I have been to the restaurant three times now in the last year and have found it to be awesome. Great food, excellent staff, timely service! Can’t wait to get back to California and do it again.

My husband and I came here on a double date with some friends on a Sunday afternoon. Upon walking in they told us there was a 30 minute wait for an outside table, and no wait for inside. But because it was such a nice day I wanted to wait. They ended up calling us after 10 minutes to tell us our table was ready. The food and service was really good and I will be back!

I’ve been wanting to eat here for quite some time now and I’m happy I finally did. Went in for their brunch a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. Get there early so you can sit on their patio it seems to get pretty busy. Love the décor of this place. I ordered the eggs Benny with a vegetable hash it was pretty amazing and service was good. Can’t wait to go back on a warm summers night!

Still waiting after 40 minutes. Not sure about the food yet but it takes lots of patience. Great pizza but overbooked pasta.

Fun atmosphere, great service with excellent recommendations, delicious appetizers and easily my all-time favorite cocktail: The Winter Camp. Worth the drive out of town to Claremont — been jonesing for a Winter Camp ever since…

I’m in Downtown Claremont all the time but for some reason haven’t made it to UOY until now. Went on a date there last night and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Service — Our waitress was perfect. Very friendly, great with her recommendations, and the perfect amount of attentiveness making sure you always have what you need without being over bearing. Ambiance — How lucky are we to live in California and in February we can sit outside and enjoy this beautiful weather without heat lamps? Seating in side is minimal and a nice vibe but this place was definitely designed to enjoy dining al fresco. I get a bit of a «palm springs vibe» when sitting outside there. Love that you can play bocce ball, lots of umbrellas, heat lamps, comfortable patio dining, and you can see into the kitchen which I always love. Food & Drinks — My date ordered a bottled beer, I ordered a Moscow mule. My Moscow mule was delicious and everything I look for in a Moscow Mule. We had no intentions of getting pizza when we arrived but after two walked by us as soon as we sat down we got a wiff and we were sold. We ended up picking The Americana and the POW(Pizza of the Week). The Americana has tons of mini pepperoni, fennel sausage, and herbed burrata(yum!) — this was also on a bit of a thicker crust then the POW came out on and was AMAZING. I don’t remember the name of the POW but it was basically a supreme pizza — pepperoni, italian sausage, bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Seriously the two pizzas were amazing — we only got 2 because we couldn’t decide and figured we would have left overs for us both to have lunch the next day(one could be shared by two people). This will definitely be my new fave local spot to grab a delicious pizza with some of the best ingredients. I also love that they use a lot of their ingredients from Amy’s Farm. I actually live near Amy’s Farm in Ontario and am a huge supporter of buying my produce from there and supporting the local community in that way! A+++

We drove from Redlands on a Tuesday night to have dinner here because it’s a favorite of ours. The place was half full, and after 45 minutes of waiting they told us they still couldn’t seat us, and didn’t know when they eventually could. The worst part is, we went to The Junction for dinner instead. I don’t know if I’ll ever forgive you for that.

Had tried to go here some time ago, but the wait was an hour. Saturday evening, went there on a date night. Was VERY impressed. The wine selection was fabulous and the outdoor seating comfy. Even though it was cold out, the tables were fine under the multiple heatlamps. My wife had some fabulous meatballs and I had the duck breast. One of the best duck I’ve had. Definitely going aback and we need to try the fries.

Nice casual spot in Claremont with great food, drinks, and service. I really liked that they bring you a carafe of water for you to fill up your water glasses as needed. The drink menu has a variety of unique drinks. My husband ordered Baldy Leaves which in the description says«hot honey» it’s not hot as in warm honey but spicy, very spicy! He did not like it but the waiter took it immediately and brought something else with no questions asked. The CHOW or cheese of the day is a great way to try new and different cheeses. We came for lunch and the Spicy Pickle Pepper pizza was very tasty. It’s not for you though if you don’t like spicy. The lunch menu is limited so if your looking for lots of choices, this place is not for you. There are fire pits outside to sit around and have drinks which I think is a great feature. I would definitely come back!

Very cool brunch spot in Claremont with a decent menu selection to choose from. It has a large outdoor patio and indoor area. I met up a group here for brunch and the service was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the Union Cristo, which was good minus the powdered sugar on top. This didn’t take away from the overall taste of the sandwich-I just thought it could do without the powdered sugar. The cranberry jam was a nice touch. I also ordered the biscuits on the side, which were a decent size to share. They came with some type of apple butter that was good too. I tried my friend’s breakfast pizza which had a good flavor. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and there was a bright, airy and upbeat atmosphere in the place. Street parking was available, and I also believe there are lots close by. I would return here if I was in the Claremont area.

