Walgreens had friendly staff at the cash registers tonight, young girls. 4 stars because there was no on floor associates to be found. I’m sick and barely made it out of bed, runny nose and needed to find something ASAP. No one was around for me to ask questions or directions. The friendliness of the girls made me smile on my way in and on my way out.

Just your basic neighborhood Walgreens, not one of the fancy-schmancy new-age ones complete with sushi. I stop in here a few times a year while staying with in-laws in the neighborhood. Everything’s clean; staff seem polite and competent; stock is well-organized and easy to find. I have no personal experience with their prescription operation, which I note has drawn a couple of negative comments from other Unilocalers. Ventra passes can be bought or reloaded at the photo counter. Plenty of parking; also on the Irving Park bus line. In short, it’s not Neiman-Marcus, but it lives up to any reasonable expectations for a Walgreens.

I do not have a big problem with this Walgreens store in general, everything is totally fine with it. My issue is with the photo department. I have developed film with Walgreens, in a rush, and the last two times they used the wrong film processing, causing my film reel to be over exposed and pretty much wiped out. I thought Walgreens used to send out black and white film for c41 processing but they may not do that anymore. I just wish they told me!

This review is for one of the mgrs who worked tonight. The cashier and security guard were very nice. There was an issue when we were being rung up with the balance reward thingy and she had to call over the mgr on duty to help. He came over, was rude, talked to the cashier and myself as if we were complete idiots, and then did not resolve the problem or offer any solution. At other stores, when issues have arisen during check out, I have been told to go to another counter and the mgr has voided the transaction so we can resolve the problem. He simply said oh, it isn’t working, sorry. And walked away. Leaving the cashier to individually void the items so I could purchase one thing(a tea I desperately needed). Which took a few minutes. Mind you, at 2:15 am there wasn’t a line, but seriously? If I had more of a temper, you abandoned your employee/coworker at my mercy and fled the scene. I believe his name was Carl? In any case… He gets negative one and a half stars. But the store was clean and well stocked, and the other people there were nice, so it gets two stars overall.

Take it from me, do not fill your prescriptions here. They have filled my prescription with the wrong medication twice! My refill order clearly states the medication and preferred pharmaceutical company. How they continue to overlook this is beyond me.

24 hours, always clean, staff always friendly. Everything you need in one place. Parking lot is usually easy to park in. They have a drive through pharmacy and two red boxes out front. I order my meds and they are ready within 20 min. Considering its only a few blocks from my house, its very convenient. Wish they sold alcohol it would get that 5th star outta me!

The cashiers are quite rude. They are almost always talking to each other or on the store phone while ringing me up. I work in customer service, yes it may suck, but I expect to be acknowledged just a little bit more…

I guess this Walgreen’s is not a frequent Unilocaler stop. Every other Friday, we take a group of seniors shopping here. Most are ambulatory with walkers, and few are in wheelchairs. Now I’ve been in many a Walgreens in my day, but this one has the most helpful people working there I’ve ever encountered. Specifically, they are extra patient with the seniors, even when they have expired coupons, or when they insist that they purchased something before at that store when it’s something they don’t carry. They are just nice people.(I’ll refrain from commenting on the behaviors, patience or kindness of the other standard-issue Chicago customers-you live here;you can figure that out!) I’ve started shopping at this store, too, even when I’m not with my older friends. And it’s just as enjoyable. It’s not the closest to my place, but it’s worth the extra dose of friendliness and assistance you get there. Has to be as good for your health as pharmaceuticals are. Here, they’ve got your prescription for common-sense good customer service.
