It’s extremely slow but maybe it’s due to national holiday. The food is at most mediocre… The service is not bad though, very tentative and warm… but the kitchen is… ewwww!

Service was slow, it is stifling hot inside with no air conditioning. The coffee creamer was sour and spoiled my coffee and they brought me the wrong order and then took another half hour to bring mine. There are much better places to go

I ordered Chicken and waffles the chicken was micro and waffles was micro sized and the chicken was burnt. The salad was rotten. Don’t do it. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich and her chicken was also burnt and micro sized. They didn’t even serve our food together. My boyfriend had to wait at least 15 minutes after I got my food before his food came out. Complete disappointment and waste of time.

I’ve visited this restaurant multiple times during several trips to Chicago. I love the variety of breakfast options on their menu and their portions are excellent! Despite their namesake, they don’t just offer typical waffles… They have many unique sweet and savory concoctions! I normally stick with the plain and simple: scrambled eggs, toast, turkey sausage, and a hashbrown potato waffle. They coffee is soooo good too! The staff is always friendly, and even though the interior is a bit small, I’ve never had to wait for a table. Also, their prices are really good(for Chicago, haha). Be sure to get a wonut to-go(since you will probably be too full from your breakfast)! I really like the red velvet!

My order/s: bacon & chicken waffle(to die for), green tea wonut Pros + Food: the main reason that this establishment get 5 stars. I absolutely loved the bacon and chicken waffle with its accompanying spicy maple syrup sauce. Seeing how this is the first time I had chicken and waffles, this restaurant has set the bar pretty high for future chicken and waffle tastings. The walnuts were pretty small for the price but that’s a given with any big city. Cons — Service?: I don’t really know if I should fault the establishment for negative service, not to say that this is specifically pertaining to customer service. I arrived on a Sunday and came one or two hours prior to closing. Turns out the owner had sent his staff home because it was a slower day. This was particularly disappointing for me as a tourist because I had to go home and try to come another day which isn’t always possible. Get a better grasp on social media please! Had I known, I wouldn’t have wasted my time coming down

Don’t do it!!! I waited 45 mins just for an omelette that had an old hard piece of cheese on it with only one other customer in the place. The kitchen just looks totally lost. Service was nice to me. Food terrible and waffles not all that. Wish I could get my time and money back.

I used to love this place. We’d come about every other month or so and do a girls brunch, and it was always good. The service could be a bit slow at times, but nothing too bad. After not going in a few months, we went yesterday, and it was disappointing on so many levels. I wonder if they’re under new management or something, because the inside had changed(took away some tables, new paint, etc.) and the menu was different. And boy, these changes were not for the better. Our waitress spoke very softly, it was hard to hear what she was saying plus she had a bit of an accent(nothing wrong with an accent, but when it’s paired with being soft-spoken it’s hard to understand and communicate). She was slow-slow to seat us(it wasn’t busy), slow to take our drink orders, slow to take our food orders, and then didn’t bring silverware until I we had already gotten our food(I had to ask for it). Also, the food was brought out as it was ready-my friend got her oatmeal, was almost finished with it when I got my waffles, then about five minutes after that my other friend got her waffles Benedict. THEN I got my side of bacon and my first friend got her eggs. It was very scattered, and it was awkward because of course we each wanted to eat our food while it was hot, but also felt bad about eating when the others didn’t have food to eat. I’ve never been to a place that brings food out like that. On to the food-with the change in menu, it seems they took away the greek yogurt with berries, which is something my friend usually orders, so that was a bummer(but they still have greek yogurt, as they use it in another dish, so I don’t know why they don’t still offer it? My friend ordered the oatmeal with blueberries, and it looked like the instant oatmeal I make at home. It wasn’t very appetizing, it had already kind of congealed, and there were maybe two blueberries in it. I ordered the Mexican Chocolate waffles, as I’ve had them before, but they clearly changed the recipe. The waffles used to be chocolate waffles, but now they’re just regular waffles with some chocolate sprinkled on top. And the chocolate was kind of grainy, so it didn’t have a good texture. The waffles themselves were dense, not fluffy how I like them(and have had them here before), and kind of chewy and dry. I even put syrup on them and it didn’t help. My friend ordered the Waffles Benedict, and when she ordered the waitress told her it would come with ham instead of the pork shoulder as advertised. My friend was a bit disappointed, but still ordered it. When the dish came out it had pork shoulder on it-what? It also had regular waffles, not the cornbread waffles as advertised. She said it tasted okay, nothing special. And my other friends eggs over-easy were under-cooked(kind of funny, as my bacon was way overcooked). Overall, pretty much everything about the meal was disappointing. They’re still BYOB, which is I guess the one upside as we always do mimosas when we’re they’re, but everything else was pretty bad. I think perhaps we’ll be looking for a new place to do girls brunch from now on. Side note: it looked like they had a big order they were working on(their menu advertises catering), as they kept filling up boxes with wonuts(I believe). However, not an excuse for poor/slow service. Also, there were two random guys that came in(separately), and then just kind of stood inside by the door. Random, and a little weird.

Success! My fave was the P! Nk RASPBERRY, the Mexican Chocolate was not bad either but the chocolate is just on top. Those candied dried orange peeled(besides fancy) were so tasty!

Savory red velvet waffle? We were served salty red velvet and liege waffles — the cook must’ve switched out the sugar with salt. What’s more is that the waitress who took the order didn’t know what savory meant and tried to convince us that liege waffles are supposed to be served«savory». We ended up leaving most of our waffle flight($ 17). Disgusting experience!

