This cute little bakery in the Suncook Valley is located next to Blue Seal along NH Route 28 in Chichester, less than a mile south of the Pittsfield TL. Driving past this bakery during the daytime on a typical weekday, the bakery actually being«open» can be hit or miss with my schedule. Sometimes they’re open, and many times the place is closed(the Country Store down the road is my other choice for sweets). When the bakery is indeed open(look for the flag outside), I will stop in here to satisfy my sweet tooth and to grab a cup of coffee. Route 28 Bakery & Dairy Bar being located in a rural location, offers a small selection of individual baked items on hand(wrapped in saran wrap to retain freshness) including fruit bars, cookies, big brownies, cinnamon twist, apple cake bars, cinnamon rolls, cheese danishes, scones, big cupcakes, and muffins. Cakes, wedding cakes, and pies by special order are offered and there’s also have a chocolates and fudge counter too. Brewed Green Mountain Coffee(self serve carafes) is also offered. I’ve had several of their baked goods including the blueberry & white chocolate raspberry scones(very sweet/cake texture/not crumbly), big soft chocolate brownie, frosted yellow cupcake(sponge texture/sweet light frosting with sprinkles), and my favorite apple cake bar(baked with cinnamon and real apples) which goes very well with my hot coffee. The prices here are very good, many individual baked goods prices under $ 2. The individual baked goods are taxable(9 percent) for 1 – 5 items, and no tax is added if you buy 6 items or more per RSA78-A:3 X(b). Also, I’ve received free coffee with my bakery order, a sweet deal! The service is friendly and prompt. During April-December, the dairy bar is open featuring Shain’s of Maine Ice Cream.
