I was in a bind needing a place to stay for a couple nights. I stayed here because the sign said deluxe rooms at budget price. I had looked at a couple of places that were cheaper but felt it would be wise to spend a few dollars more for a nicer room. I have to say that I’ve had better rooms for less money. When I think of a deluxe room I think of a large TV, coffee pot, hair dryer, refrigerator, microwave, and a king size bed. This room didn’t come close to my expectations. As I sit here typing I can feel stale smoke on my face and mustache. When I lick my lips I can taste it. When I arrived at my room I saw a ashtrays all over the room. This would have been perfect if I wanted a smoking room. The desk clerk seamed a bit annoyed that I wanted a non smoking room. She assigned me to another room. IT too was a smoking room. Too tired to fight I figgered it would be alright and just not come here again. Now I’m trying to find a better room with breakfast and a working pool. I would only recommend this hotel if you are a smoker and all other hotels in Chula Vista are booked solid.

I don’t know why this is listed as Rodeway Inn, when it’s listed as Best Choice Inn on other sites, and even on their sign. Oh well. While their rooms are reasonably priced and kept pretty clean, their reservation process is among the most unorganized I’ve ever seen. You’ll call months in advance, a woman says she’s taken your reservation and hangs up without taking down a card number or anything. A couple months before your stay, you call up to check on the reservation. You get the same woman who says she already took your reservation and then hangs up on you. We’ve shown up before with her not even checking any reservation files and just handing us a key. This most recent trip, when we called to confirm that our reservation was still being kept, we got a male voice. He said he didn’t see a reservation for us, made one on our behalf and said the price was going to be $ 53/night. We showed up got that usual woman from before, who once again didn’t check the file and just gave us a room, but wanted $ 70/night for it, completely denying that anyone else would have spoken to us over the phone. This wasn’t the first time the price has changed suddenly with them either. You’ll be quoted a couple hundred bucks for a 4-day stay and suddenly you’re being taken for another hundred. Everything appears to be paper based and mostly handwritten, even with them taking an imprint of your credit card. They may be among the cheapest places to stay if you’re visiting San Diego, but be wary when it comes to sudden elevations in what you pay.
