I am sad that I have to write this review, because the owners of this hotel are REALLY nice. But honestly, this was the WORST roach motel my husband and I have ever encountered, and we are cheap travelers. We needed an emergency place to stay when our campsite was full, and the Holiday Inn was $ 149, so we were thrilled when we found this place for $ 50. I expect a certain level of «yikes» from a motel that cheap, like there being no light covers, stained, old furniture, and questionable bathroom fixtures, all of which this motel had. But when we walked in and the place reeked of mildew and cigarettes, so heavy that we could barely breathe(as a matter of fact, I had multiple asthma attacks during the night and had to sleep with the windows open because the air conditioner didn’t work. Unfortunately it didn’t help much because the lady next door chain smoked and blew it right in our open window), I realized this might be more«icky» than your average roach motel. There were suspicious stains all over the bedspread, so we took it off. There were crusted fluids on the blanket, so we took that off. The sheets had RACINGSTRIPES and other suspicious brown and yellow stains ALLOVERONESIDE; I kid you not. I don’t know in what world it is okay to keep using poop stained sheets instead of throwing them out, but apparently, it’s okay at Budget Lodge. I have no doubt that they were clean, but I was so freaked out at the idea of sleeping on someone’s crap stains that we brought in our camping stuff and put it on the bed to sleep on. The toilet was broken and wouldn’t flush right. There were body fluid stains all over the walls of the bathroom, and the washcloths were YELLOW instead of white(seriously, at that point, just buy brown ones to begin with!) We chose not to shower rather than expose ourselves to whatever«grossness» was likely growing on and under the floor. The place must have had flood damage that was never cleaned up properly,(which would explain my asthma– I am severely allergic to mold) because the floor was actually SQUISHY in multiple places. By the time morning came around, I was exhausted and unable to breathe, and even my husband– who is not asthmatic or allergic– was having trouble breathing. Not only is this place a bad stay, but it’s probably a downright health hazard that should be condemned. My guess is that there is toxic mold under that cigarette-burned carpet. Oh, and it did NOT have Wi-fi, as advertised. Flat out lie, unless they have it just in the little motel office or something. But definitely NOT in the rooms. It did have a nice flat screen TV with a premium cable package, which kind of annoyed me, because I would have much rather had an old TV with a cheap cable package and decent sheets to sleep on. But whatever, to each his own, I guess. But I know this: next time, I’ll either pony up the $ 150 for Holiday Inn or pitch a freakin’ tent in the parking lot before I will EVER stay there again. NOTHING could convince me to sleep in the Budget Lodge EVER again, not a hurricane, tornado, or a zombie apocalypse. I would rather face the undead horde with my camp axe and machete.

I was looking for a quick place to spend the night, and I was looking for something inexpensive. The Budget Lodge was on my way and was the right price. Now you can’t review a Motel on the side of a highway the same as a resort in ski country. All I was looking for was a place to sleep and shower. The room was fairly smallish but not crazy. My problems began when I used the bathroom and quickly found that a mouse or something had begun to eat the soap. The shower was kind of scary and at that point I started to notice more things that we «Off». The antiquated heating system kept the root quite warm. The walls were very thin and I could hear my neighbor listening to some sports channel. When I pulled the sheets back I noticed several hairs and skin flakes waiting for me. I ran down to the car to get a sleeping bag from my car. I wasn’t expecting something special, but I was expecting a little bit more than what I got. I will probablly book a room at a hotel next time I pass through Warren.

this was an awful place to stay. The only good thing about the place was the location and that it was open 24 hours so we were able to check in at 2am. The rooms smelled like old-man aftershave mixed with mildew and cigarette smoke. There were stains on the sheets and towels and the other patrons seemed dodgy at best. We would have rather slept in our car.

Warren is seriously under-served when it comes to lodgings, and when it comes to lodgings that don’t cost an arm and a leg, the pickings get really slim. Fortunately, if you widen your search a little bit, the situation gets better. Budget Lodge is that most unusual of finds: an inexpensive motel which isn’t a dump. Oh, sure, the furnishings are dated. Okay, really dated. Okay, except for the TV and the microwave(and probably the mattress), I’m guessing that all the fittings in my room were original equipment from when the place was built, and I’m also guessing that that was probably in the 1950s. If you’re the kind of person who says, «Darling, we simply must redecorate the living room. That colour is SO last year!» you’d probably hate it. Personally, I find it kind of funky. But the most important thing to me is that my room be clean, and it was. In fact, I’ve stayed in much pricier and allegedly classier places where I was much more dubious as to how sanitary the place actually was. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that you could eat off the floor, but at least you don’t have to worry about what you might catch. No wi-fi, but you can’t have everything.
