I stopped in after getting off the freeway, because the traffic was bad. It was easy to get to, but the parking is limited. The place was packed and the food smells great. I got a Carne Asada burrito, which was too big for me to eat by myself. It was very good, and uniquely spiced. I would have no hesitation in coming back.

FINALLY found a good Mexican food place in the area! We recently moved here and have been disappointed in the 5 – 6 places we tried before stumbling on El Rey. EXCELLENT favors, great salsa and service! They even serve the chips with grilled onions! Yummy! This is our new spot! :-)

I have been going here in a year or so and they still have the best taco salad and avocado salsa. My daughters love their beans and rice. I think the prices went up since I last was there but they are still affordable and well worth the money.

This place is pretty good to have some tacos. I haven’t had a bad experience here yet like some of the other Unilocalers. I would recommend this place for some decent Mexican food.

Okay, so I went here last night. Got a torta and a few tacos. Torta was a 1 out of 5, the tacos were a firm 3 – 5. The water on the other hand was bombbaaaaassss…5−5 I won’t return to this place.

Working people’s taco place that always delivers! Famous for their Mexico City style Tacos Al Pastor — Shawarma inspired pork deliciousness. They keep the meat spinning and slicing it onto tortillas for an authentic taco al pastor. Great salsa bar and free beans with bacon. It’s a little hectic on weekends but worth it.

PROS: Friendly cashier. Free condiments, radishes, spicy carrots and peppers, onions and cilantro CONS: So who in there right mind turns on the A.C. inside a business when the temperature outside is 52 degrees outside? Even the girl behind the counter had a sweater on and her teeth were chattering. OK, the burrito was kinda tasty except for the last two inches which was«RICEONLY» You don’t need a college degree to learn how to spread your food evenly to make a good burrito.. The fish taco was theeeeee worst I’ve ever tasted with no flavor. Yucky! A fresh catch raw fish would have been better. Seriously? Can sodas? YEAH! What am I doing on a cold night drinking sodas anyway. Well, they said they had no hot drinks. Maybe I should have went next door to 7 – 11 for a hot coffee. Tonight the beans were watered down, so I mixed them in with the spicy carrots for flavor. And they weren’t that great because of gas and stomach pains i got from the beans. Then came the smart remark from the cocky so-called cook after I ordered in English. I understood what you said and that remark wasn’t necessary. Keep your dumb dork opinions to yourself. Ooooh, I wanted so much to say something to him… Smack that boy! What’s with the pictures /signs all over the walls. You can’t even see the ones close to the ceiling. Then again, maybe you should put them on the ceilings too and while you’re at it put some pictures, signs on the floor. It’s been years since I was last here and it will be years before I return again.

We were craving some Mexican food and we stumbled upon El Rey through Unilocal. We decided to give it a try and it was amazing! The service was fast and they had a great salsa bar with a variety of salsa and free beans. I had the carne asada, al pastor and carnitas tacos and they were all delicious! My favorite would have to be the Al Pastor. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. I will definitely be back for some tacos and maybe even an al pastor burrito.

Well people I don’t know where to start or how to since it seems like the locals here love this place and for good reason. Let’s talk about the good. I love their salsas and even their stand alone unlimited pinto beans are pretty cool if you can not think too much about the sanitation aspect of it. The size of their burritos are pretty impressive and if you think street tacos are too small, you’ll love this place because they use ¾ size tortillas which are almost full size however the price reflects it too! And now the negative… This is hard part because although the locals might think this review is a little harsh, I can’t really blame them because technically it probably is the best taco stand within 20 miles so I get it. The problem is that there are very few places I’ve been to that are great taco stands and I’ve been to many that had lines out the door and weren’t half as good as El Rey but that said, I’ve been to GREAT ones too and once you visit a great one, you become ruined and the bar is set and you become a battering ram for those who aren’t. Here’s the problem I have with El Rey… Their food is sitting in food warmers!!! God I hate food warmers and if I wanted food warmers I’d go to McDonalds! Great taco stands don’t do this! Their Buche is sitting in a plastic bag for god knows how long and everybody knows good Buche comes straight out of a giant ¼ pot and is chopped up in front of you and placed on a hot tortilla.(Plastic bag? Good grief!!). The same goes for El Pastor and although it wasn’t sitting in a plastic bag it might as well have been. Pastor is suppose to be cut directly from the carousel and onto your hot tortilla because if it isn’t, iT SUCKS! I can’t tell you how disappointed I was with these meats and it left me wondering why people love this place? Maybe they just don’t know better? To add insult to a hungry person, the Pastor was greasy and I had enough oil left in my aluminum foil to cook fried rice! El Rey has the potential for greatness but they aren’t there yet and therefor I have to rate this place a solid 3 star. I hope the owners read this and make their adjustments. I want them to be great!!!

Best Mexican food in chino. Absolutely the best, from food to service. Salsa bar is really good too. El Rey never disappoints.

This is only one of the multiple problems that I had tonight at El Rey. At first they added beans into my order of carne asada fries in which I did not ask for, but they managed to clear up the mess before they gave me my order. Now let me get started with the torta. I asked for a simple all pastor torta with no onions. And sure enough they give me the torta with onions. I told the chef to make me a new torta. Soon enough I get a new torta, only to see that it was a carne asada torta. It’s sad how they pick my food instead of what I want to eat. Well might as well throw out the food because I know they gave me a spoiled tomato. The most disgusting Mexican torta I have ever eaten. A health inspector must be contacted immediately. A picture will be posted on this Unilocal page. Sincerely, Hernan Lara.

We’ve been here three times. My wife loves it but I find the carne asada to be quite dry. Tonight was the second time they have messed up our burrito order: I always ask for ONLY meat, cheese, and pico de gallo but yet again they gave me rice, beans and meat instead. If they can’t bother to make the proper order I can’t be bothered to spend any more of my hard earned cash at their establishment.

Their food is ok but I think it’s way overpriced. they probably tag on the all you can eat beans and salsas on their prices!

The best carne asada around. It is a bit pricey here($ 2.49/taco) but it is worth it. I usually order the asada plate but the Torta Cubana is amazing and huge. Only drawback is the parking — after hours park in lot to the left. Note: as I was sitting in parking lot doing this review some lady opens her car door into my black truck. She apologized after she noticed me giving her the stink eye.

Love the asada burrito. Sometimes the onions are bordering raunchy but last time it was all good. Salsas are really good. The“madre” looks green and innocent but has a kick. I tried the pineapple drink but didn’t care for it. A solid Mexican spot that’s never made me sick.

I don’t eat much meat, but good Al Pastor is worth it. Seeing that El Rey serves it from a spit makes ALL the difference and was worth the stop. Tiny place is a strip mall with only a few parking spots, inside they were packed! Service is nice and super fast, they had our order ready by the time we paid and hit up the salsa bar, perfect timing! Plenty of seating, a bit run down but well maintained. Endless menu, I kept it simple with two tacos and filled up at the salsa bar which is by far the best I have ever seen! Tons of sauces, salsas, toppings, free beans, veggies, everything was amazing! MY husband had the al pastor burrito and enjoyed it as well. Very good meat, made from scratch tortillas, cheap prices, all around authentic good Mexican food, I’ll be back!
