Don’t order the crab fried rice unless you enjoy overcooked rice and swallowing or chewing on crab shells! And don’t bother to mention it to the waitress when she asks how everything is! If you let her know that there’s too many shells in the crab fried rice, she’ll simply say«Sorry» and immediately scurry away to the back while informing her co-worker so she, too, will avoid your table! They won’t care to comp the meal or offer a different dish to satisfy their customers. And when it’s time to pay for the bill, they’ll actually have the nerve to ask if you want to take that shell-invested dish to-go.

Love this place. Food are Great and big portion. Sometime it is a bit Empty but I think it has to do with the demographic in the area. Love the Pig Feet Stew!

I came here for lunch today, we ordered on the phone @ 12:45 and my food wasn’t served until 01:46. I had a simple dish chow mein with shrimp so you would think it would be one of the first plates. My chow mein was cold, little to no veggies inside, had exactly 5 shrimp shells/tails floating around and a few pieces of «beef» which made me really question if this was leftovers from a another customers plate with all the shrimp tails and shells it had in it. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

This is probably the best Thai food joint outside of downtown LA. The pad see ew never disappoints, ask for less oil if you’re health conscious. Tom yum soup is bomb! I just found out they have a new lunch menu. $ 7.99 for pad see ew, pad ka pao, green curry, what a deal!

Went here for New Year’s Eve dinner, all bad. Every dish I ordered is so salty. It was so bad that my dad got bloody nose while he was trying to swallow his food. All that salt must have bought his blood pressure up. What a way to end the year… sorry dad

first time here. Much better than we thought! We ordered a green curry chicken, raw shrimp salad, fish cake and morning glory. Everything was good! Especially their fish cake, its so yummy! And I’m glad that they have the raw shrimp salad, cuz forgot since when banana bay stopped serving that, n now I know where to get it.

My favorite Thai spot. I’ve spent some time in Thailand and I have to say this spot brings me back. Try the spicy raw shrimp salad!

In my opinion, the best Thai restaurant within a 20-mile radius of Rowland Heights. I’ve been here on multiple occasions and I’ve enjoyed every visit, every dish. These guys aren’t afraid to give you something truly spicy and packed with flavorful herbs. That is how Thai food should be. If I’m not cooking at home with friends, I try to come here for Thai food.

Best Tom Yum Goong & green curry I’ve ever had! Service is ok, depends on whoever waits on you that day. Can’t believe I didn’t know of this place sooner! I’d always recommend ordering w/rice because their food is salty, flavorful, & rich.

My first impression was, «The best Thai from Hollywood but closer!» Looking through the many Thai locations to choose from in OC, I would say Ruen Pair is one of the top on my list. The food is very savory and more on the spicy rather than sweet side. I’ve had so many dishes here, some of my favorites include papaya salad, padkeemao, padseeew, padthai, green curry, fried catfish, priking, and their house fried rice. The noodles are fried and tossed until it is charred which is what I’m always looking for with good Southeast Asian food. The dishes are sharable portions and the sauces is what makes everything so rich and delicious. The lasting impression? «My go to place in OC for all those Thai cravings!»

I went to Ruen Pair over the weekend with my parents and thought it was awesome! We are Thai, so we are partial to Thai food and this pace hits the spot! First of all, the restaurant is under new management since July 1, so do not pay attention to any old reviews that were negative because it seems to clearly have something to do with their previous management team. I did not encounter any problems that others mentioned. The service is really great. Friendly waitresses and excellent service. We asked the waitress to suggest a dish, and she suggested the Papaya Salad. The chef also came out and greeted us which was really nice of her! The Som Tum(papaya salad) seemed to be ordered by EVERY table in the restaurant, so I highly recommend to order that! It was delicious. Other dishes we had included: Neau Num Tok(medium grilled sliced sirloin tossed with mint leaves, lime juice, green onions, cilantro and toasted rice powder) and Spicy Catfish. For dessert we had mango sticky rice and Ruam Mit(sweet cocunut milk dessert) The desserts were very authentic and taste as if I were in Thailand! Portions were great! I think others who mentioned that portions looked small don’t realize that the bowls are quite deep. We ordered three items for three of us, and we had left overs as well! The desserts were well portioned for more than one serving. Needless to say, my parents were really pleased with everything! I noticed that they had really good lunch specials that I want to try next time!

Under new management! This is very authentic Thai food! Usually my mom(who is Thai) is a hard critic when it comes to Thai food but a lot of what we ordered smelled and tasted just like hers! Desserts were yummy too!

We did not know about this place until recently. Very clean and calm family restarant. Food selection is not as vast but different compared to Banana Bay. Food is not as heavy as other Thai restaurants. Staff and owner lady is very nice. When we came, most customers are Thai.

