Porky’s Bar B Q

The food is great but management is horrible! I had a great waitress that was trying her best but management (an older lady) was holding her back. So sad she could not do her job because
her manager was being difficult. The manager even looked me in the eye and said I had to wait even though I was before the order placed on the phone. Other customers were complaining about this older lady as well «manager» as well to me. Could be a great establishment with better management and management with manners!!!
Try r&r in concord. Much friendlier and great new or even Gary’s but they don’t take credit cards. I grew up in this area so I’m surprised with the lack of southern hospitality!!!

My brother from Virginia and I decided to eat a BBQ salad last night so we drove up to Porky’s from Kannapolis around 8 p.m. They had a very small crowd at that time and most of the people were already eating what they had ordered. We sat ourselves in a booth which is policy and waited to be served. It took a good five minutes for the lady handling our section to approach us and inquire as to our order. We made it so very easy for her… two BBQ SALADS… blue cheese dressing on the side… two sweet ice teas with lemon… that’s all!!! Five or six minutes later we are finally served the ice tea… then it gets interesting… this is a BBQ ESTABLISHMENT… we only ordered a BBQ salad with dressing… the wait begins… crowd now very slim and most are eating… our waitress never stops to explain delay… she ventured outside… she is heard behind us chatting with several of the other waitresses… five minutes became ten… then fifteen… then twenty-five…finally I talked my brother who has much more patience than myself into leaving… remember…our waitress never gave any explanation for delay… I went right out the door… my brother went to counter to let them know we were leaving and the waitress had the nerve to exclaim” they just «came up»…salads…35 minutes after they were ordered… I heard one of the other ladies working there say… I don’t blame them… will we go back to this establishment… my answer just came up… NEVER!!!

Chicken Pot Pie last nights special. When arrived it was ice cold. Flagged down waitress and told her it needed to be heated. She said I will be back. WHAT! Stop Right There. There is nothing more important than handling a customers complaint about the food, not taking a menu to another table, not getting a drink order from another table, not walking off into the wild blue. It took 2 minutes for her to return, then another 5 minutes for the food to return looking like a nasty blob on the plate. Frankly it should have been free. The solution, take my money else where.

Wanted BBQ on the way back from Charlotte, but not wanting to have to get off in Lexington and go through town. Always see the sign for this place on the interstate and finally pulled off to check it out. The parking lot was full which is a good sign. The people were very friendly when I was ordering. I ordered the pulled pork plate with slaw, beans, and fries. It was very cheap for all of the food you get, plus the hush puppies which I normally don’t care for, but these were crisp, seasoned perfectly, and moist inside. The pork was very juicy and tender. They just give you too much food, which is weird coming from me. I had to eat every bite though, because it was all great. Now I know where to stop when traveling in the area.

So this evening I called in an order and waited about 30 min. and headed over to pick it up. Well. I got there and it wasnt ready. So… I waited and waited. Several people were kind enough to ask me hey have you ordered are you being taken care of? and yes yes I am good. As the partial owner of a family business no matter how small or large an order I know the kitchen gets busy and things get backed up, no worries. After a while the waitresses were looking and talking and called me over and handed me a large to go order but I was like this isnt mine… I ordered a single order. With sweet apologies the owner stepped over and asked what I ordered and herself went back and got my order together quickly and brought it to me. I didnt say a word. Happy and ready to go eat my food at home, the lady next to me said and here is your money back we thankyou so so much for being patient and waiting. I go to porkys quite often and rarely have to wait. I did wait a good while so I was thankful for the money which I will turn around and spend there again haha! so thats great. They are good people and have a good place. I wish they had some honey BBQ sauce though. I often have to get takeout so I can get my own sauce.
and to all of you impatient people. try to run a restaurant, you will see Its not easy, give some mom and pop places a break sometimes. Ive worked in very fast pace environments and slow places too. Sometimes… slow is worth it!

