The receptionist answered the phone(Ashley) and was very nice. However they are not accepting new patients and would not recommend me any other primary care providers in Chico.

First let me say the Breanne’s review to be found below seems to be in reference to an entirely different(female) physician and not Dr. Alonso. My husband and I are both in our 60’s and I come with a ‘history’. It’s always a concern to make a change in living locations to an area where you are completely unfamiliar with the medical community. We were so very fortunate to find Dr. Alonso. As a nurse of many years, I feel I have the experience to evaluate his care with regards to his obvious knowledge base and his ability to listen, evaluate my past medical information, come up with a plan of action where I am a respected participant, and provide continued care with continuity and confidence. He is kind, listens attentively and communicates in a most caring way. Explains his recommended actions clearly. His office staff in both is recent past location and in his new location were and are friendly, helpful and facilitate resolution of our needs when called. We would heartily recommend him as a Primary Care Provider.

If I could give no stars, I would. Dr. Paul was my second attempt to find a doctor in Chico to take over care for a chronic medical condition I have had now for six years. I saw her three times and each time my treatment was more abysmal than the last. She told me on more than one occasion that the symptoms I was experiencing were from my IC and not an infection. and then I ended up in an urgent care with a kidney infection as she did not take the time to do a simple urinalysis. She was overly eager to put me on all types of medication and schedule numerous follow up visits that were unnecessary. On my last visit she did not even respond or look at me when entering the room after I said hello. Then she asked me how my new medication ***** was working out; a medication I have been on for six years and was by no means ‘new.’ Then when asking about another medication I was not even taking, she responded, «That’s right, because you have asthma” – which I do not. Unfortunately for me, I have a chronic condition that I’m on medication for life, so I continued to keep her on as my doctor… or so I thought. When I went to fill a medication I had refills on, I was told she would not allow a lower dosage to be given(the higher dosage was no longer being made) because I was no longer her patient. Despite calling her office numerous times, she will not approve the medication or allow me to be seen at her office… so now I’m without mediation vital to maintain my health and without another doctor. I have never been treated so badly and so unethically by a doctor and I am filing a formal complaint against their office. Please, make an appointment if you want to see a doctor who only wants your money without having to remember your name or look at your chart for your medications/health status.

don’t know what«Sparky» is talking about. I took over care of my 80 year old mother, and fired her negative doctor(who said things like Eula, you’re 80 years old. How long do you think you should live?”) to this new Dr. Alonso. He treated my mom with respect, looked her in the eye and asked her questions instead of directing those questions to me as if she wasn’t in the room. He ordered many tests and addressed each of her issues. She turned around 100% under her care, and I was so impressed with his bedside manner and the efficient staff, I also signed up as a patient. I can’t say enough how happy I am to have found him. If you aren’t getting satisfaction from your doctor, fire them and find someone great like Dr. Alonso.

As a 50+ year old patient, I found this doctor to NOT be thorough of my medical issues, was sloppy in his care, and essentially felt he could care LESS about my medical problems. His office staff was generally unfriendly, and did not return phone calls to this patient. Simply put, look for someone else.