Love their drinks such as THEREDDAWN&RUMLICKER. Bartenders are nice too. Decorum is nice both inside and outside. Cool place for friends, date or solo. Haven’t had much of the food other than fries and brussel sprouts(didn’t care for the sprouts).

I really wanted to like this place but the food is pretty average when compared to other places around Claremont. One of their salads give me bad indigestion and the pizza was ok. The first time I was there I ordered a hamburger and it just wasn’t up to par. The taste of the meat was weird, it didn’t have enough taste to it. On top of that the prices don’t match the quality of the food. Definitely not coming back.

First off, CHEFLEO… CUSTOMERSPARKINTHEFRONT… NOTYOUORTHEEMPLOYEES. WHODOESTHAT? Claremont is always tight on parking and everyone knows employees should park the furthest away and CUSTOMERS who pay money and keep your restaurant in business get priority. This parking situation highlights how customer are viewed in a business and this is so unprofessional. In the back parking lot reserved for the restaurant there are 5 reserved spaces and they all say EMPLOYEEPARKING and actually have towing verbiage! So rude! And for the chef to express how MAD he is that a lowly customer would dare park in his space to bring 10 of his employees to spend money at his restaurant is RIDICULOUS. The driver had to leave the restaurant and repark down at the parking structure WHERETHEEMPLOYEESSHOULDBEPARKING and it took 20 minutes of our 1 hour lunch. PLUS, all the reserved spaces for the employees were empty anyway so it made no sense… TOTALEGOISSUECHEFLEO… GETOVERYOURSELF. Anyway, this review was in regards to my lunch yesterday. Service was SLOOOOOOOWWWWW and it was lunchtime and the place was empty! 30 minutes to get 2 ice teas. After 30 minutes we had to get the hostess to hunt down the waiter. We told the waiter we were on a lunch break and have only an hour… he said«perfect!». Perfect? You just sucked up 30 minutes of it doing nothing??? It took 55 minutes for our whole table to get served and they served our appetizers with the pizza. They never bring you everything you need and you have to ask for everything… order ice tea, have to ask for sugar(of course they give you cubes that do not dissovle in cold drinks because God forbid they have Splenda like a normal restaurant). They also don’t have salt shakers or pepper or red pepper or parmesan… you have to beg for all condiments and then they bring them in awkward little dishes like you are the first person who has ever asked for these things. It’s the little things that make this place annoying at times and I think if they would work on putting the paying customer FIRST it would be a much better dining experience. But, what do I know… I’m just a customer!

This is one of the cutest restaurants to eat at. Be sure to ask for a table outside. Their atmosphere is so beautiful, especially at night. They’ve got little lights hanging up and don’t worry about it being chilly, they have outdoor heaters to make it comfy. They also have an outdoor game of bocce ball. Moving on to the food, I came here for a club officer dinner. We tried the calamari, which was average. The margherita pizza pie, which was delicious and fresh. The crust and bread was thin, but the sauce and everything on top just tasted so homemade. Lastly, I split the Dry Aged Delmonico with my friend, which was $ 48. It was an 18 oz. Steak, which we got medium cooked and it included potato and onion gratin, which was my absolute favorite, even if I’m not a big fan of onions. The steak was also amazingly juicy and cooked just right. I also got one of the seasonal mixed drinks for $ 13, and it was on the stronger side. I don’t know if it was worth the price, but I would definitely go back for the atmosphere.

Dear Union on Yale, It is so nice to find a place in Claremont that is pet friendly. We are obsessed and we love our pug, Bambi. She is our everything. Thank you for accommodating our little girl. My wife made reservations for 6:30pm and I am glad she did because you guys fill up fast especially your outdoor dining area. The outdoor area conveys a love for nature and it gave us a sense of dining in someone’s backyard. Your food is phenomenal and rustic. We ordered the Union pizza and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed it to the very last pine nut and arugula. The burrata cheese is delicious. It is very soft and appears like yogurt on top of the pizza. The ingredients were very fresh. The beer selection is on the median side and reasonably priced. Your staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and they know how to listen. One thing is to be an engaging talker but to be a listener takes more. Alexander, great work brother! Union on Yale, we will be back to try more excellent dishes and keep shining! Thank you for the cool dining experience. Sincerely, The Salvador Family

I was going to be in the area, so I decided to try something different. It’s located in the Claremont Village with lots of little shops around. Street parking(unmetered, a PLUS!!) We were seated on their outside patio, which was nice. I see they have fire pits which is probably great on a nice summer evening. Our server was good! No complaints there. She knew the menu well and was efficient. Now on to the food… We split an order of calamari and a Margherita Pizza. I didn’t know you could mess those two things up, but they did. The calamari was lukewarm and had no taste. It must not have been fried properly as it lacked the typical«crunch» you get when you bite fried calamari. It was a little slimy. The pizza had a burnt crust, dry sauce and no flavor. Both dishes were bland. It was a disappointment.