Good breakfast. Quick service and friendly staff. I don’t eat enough to justify the bar so typically get a menu item.

Porky’s… While the name reminds one of the old early 80s movies of the same name, this place is plain, simple, country cooking.
I went for the buffet, which my boss said was very good. Well, he was pretty much correct.
As it was a buffet (you can also order from the menu), I made a point to try as many things as possible, possibly gaining a pound along the way…
Started with a tiny bit of salad. The salad bar was pretty standard, except I think they might make their own dressing. The thousand island dressing was very light in color and had a large amount of the relish in it. It was ok, though…
The fried chicken was ok, the coating tasted good, but the meat, itself, was kind of bland (I’m guilty of salting the living daylights out of food, so it might be better to others). I quickly moved on to the mashed potatoes & gravy, which had beef in it. This was the best thing on the bar, in my opinion, and I went back for more. I saw one bin with something deep fried in it. It looked a little suspect, so I asked what it was. Turns out it was chicken gizzards, so I was glad I asked…
Next, I tried the bbq, itself. They have two types of bbq sauce on the table. The vinegar style and the other. I used the vinegar style and it was very potent. Fortunately for me, I like very strong flavors, so it was a good thing, for me. If you aren’t into strong flavors, go easy with it… The last thing I tried was the chicken pot pie. I’m not much of a pot pie person, so I wasn’t expecting much (I only got a small spoonful). I was correct. If you like pot pie, though, you should be ok with it.
Overall, I recommend the place to anyone liking southern cooking…

Abundant Barbecue buffet with all the Southern style side dishes and a huge salad bar. A great place to stop right off of I-​85. Very courteous service,

Still good but not GREAT…

This is a place to stop because the service is extremely friendly, it is a little out of the way and they have a ridiculous BBQ lunch buffet. The food was good, not out of this world, but the traditional ambience and plethora of smiles made up for the shortcomings of the food.

Was on the way back to Durham from Charlotte and stopped for dinner. My server was pleasant and friendly and took good care of me. I had the barbecue plate. The meat and sauce were good and so were the hushpuppies. The fries were of the frozen variety and were a bit limp. The beans were out of a can, with not a lot of preparation from the can to the plate (maybe a little onion.) The sweet tea was good and refreshing and my server kept my glass filled. This could be a great place with just a little work.

I love this place! The food is always great, the service sometimes, not so friendly, but other times is excellent. I always get the pulled pork and hush puppies. I am now addicted to their BBQ.

I think this was good for BBQ, tad on the dry side. Good service. I think this would be the perfect lunch place.

Stop by today and ordered a foot long and a chopped sandwich with white slaw to go — this was right at 11:30AM. After waiting 25 minutes, 25 flippin minues, I left with no hot dog, no sandwich, no more patience, and no intent of ever coming back to this absolute train wreck of a restaurant. They are so poorly organized that the Federal Government could show them how to improve their effiency.
After placing my order, I stood in front of the window area where orders were placed by the kitchen staff — well, staff maybe be a bit generous. Several times items of food fell, or were jarred, off of plates, and the waitresses simply picked them up and put them back on the plate. Orders would be left sitting for up to 5 minutes while choas reigned all around. The waitress who took my by now obviously lost order, said she was sorry for the delay, and that they had just gotten a rush in the last few minutes. I mentioned that based on the way they were handling it, it must have been the first time that had happen
I ask about my order after 15 minutes, and seeing that folks who arrived after me were getting their orders, and was assured it was only 4 tickets down the line — after several minutes, I was given an order that was not mine. After several more minutes I was given another order, and was in the parking lot walking toward my car, when the woman who appeared to be in charge (again this is a both a generous and charitable description of her position and capabilities) screamed that I had the wrong order — again.
I trudged back into the abyss, knowing full well at this point that all was lost. Inside, I was ask yet again, what my order consisted of — I requested that they simply forget it, and should my order ever appear to give it to someone in need of a cold meal.
