Service was horrible. Waiter was rude and didn’t check up on us at all. Didn’t refill my water and was hovering over me when I slid my card and asked how much I’m tipping. When I chose «no tip» he snatched the card machine from my hands and didn’t care to say thanks for coming in or anything. I highly DONT recommend this location. Gresham locations are so much nicer.

Cool atmosphere & great Margaritas! First time there and I thought the chips & salsa was delicious We ordered a taco salad and enchiladas (beef/​chicken) it was good but not the best Ive had… that said Its close to my house so I will be back for drinks & more chips lol

We’ve usually enjoyed coming to La Costita, but today not so much. It took over 45 minutes to get our food, mine was already cold, and my wife’s wasn’t what she ordered. In compensation, they comped one soda…

Until now we have been regular customers at this restaurant, but no more! My husband found a tooth (yes, TOOTH!!!) in his food tonight. It was in his bite of food and he almost swallowed it! When we showed it to the waiter he took it back into the kitchen. When he returned he said they’d found the person it belonged to, and then handed us our bill. They had discounted my meal (which was the substantially cheaper one) by 50%. My husbands meal (where the tooth was found) was full price, along with beverages. The manager never even came to our table to apologize or anything. I am furious and disgusted!

We had almost given up on this place, but decided to give it another try and have been back twice since. They must have gotten new management because the service has been amazing and the food has been great. We have been seated quickly and our food has come out fast. Glad to have a good Mexican place so close to home!

Admittedly not my favorite Mexican resteraunt in town, it is the closest to home so thought why not? Have eaten here 6+ times and was ok.
Checked in for 1, sat down and waited for literally 20 minutes and watched them seat at least 5 – 6 tables in front of me.
Couldn’t take it any more and left. NEVER again. Better mex food at Mi Pueblo on 82nd anyway, just gotta suck it up and drive the extra 10 minutes from now on.

Food is really great, the problem I have is the staff wearing so much perfume that when they come to our table it takes minutes to dissipate. I don’t want to smell your rank perfume. You are going to work, not out to a club. Hard to eat with so many perfumes and colognes vying for the spotlight. We still come, but I sure wish the owner/​manager would realize this isn’t great.

My previous review was three stars. Gotta say they have upped their game. Service tonight was excellent, food hot and delicious, the chips were fresh, and the salsa had just the right amount of cilantro. My family always sits in the bar because it is quicker and not so crowded with very little wait time. If you want a great meal ask if they have the special carne ahumada such a great dish!

My son and I came here tonight and after sitting and waiting at the table for over 10 min someone came over and asked us if we were here to eat!!! I thought to myself why would someone be seated in a restaurant if you were not there to eat!!! After we ordered we waited for the food and drink to come. My drink came after the food was brought to the table. I would not think it would take that long to get a margarita. The food was your standard mexican food. Nothing special to me.

Not sure what happened to this place. They have beem my favorite for years. But the service has dropped considerably. Food quality hanging on by a thread. I could list the problems with my service today but it was endless. And this waiter has been there for some time.
When you pay for your meal the waiter is standing their asking you to hit the tip amount on their handheld scanner.
Until they do a complete change over they won’t get back to the respectable and enjoyable place they used to be.
Very disappointing.

I really like this place but it’s so expensive. Margaritas are my favorite, but I can’t justify buying them when they cost more than my meal. I always sit in the bar when I come– much easier to get a spot and they have Enchiladas Mexico on their happy hour menu which is a great deal and absolutely delicious.
Updating this review– went two nights ago, got happy hour’s Enchiladas Mexico for $ 4 and my tiny margarita was $ 6.95.

While the hostess who seated me was friendly and helpful — this 1 star review is mainly for the high prices, sub-​par food, and having to consume and pay money to have to drink the worst margarita I’ve ever tasted in my life.
I’ve traveled to three different parts of Mexico and stayed in each region for at least a week and ate out at restaurants at every meal. My mother is Latin American and I grew up in California where there was tons of awesome authentic Mexican food available everywhere. So I have plenty of places to compare this one to.
If you want awesome authentic Mexican food in Portland — I would recommend either Tamale Boy or Tortalandia — my two favorites. Tortalandia makes the best margaritas I’ve ever tasted as a matter of fact.

I love the staff they are so friendly and kind. They are good with groups, and very patient with you.
They even sang happy birthday to my sister in law!
Great food, and a great time!
Only criticism is that I had was that they could have topped off my water more! Thanks!

Ugh. This place is terrible. My wife and I gave it three tries because it is close by the house and we hoped maybe the first two times were flukes. They were not. Food does come quick. Too quick. The microwaves are obviously the most used appliance in the restaurant. Terrible and bland food. I’ve had frozen burritos that were more authentic.
Three strikes your out. Don’t waste your money.

Great food. Great service. Here for a staff meeting. Booths were tall so we could hear each other easily. Kept things a little more private. Restaurant was clean and décor was nice.
I’ll be back with my family. I thought it was a nice place.
I had the Pollo tropical salad. It was big and lots of fruit and chicken. Salad dressing was a simple cilantro and oil mix. Tasty.

I am a local and have been coming here for years. It seems like every time I come the menu changes. It us really going downhill lately. The service was painfully slow, the food bland, and our glasses were always empty.
Next time I need Mexican Food, I will drive on down the road and dine elsewhere.
