Avoid this place at all cost, overpriced and dishonest! I went here to fill up gas, first mistake as they charged 10−15% more than the previous/next gas station. Then, I was flagged down by which now seems like the only English speaking Indian(not native-American, middle eastern) fellow who works at this station… he told me I will need chains to cross the summit… shoot, ok then. Not only do they charge you 3−4x the average cost for chains($ 100+), but they also had to sell me an adjuster because they didn’t have the exact set I needed? I was in a rush so I got them, but not before first asking if I don’t need/use them, can I bring em back that day? I believe the guy behind the counter said sure(note previous comment about their inability to communicate in English). Get to the summit, I hand the people my chains because I don’t deal with that kind of thing… guy tells me not only did I not need them, but I also had the wrong type of chains! On my way back I dropped by and the customer service there is non-existent. They take the chains and then hands me a phone to the guy who flagged me down in the first place(probably), just to tell me no refund… because they stamped my receipt?!? Based on the CA Consumer code, that is not legal… not a surprise, as I wouldn’t expect them to obey the law, as I’m suspicious if they are even here in the US legally. So I told them I’ll just file a claim with my credit card company, which I did, and already got a refund based on the fact they sold me the wrong chains to begin with. In the end, avoid these cheats/thieves… just wait an extra 5 – 10 minutes for the next station and save yourself money and a headache. P. S. They are now Chevron… but with the same business practices and horrible reviews.

We stopped here last weekend to take our daughter out for some fun in the snow. This place has a great hill for sledding! PLUSPARKINGISFREE! There was some snowfall so the facilities were a bit wet, but the staff seemed to keep up on it to make entering as safe as possible. This seems to be a very popular spot as there were at least a hundred people there at any given time during the day! They have a parking attendant who was very nice and helped aide people in finding a place to park. So, I’ve read the other reviews, which made me cautious, but it seems that maybe some people have unrealistic expectations on the feasibility of keeping things like the bathroom clean with the foot traffic during snow/rainfall. What do you expect? Just do your business and get back to the hill! Oh, lastly, grab a cup of the Mexican hot chocolate! Yumm!!!

DONOTBUYSNOWCHAINSFROMTHEM — SHADYBUSINESSPRACTICES Rude, shady business practices. stopped on our way to Reno, NV and employees were telling everyone there was a chain control ahead. It was very busy and they were pushing sales of their snow chains. My mistake was listening in the first place. Bought the chains, $ 140. First tensioner broke, had it exchanged. They were happy to exchange that… put chains on and drive off. @25mph 5 miles down the road, one of the chains break. To make matters worse, there was no chain control. We all were dupped. Returned to at least exchange the chains for a nonbroken set. Was rudely told off, rude employee even tried to tell me how business works, even though I have a business degree. Points to a VERY tiny sign that says all sales final. Looked up price of the chains we bought, $ 50. Figures. Shady business, creating panic to sell a cheap item with a 200% mark up then hide behind a small sign that no one can see so they can keep all the money. I just want an exchange so i can actually use what i paid for. But now i would be happy with a refund as i never want to see these shady excuses of human beings again. OH, she even stupidly admitted in front of other customers that here have been several other customers complaining about their chains breaking after a short drive.

This place is definitely in the middle of oceans of snow. Which is kind of cool because there were kids sledding and playing around in the snow as their parents gassed up and stretched. Perfect place to take a rest stop before hitting north tahoe — got me all juiced for arrival at our cabin. The bathrooms are dark and a little run down. The stalls were… cozy. Just do your business and go! The snack shop had your basic food necessities and some last minute tahoe stuff(beanies, gloves, etc). Your average gas station — don’t expect golden toilets.