Several years ago when this place opened as an extension of the original in Hollywood, the food was great and authentic. After some changes in management, the food cost has risen and the quality has dropped. I was served a colorless and Luke warm tofu soup. The mint leaf chicken lacked any depth of flavor of which that dish is famous. I’m so disappointed. So on to my hunt for the best of Thai in west covina!

My sister is the queen of Thai food and we usually like making a trip down to Thai Town for their authentic Thai food but Ruen Pair opened a restaurant in Hacienda Hts. We got their Tom Yum Seafood Soup in the hot pot with Rice Noodles. We also got their Pad Kee Mao and overall it was just like Thai Town. We were both happy to not have to drive so far.

Upon multiple visits here, I’ve learned why Ruen Pair was so high praised in Hollywood. If you know what to order, there’s quite a lot this restaurant has to offer. On my most recent visit, I had opted to get 3 dishes that I’ve been craving. –Thai ISSAN sausage, an appetizer plate of delicious savory Northern style sausages served with peanuts, ginger, and Thai chili. The sausage had been infused with rice like Korean blood sausage. The meat was tender and packed with flavors. When you eat it with peanuts and a bite of Thai chili pepper, it’s superb. –Half order of the BBQ Thai chicken, served with a sweet sauce which I didn’t use. I think this dish is called Gai Yang in Thai. The meat was wonderfully seasoned. So there was no need for a sauce. One thing I did noticed. The chicken breast meat becomes dry if you don’t eat it while it’s hot. So for this particular dish. Go for the white meat first because moisture tends to escape as it cools down. Larb with beef, pretty much Thai meat salad. Made from Toasted sticky rice powder(khao khua), this was the dish I was most excited to try. I got an order of steamed sticky rice($ 1.50) to go with this dish, and it was amazing. Though I thought the portion was a little on the small side, all in all, a very tasty dish. My friends ordered the yellow curry and pad Thai. One of the complaints from my friend about the curry was that after eating all the dishes I had ordered, it was too flavorful, and totally overpowered the flavors of the curry. My other friend ordered the pad Thai. I had a taste, it was pretty good. I usually don’t like pad Thai due to it being way too sweet. But Ruen Pair did a great job balancing out all the sweet and savory flavors. Serve is always good here. Food is slightly on the more expensive side(for Asian food). But you don’t have to deal with LA traffic and go to Hollywood for an authentic experience. We are blessed to have such a great restaurant here in the 626.

Like others have said, the service here is really bad. And the food isn’t all that great either. I came in for lunch today and ordered the CHAPO rice with a side of Thai tea, the CHAPO rice came with little meat and lots of rice. I mean, tiny amounts of meat… so little that you would look at the plate and go «oh really?» The lady that serviced me took at least 20 minutes to get me my drink, I had to remind her so that she wouldn’t forget(it wasn’t even that busy!). I really don’t think I would go back to this place, next time I will go to some place closer like Thai Specialty II instead.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, papaya salad this and pad see ew that. Who cares? You can get any of those dishes at any other Thai restaurant. Ruen Pair offers a number of less popular Thai food items that you cannot typically find anywhere outside of Thai town, so do yourself a favor and dabble in that corner of the menu. Two of my most favorite offbeat menu items include: Black egg and basil– Preserved black eggs sauteed with chili and topped with DEEPFRIEDBASIL. BOOM! Flavor explosions in your mouth. The sauce that accompanies the eggs is so succulent and flavorful that I often just mix it right into my rice. Chinese broccoli stir fried with crispy pork– BOOM! Vegetables topped with deep fried crispy pork? Ingenious. Ruen Pair– I hope you stay in business forever because Hollywood is much too far for me to drive to.

Found this place on Unilocal. My boyfriend wanted to eat Thai food and we were trying to find one nearby. Unfortunately, almost all Thai restaurants that popped up near the area had 3 stars or below rating except for this one having 4 star rating. I know I cant really depend on the ratings alone but I thought it couldnt be worse than Banana Bay. The restaurant itself was pretty spacious and big. They were quite a few customers inside on a monday night. Almost packed I should say. My boyfriend and I love seafood and he noticed there was crab fried rice so we got that and another stir fried noodle dish Pad Kee Mao with chicken. Pad kee mao(sp?) was pretty good but because I cant handle spicy food as much as I would love to, I rather eat Pad See Ew. We ordered it medium spicy level but it was a little too spicy for me whereas my boyfriend was actually eating with extra chili sauce, he said it wasnt spicy at all. But it was good nonetheless. Crab fried rice was my favorite. I love noodles so much but I have to admit I think I like rice a bit more. This fried rice wasnt greasy at all and it had plenty crab meat in them. Yes, they were real crab meat not imitation crab meat you see in Asian markets. I asked before I ordered. Crab fried rice was almost perfect, I enjoyed every second of it. I would love to come back and try their Tom Yam Goong & Satays.
