Sonic Drive In

Stopped at this Sonic today for lunch while I was visiting Claremore from out of town. It seemed to be the best selection from the block of fast food chains in that area. This location has lots of parking and was pretty busy around 12:00 when I was there. My order was taken promptly by a friendly voice and delivered hot and in a reasonable time. I received my burger and drink just the way I requested it. I’d eat here again.

Large, clean, pretty new Sonic with restroom. No drive thru. Friendly employees and medium speed service. I would rather have it hot and fresh, so I didn’t mind a little wait. My husband gave me a bite of his NY dog, I couldn’t taste the sauerkraut, but the spicy brown mustard gave it a real bite! The first one my husband ate without it falling apart, the second soaked up sauerkraut juice while he ate the first and it fell to soggy pieces when he ate it. Overall, he like it, but said it would be better to only order one. My onion rings were hot, crisp and good. Our cokes were refreshing on the legendary sonic ice.

I must start this review by saying that we very rarely eat at fast food joints. In our travels we find way to many mom & pop, one of a kind places to try.
With that out of the way, I now have to say that we’ve been traveling in Oklahoma for a few days now and it seems that every town we go through, no matter what size, has a Sonic Drive In. Thinking that there must be a resaon for this and finding ourselves hungry when passing through Claremore we decided to stop.
Once we figured out we had to push the button to order (rookie move, I’m sure) we managed to place our order. Gotta say my spicy jalapeño burger was pretty good. And anyplace that serves up tater tots is A.O.K. in my book! The spouse enjoyed his burger as well but was less than pleased with his fries.
Eating in your car seems a little on the lazy side to me and the fact that there was no place close by to throw away the trash was odd but overall it was a decent fast food experience. Would I eat at Sonic again? I wouldn’t go out of my way but if given no other options I’d definately stop.