So I find myself back out on the ‘single’ market(after the demise of my 6 year relationship with Thomas Jefferson) and being over the age of 45 has it’s interesting elements… It was a Friday night and I was at Claremont Track about to tear up the bleachers with my Ipod when I heard my cell phone ‘chime’ alerting me that someone had checked-in some place close… It was of course my fearless mixologist friend ‘Lisa’ who(I will admit) NEVER has a bad time any where!!! She had checked-in to say she was playing a game of Rumy at Union on Yale… WHAT?! O. o Everybody knows how much I love playing cards so a quick screech out of the parking lot I did to meet her and the friends at Union on Yale. This was our first stop on our Claremont Pub Crawl =} It was busy… however I did find a perch at the Bar. These guys know how to craft their beverages and they created magic for my NY Sour(Whiskey Sour with a splash of Red Wine) and we commenced to playing our game of cards at the Bar. I must mention that I have been here like 2 times within the last month or so and can highly recommend their pizzas. The Americana The Bianca Spicy Pickled Pepper all of these were amazing! I even had them do a ‘secret menu’ where they combine the Spicy Pickled Pepper with the Americana — that Fennel Sausage is TODIEFOR! one of our posse ordered the Brussel Sprouts they looked good and since they ate the entire plate I am guessing they were happy with their selection LOL On hot summer nights the seating outside is inviting but the coolness of the inside will work just as nice… just know the sound level inside is louder. Service is Terrific Jordan and Alex are my favorite servers. When you go in to dine try and get their stations SUPERB attentive care! Respectfully Reviewed

Love this place! We came on a Friday, late afternoon, and was seated right away. We opted for outdoor patio seating and there was a band playing live music right across the street so it was perfect. As the night wore on it got pretty crowded so I think a reservation would be ideal for dinner time, especially during the weekends. Alexander was very helpful and knowledgeable on giving us recommendations, especially when it came to drinks. My date got the 3 Monts Pale Ale beer which was close to 9% but it was so smooth and tasty. Definitely a killer! I wasn’t sure on which cocktail I wanted and Alexander gave me a couple of suggestions. I ended up with a drink called Amy’s Farm. Delicious and refreshing! APPETIZERS: Brussel sprouts 5⁄5 — I’m a huge brussel sprouts fan so I tend to be extremely picky with it. Here, they have just the right flavors and crisp to it. Not overly crunch nor is it super soggy. Pâté Maison 5⁄5 — Pâté is also another weakness of mine. You can’t go wrong with this platter. It comes with some mustard and sour pickles, bread, and pâté. The pâté is so flavorful. MAINENTREES: Crispy duck skin 5⁄5 — I am NOT a duck fan. My date is and this was his choice but I ended up wishing it was mine when it came out! The meat is tender and soft, and the skin had a crisp to it. Served over a bed of crunchy, black rice. So good! Halibut 2⁄5 — I wanted a healthy choice for my entrée that night and the halibut stood out for me. I was fairly disappointed in it. It was super dry and tasteless. Avoid this at all cost. All in all, this is a great place for any occasion: date, girls’ night out, family outing, friends’ dinner, etc. Service is excellent with a decent amount of drinks/dinner choices. I would come again!

Have you ever been told you have to visit a restaurant just to try the Brussel Sprouts? No? Well, you have now. Sure the vibe has a weird/cool jazz, artsy-fartsy, swanky 1950’s feel to it, mixed with some Old World charm, complete with a wood fire pizza oven at the back, & spacious patio to enjoy your somewhat high-priced fare. The food is almost as mixed as the art & décor, but to put it simply, think of it as American-themed comfort food mixed in with some artisinal Italian twists. The Brussel Sprouts were my favorites– crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned– but the pizzas are varied and legit, the comfort food is hearty, the desserts are decadent, & the drinks are boozy,(and pricey). Their seasonal cocktails, in particular, are deliciously fruity, refreshing, and well-balanced. If you’re looking for something new & out of the norm, this is the joint for you.
