La Cascada

After a very bad experience at Lazy Frogg, my family and I decided to go to a restaurant where we always get good service, good food, and a warm welcome, La Cascada. It is a nice little restaurant across the street from Lazy Frogg and we have never had a bad experience. Yes, it is a bit low budget but that is because the owner is trying to makes little bit of money, not lose it. The staff there appear to love their jobs, and even if they don’t, they put up a good act. They are all speak genuine Spanish and all appear to be of Spanish decent. I saw a review that said that the meals seem generic. To that I say that everyone that is not American probably thinks that all American food is bland because it all seems to be fatty and/​or deep-​fried. Like I said, I love this restaurant and will continue to go to this restaurant regularly.

Well there must be a reason this place gets bad reviews. Seriously, warm yucky guacamole. And if that isn’t bad enough for you, it was for us… we went Accross the street and ate at the Lazy Frog. We hadn’t looked back! It was really you. If you go to the lazy Frog get the Tiramisu martini omg so good.

How I want to love La Cascada. Oh, how I do… it just isn’t meant to be.
This restaurant is literally a minute from my house… if that. So, it is a very convenient option for dinner.
The service is alright, and the inside is nicely painted and everything. No problems there. It’s just that the food is… ho-​hum. I really wish I didn’t have to say that, truly. I want to support a restaurant like this. A Mexican restaurant in Cicero? Great! It’s just… it’s not that great, when you get down to the food.
If, indeed, there weren’t other Mexican restaurants in the area that were better, I would be overjoyed to have La Cascada on hand. Today, however, there is Rio Grande right down the road by Wolfie’s, and multiple options in Noblesville.
If I could give this restaurant 2.5 stars, I would. I really want to like it, and some of their food is alright. There’s just nothing I’ve had here that jumps out at me. I sadly just don’t think this place is worth the time when there are better restaurants right nearby.
As far as being better than that Toucan Annie’s place that used to be here, and Las Rocas in Noblesville that used to be a second La Cascada… that’s true. Toucan Annie’s was, in a word, awful, and the Noblesville location was mediocre at best.

We went for dinner on ⁹⁄₁₆ and the waiter offered us the margarita special. 16 oz for 12 oz price of 5.99. when we received our drinks, we questioned the server about the size and he again stated they were 16 oz. We asked him about the next larger size we saw on the table next to us that was clearly much larger and he told us that it was an 18 oz. To prove a point, we poured the ice from one of our drinks and ordered a 12 oz beer. We poured it into the glass and confronted the server. After his discussing it with the manager and my telling him it was wrong and bad business, I asked him to show me the pricing of the 12 oz. It was the same as the specially priced 16 oz. He never apologized or accepted any wrong doing. He claimed he was just a waiter and then took the beer off the bill (which we never took a drink of). When we checked out, the same manager asked us if everything was good. I told him that I didn’t like being lied to, after questioning the waiter twice about the size and that it was wrong and bad business. We tipped the right amount of 20 percent and said we would never return. All he had to say was thank you and smiled. I would prefer to give a zero star rating on customer service, but that isn’t an option.

As far as the food is concerned, this location is much better than the Noblesville location. The portion sizes seem larger and the food itself just tastes better. Service is fast and prompt but not overly friendly. Menu is large and there are daily specials. They are happy to make vegetarian modifications when they can as well, which I appreciate. I like the décor and ambiance at La Cascada but it always seems kind of on the chilly side. But, what can you do? It’s clean and colorful but not over the top. Menu consists of your basic Mexican fare selections with a few twists, like a Mexican pizza and a wide variety of fajitas. The fried ice cream is pretty delicious and the sopapillas are pretty tasty as well, thought the strawberry sauce didn’t seem very «authentic.» If you are in the area, this is a great place to grab lunch or dinner if you are hankering for some Mexican.

Our family enjoyed this Mexican restaurant. The menu is diverse, it has a children’s menu, the service was prompt and courteous. For quick, reasonably priced family dining, it is a good choice.

Much better than Toucan Annie’s! They have a very nice sized menu, and all of the food is very good! If you’re ever in Cicero come on by!

Decided to try out La Cascada with a few friends, my girlfriend, and my father the other night. I must admit as soon as I walked in I was impressed with how clean and well decorated this place is. It’s pretty obvious La Cascada is relatively low budget, I do believe they have another location in Noblesville though. Regardless, I was pleased to see what they had done with the place. It’s located just across the bridge in Cicero where many restaurants have failed.
We were first served chips and salsa with our drinks while we looked over the menu, which is one of the biggest menus I have seen. Don’t get too excited though, super large menu and zero diversity. Almost everything will come with pico de gallo, guacamole, rice, and/​or tortillas. I was just really disappointed to see that the chef or owner wasn’t able to come up with a few fresh, exciting, and different side options. To be fair, I did try some of the guacamole and it was very good.
I decided to order the «Fajitas Chihuahua» dish, which was a combination of chicken, shrimp, steak, and bacon with sauteed peppers and onions on top of a cheese sauce, served in a skillet. This was a very safe choice on my part, but I really can’t stress enough how boring their menu is. I don’t want to go into a Mexican restaurant and order something you’d typically find anywhere else. I like to try new things, and see that a small town restaurant can compete with the big guys.
I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. It was good, but it was too simple of a dish to mess up. Nothing special about it. The service was pretty awful. Our server was quiet and didn’t seem to care, and didn’t hide it. He didn’t really check in with us to see how our food was, nor did he refill drinks (at least mine). We saw him to take our order, deliver our food, and drop off our check. Don’t get me wrong, it is unbelievably annoying when a server won’t leave you alone, but this was far too little attention.
All and all, La Cascada doesn’t seem like a bad place after only one experience. I will not be returning, because there’s nothing there that excites me. I’d rather eat at Abuelo’s and pay more for it. I’ll give La Cascada 3 stars because what I did try of their food tasted good, but their poor service and overall poor menu was underwhelming.

Ugh… went for a family dinner and we sure did miss Toucan Annie’s that used to be at this location. No lettuce or tomato on dishes. I had a burrito and was ill all night. Really bad Mexican. Lots of better choices in Noblesville, just south of Ciero.
