I am surprised by the bad reviews. I agree the front desk staff could use some customer service training, but I have come to expect okay customer service at a doctor’s office. Everything regarding my vasectomy was explained thoroughly. I was given a take home sheet with all the home instructions I needed. The procedure took about 20 minutes and was completely painless. The comment that he should retire is absurd. Dr. Sterzer has been a Urologist for 40 years and has performed over 8000 vasectomies. That is the guy you want working on you. I am glad he doesn’t offer payment plans. Your doctor is not a bank. He is a well educated individual who deserves to be paid for his services. I paid cash for my procedure with an insurance discount I believe. People, health care services cost money. I am still surprised by how many people will give a bad review simply because a doctor’s office doesn’t want to take their insurance. Do you know how many times doctors get the shaft from your insurance companies? You should be mad at your insurance company for not covering your doctor.
I am currently on day 2 following my procedure. I iced on day 1 and took ibuprofen every 4 – 6 hours. I am in no pain right now and I haven’t taken pain meds for over 12 hours. I did take Valium before the procedure which was prescribed by Dr. Sterzer in case I was having anxiety. Dr. Sterzer does a no scalpel, no needle technique for vasectomies. I traveled from Redding to see him because 5 of my friends have gone to him and had excellent results. I would love to have Dr. Sterzer in Redding. Consider yourself lucky if you live in Chico. I highly recommend this office and will continue to refer men who are looking for a painless procedure when their family is complete. Thank you Dr. Sterzer for making this such an easy experience.

I wanted to do 2 stars but I couldnt.
Doc I am sure is competent but should be retired.
Front office staff is very upset/​abrupt/​annoyed that you are there to be a patient.
Doc didnt explain the chain of events or what he was going to be doing to my very private parts.
I got phone called with results but was unclear what those results were.
i called back and got a machine and left message with service that i wanted results mailed.
I got a return message from staff saying…“thats not how it works“
oh-​and it was not cheap.
and no payment plans offered at all unlike EVERY other doctor I have ever went to.
