My wife and I recently returned from two weeks in France. Of course we went through our photos to narrow the trove down to a few select ones which are lifetime memories. OK Unilocalers, you have large photos which you will treasure for the rest of your lives. There is only one place to go for framing these memories which are priceless, Esther’s Framing! I was somewhat apprehensive upon arriving because there were about six photos my wife and I couldn’t determine whether to frame together or separate. Isabel greeted us warmly and cleared a large space to examine our photos. We knew what we wanted on a couple of photos but then there were those six where we were lost. Isabel laid out the six photos and then began shifting them about on the table. Within a couple of minutes she had arranged a collage which was happy, vibrant and ready for framing. Isabel patiently bought out different mats and framing combinations. She expertly listens for customer thoughts while also proving her sage insights. Isabel has been framing for 25 years so she was wonderful insights! Upon departing I looked at my wife and said, «I thought this was going to be way more difficult than it was». All credit goes to Isabel and Esther’s Framing!

This is the best framer we have been to in years. They are extremely knowledgable and are also reasonable. Great service all the way around.

Had an odd size piece framed. Was given several options including some cost saving suggestions. The final piece looked fabulous. The price was reasonable for the final result. It’s a bit out of the way but well worth driving to. Because of the distance it did take me a few months to go get it, but never felt pressured to come get it. My mom is a painter and has actually been going to Esther in TJ for years to have items framed. The work done for her always impressed me. The detail and creativity has been great. Glad there is a closer location. Worth a trip to check out!

Over the past ten years, I’ve had them do all kinds of framing, including diplomas, old family photos, and even a mirror. I used to go to the trouble to go to TJ to have this done, and now that they are in CV, I can recommend them to all my friends!

I had a great experience! I had several pieces I acquired while living abroad and traveling and Esther made they come to life with her framing and backing. She was a true professional and I have recommended this place to many friends. The prices are very reasonable.

An excellent place to get your art or anything framed, but wait time can be horrendous. Some customers feel they are the only ones being served, and take forever to make decisions about their matting and framing. Nevertheless, this place does quality work at affordable prices.

Went here a while back to have 7 different art pieces framed and the experience was amazing. The woman who helped me was patient and genuinely seemed to care about how I wanted the pieces to turn out. The prices are fair and they have a great selection. All of the framed works came out wonderful and I definitely will be back again!

I am an artist and a few years back some of my artist friends shared this find with me. At that time we had to actually buy insurance load up our paintings and go into Mexico. Now that they have an outlet in Chula Vista it is easy to get to and she is so helpful. My frames are not only reasonable but beautiful. They do an excellent job of finishing the back and putting hanging hardware on. All the stuff I hate to do as an artist they do with ease and affordablity. By far the best find for framing in SD. For artist it is a must and for anyone who has unframed prints, degrees, paintings or pictures this is the place to get them done and start hanging them! I love Eshter’s!

I’m sooo glad I found this framing shop. I recently brought them my degree certificate to get framed as I just couldn’t bring myself to spend what it would cost to have it done through the University. I was thrilled when she gave me the total, which was about 75% less — and this was using the museum, non-​reflective, document preserving glass! I was just as thrilled when I picked up my order. I’ve used custom framing services in the past (such as at craft stores); Esther’s framing is just as great of quality at much less.

I have been driving around with two unframed watercolors in my car for 6 years. I have had a huge watercolor of diamondhead in storage for the same amount of time. My excuse for lugging these items around the country (literaly) is that framing is expensive I wasn’t in a position to make the investment in putting $ 200 – 400 in getting these things up.
Well I finally moved to SD and bought a place and the time had come for the investment. I shopped around and prices for frame, glass and mat were about $ 200 for the two smaller peices and $ 400 for the large one.
Cue my friend a local. She had been going to Esther in TJ for years and was thrilled they had a location that did not require a passport. She took me down to pick up her gorgeous framed diploma (double mat, non-​glare glass and wood frame for $ 75) and I was convinced.
This place is amazing. These three peices that were ehh ok watercolors popped to life with the expert color matching they suggested on the mats. I would have been wandering around an art store for hours if I had tried to do this myself and in 30 minutes she had helped me select double matting and frames for each peice.
My total for all three was under $ 300. They were done on time and look gorgeous,. The mats really make a huge difference in the paintings and my family (who gave me the watercolors) could not believe they were the same peices of art.
My only regret is I don’t have more to frame. I am taking all my diplomas and referring Esthers to all my friends. The quality is fantastic, the selection is outstanding and the price is one of the best kept secrets in San Diego.

It is a family business, operated by twins Rosa and Isabel, who learned the craft from their mother. They are patient and have excellent taste when and if you ask their opinion. Each client is special to them. They are creative and every time I go I leave with a smile, convinced whatever I framed would be good enough to hang in a galllery.
