know it’s become sort of a «roadside dive» type of place but I’m not sure that’s what was intended. The overhead lighting fixtures have been there for at least all the 25 years or more I have gone there. They have yellowed and seriously need to be updated. It’s pretty drab and dingy looking. The flooring looks as though it’s been ther just as long as well as the pinecone wreath that’s on the waiting area wall. Not sure it’s been dusted in a very long time. As for the ‘Fish Nazi” at the counter that takes your order, a course in people skills and cracking a smile occassionally wouldn’t hurt him. All in all a good place for fish but don’t expect much else.

Everything on the menu is fried. But if blood is running through your veins, you’re pretty much ordering the«fish», which is white and battered and fried and I’m not sure there’s anything else to know or say. It’s good, hot, fried. Emphasis on fried. Wood paneling is genuine. Old-people vehicles in parking lot came packed with old people. «Lemon aid» is Country Time. Ketchup only upon request. Hush puppies 15 cents. Extra sauce *14* cents. Get the basket of fried pickles. Seriously, it’s enormous. My co-worker said her mom used to go to the restaurant when it was in the location that preceded this one. I think she was talking about an era that ended several decades ago. Which is kinda awesome.

How can you go wrong with a Clarksville tradition! I grew up in Clarksville and we always ate at Clarksville Seafood. Great fish, and scallops! Its fried and yummy! Their onions are to die for! Just drive down Eastern Blvd and the smell will hit you! Awe, I can smell it now! One piece of advice, call ahead if you dont know their schedule, because they do have weird hours!
