It’s true, this place is a gem. The moment you walk in you get that ambiance. I was wearing slippers when I walked in and already felt like I was echoing throughout the library. I felt like I had to be as quiet as a mouse lol. It seriously is a great place to get some solitude. So I asked around and parking on the street is free after 3 – 4:30pm(don’t quote me, you might wanna ask Campus Safety to clarify), any time before that you can get a free parking permit through Campus Safety located on the corner or Dartmouth &8th street. Also I inquired about WiFi, they stated it is only available to students who have a login and currently don’t have a guest WiFi available. However, I was able to connect to «CINE». I guess it’s up to you to find out if it works, it is my first time here and it was just fine for me. Oh! And did I mention this places closes at 12am? But call ahead and clarify. Not sure if the current number listed on here is up to date so this is their number: 9096074391

One of my favorite places, period. The architecture is beautiful! Nice strong, earthy wood and magnificent arched windows. The tables are both wide and long so you can spread out. I never had a problem getting a table in the main study area all to myself, but when I wasn’t studying, I like to come here to just read. Truly a gem!

#16. Honnold can get overrated sometimes. The Denison Library is quite small, but it’s an awesome place to study. Fewer people come here to get their work done, so you can essentially hog a table for yourself. __________ My 2¢: — I hate to give this little secret away, but the best part of Denison is the back room. Once you enter the main reading room, go down the stairs. It’s arguably my favorite study spot and is almost always empty when I’m here. Hopefully this review won’t affect its rate of occupancy.

Entrée Vous Denison Library: and you’re in my dream. Since I was a little Janine I have dreamed of such a fairytale library built of stone, beautiful woods, high arched ceilings, and stained glass. Ella Strong Denison helped make my dream come true, when she presented Denison library with the 21 vibrant stained glass windows on the balcony and lower floor in 1939, eight years after the library’s inception. Walking into the main reading room, one is greeted by a real, true fireplace. Absolute deliciousity and warmth, yes, yes. Like anything worth its weight, Denison is not only aesthetically beautiful, but also beautiful for her content. She houses very rare Aubrey Beardsley, TS Eliot, and Gertrude Stein collections. Listed in her card catalog there are over 1,000 recordings on vinyl and cassette of amazing stuff – some stuff that is not available anywhere else: spoken word, poetry, theater, prose, etc. These include things from TS Eliot and old Gertrude herself. These materials can be checked out! Some standouts I remember are Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats(read aloud by the master himself) and Gertrude Stein doing a poetry reading, both on vinyl. Can one get a card if one is not at one of the 5Cs? Yes one can, it’s just really expensive if one does not live in Claremont or is not a student. The library is open to all researchers. This library has many small nookish areas for you to be alone in, including an entire sunken study room with wall-to-wall bookcases done in deep woods dedicated to women’s studies. Denison, you are but a dream(come true) to me!
