So sad to hear this charming little theater has closed: I saw two shows at New Stage Collective while visiting Cincinnati this past winter. The History Boys and Striking 12 were both really good. The latter is one I could imagine seeing each holiday season, a pleasant little gem of a show. The NSC staff was friendly, the atmosphere comfortably quirky, and prices a good value. Seating was general admission and the back row seats were the most comfortable. I loved that. Bottom line, the theatre arts scene in Cincinnati just lost a jewel :-( Best of luck to all involved, whatever their next step may be!

Fresh out of college, Artistic Director Alan Patrick Kenney and a few of his friends started creating theatre in Cincinnati. They didn’t have a resident space and were using the Know Theatre space and performing at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival a few years. Now they have emerged as a professional theatre company with their own theatre space located in the heart of Over-the-Rhine. The space was previously owned by a night club and offered them a lot to work with in turning it into a performance space. The NSC has been doing a lot of fresh new plays as well as a few classics here and there. Right now a play named ‘Bug’ is playing that I know nothing about, but I am seriously excited to see ‘Jerry Springer: The Musical’ which is playing starting June 26. Go check them out and see their new diggs. The theatre is also a venue each year for the Fringe Festival so you can catch many acts playing here too!
