A gem in Chocowinity! We’ve had several positive experiences here so far dating back to when they served brunch(what a shame they no longer do). The lunch & dinners have all been excellent… really enjoy the filet and sea bass(dinner) & burger(lunch… though, I don’t think they serve lunch anymore either). Service is excellent & staff is courteous/helpful. The décor is very nice & inviting. Fingers crossed that Café Duo remains open for a good long while… it’s the only place nearby in this class since Pia’s in Washington closed.

Nice surprise! Becky, from The Moss House B&B told us about this place and said we simply had to try it. We really didn’t want to venture away from downtown Washington since we could walk everywhere but since it started pouring down raining, we decided to give it a shot. It is only like 3 miles from Washington so no biggie. We walked in and we were one of 4 couples in the place. After we sat a a high-top bar table, we realized that they closed at 9pm… it was 8:20pm so maybe the crowd dies down close to closing? Not sure. The atmosphere was elegant, we felt a little underdressed since we were in shorts flip flops but didn’t get stares or anything. The bar was super classy, if I returned I would def partake in some drinks over there. Our server greeted us and immediately wanted to talk about Springsteen since hubs was sporting a concert tee. She got me a Malbec and hubs a Stella. We were served bread and olive oil so we didn’t get an app. We were both in a steak mood so we both ordered the beef tenderloin, cooked in a red wine sauce and served with haricot vert and mashed potatoes. This meal was borderline best meal I’ve had this year. We were both super pleased!!! Being meat lovers, we loved that the beef was so tender, flavorful, and yummy, cooked just how we both wanted it. There was no room for dessert. Towards the middle of the meal, we realized that we were one of two couples left. I really do not like to be holding up wait staff so the only negative I would say is that I wish they would stay open longer on Friday nights. 9pm seems a bit early but maybe it serves the small town of Chocowinity well.