This place was very quaint and cute. I didn’t feel like I was in Chicago when I came here. Has a small town feel to it. As soon as me and my boyfriend walked in the door we were greeted and told we could sit where we please. The table was a chalkboard which was a cool touch. The server was very sweet, I wish I could remember her name! The food was wonderful and the waffles were exceptional! Also, I loved how they made the hasbrown into a waffle shape. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars and not 5 is because they are advertised as «home of the wonuts» but when we went to order one they advised us they were out. About 10 minutes before our food came out the server did come up to us and gave us a raspberry one to share(which was SO good). All and all this place was very good! I would highly recommend!

They are a little understaffed and unorganized, they need to pay more people to run this place as it is in a busy section of town. The food is off on its execution. The waffles have a nice flavor and texture. I would say they are better than some places that have just plain waffles. I got the waffle ham and cheese sandwich that could have been great, but it was done wrong. They used ham chunks rather than a slice of ham, cheese sauce covered all of the items l. So it comes like you ordered them separately with drizzled sauce vs a sandwich or a Benedict. A nice concept but not done right. The hot sauce here is the real star. That stuff is amazing. Didn’t get to try any of the sweet stuff. If I went back I would just grab and go.

This place needs more servers. It’s slow service and they don’t always have the flavors of wonuts you wanted. Plus they need a double door since whenever someone enters or exits, a huge gush of wind blows in and makes it cold; try not to sit near the doors. Not even a warm experience. Nevertheless, the delicious wonuts make up for the bad experience. My fav so far is the cinnamon sugar which reminds me of the taste of a churro.

Cute little café that serves wonuts! Which is essentially a waffle donut. It was my first time getting it and I chose the Mexican chocolate wonut. It has a hint of orange in it and the whole thing is covered in chocolate. I’m not a huge sweets or desserts person but I enjoyed it. Worth trying if you’re in the area and want to try something new

randomly picked a breakfast place because it was so close to the hotel we were staying at(Red Roof Inn). — eggs & chorizo — this came with like scrambled eggs with chorizo, bell peppers, potatoes, and some other stuff. it was pretty good. it came with some tortillas and a small side of guac and sour cream. I wish they gave more of both. this entrée was good. — plain & simple — basically just 2 eggs, waffle shaped hash browns, and sausages. everything was good besides the waffled shaped hash browns. they tasted weird. add another $ 2 for 2 mini waffles. these were good — lemon raspberry wonut — this was very good. didn’t taste the lemon though

We came here while on conference in Chicago. We wanted a brunch spot that had good breakfast items and this place totally delivered. From the egg plates and waffle shaped hash browns their foods were off the hook. We had several types of waffles from the liege, to the chicken and waffle and a couple wonuts. Every item was delicious and we left full and loving the items we tried. We will be back!

I couldn’t figure out a quick and close breakfast location nearby since I was short on time. Waffle Café came up and even though there wasn’t many starts on Unilocal,I suggested we go too. Upon arrival and after we sat down, my sis was a bit skeptical after seeing just a 3.5 start rating. Alex took care of us and was just the sweetest and most patient person ever! We decided on something savory and something sweet. For savory we decided on: EGGS&CHORIZO — $ 10.95 Potatoes, Onions, Red Bell Peppers, served with Corn Tortillas, Guacamole an Sour Cream. When this dish came out, the meal was split in two! How wonderful! This plate was very good! So for sweet here’s what happened: At first we decided on the Waffle Flight, but realized there were wonuts(waffle donuts) which sounded cheaper as yimmier. So we asked Alex to cancel our Waffle Flight and wanted wonuts instead. Alex had to run into the kitchen to make sure the cooks didn’t start yet and he has to see what wonuts are available since not everything on the menu may be there. We took some time to decide and chose 2. When Alex brought out our beautiful plate of 3 donuts, he had mistakenly given us Cinnamon & Sugar also. We told him we didn’t order it, but perhaps we can trade for something else. Alex: «Alrighty, what would you like» :) Us: «Ummm…hmmmm…» Yeah we were jerks. Alex immediately decided to let us have it for free. We then made our decision and here were the WONUTS: LEMONBLUEBERRYWONUT — $ 2.50 The batter had blueberries and was topped with fresh blueberries and lemon zest! The blueberry frosting was plentiful and was served warm! My favorite! Yummy! WHITEGANACHEWONUT — $ 2.50 This warm donut was topped with white chocolate and bash pearls. So lovely and quite tasty! PINKRASPBERRYWONUT — $ 2.50 Another warm donut that had a bright pink frosting and reap every on top! Sweet! CINNAMON&SUGARWONUT — $ 2.50 This was actually a gluten-free one which no wonder tasted a bit different(not as good as the rest). It was fine but I would have never known it to be gluten-free. Oh and with all these sweets I had to order a glass of MILK — $ 2.50. Alex came and chatted with us and he was just so friendly and nice! Turns out Alex is the owner! We really appreciated everything and his service! He took really great care of us! Gosh I wish I can come back!!! :) THANKSALEX!!!

I deducted a star for the bathroom… Seriously smelled so bad I almost threw up my waffles… The waffles however were divine! Really liked the red velvet.

Came for the wonuts and should have left after getting them. Unfortunately, also tried the Eggs Benedict Waffle dish and I immediately had a stomach ache after. This was the first dish I ate that morning so it can’t be from anything else. Even the orange juice that is supposedly fresh squeezed using this cute gimmicky whirling machine was meh. Weirdly way too sweet. I only recommend this place for wonuts. I had raspberry and green tea. Green tea was amazingly yummy and raspberry was good but not as tasty. Service here is okay, not great. Plenty of time I have been ignored because server walking around was not serving my section. My server was no where to be found, had to ask people to call for them. Note* they do provide free wifi. Only 1 washroom for girls and 1 for boys. Must get a key for it too.

I LOVEWAFFLES. It is important to know that beforehand. I was drawn to this restaurant because a friend told me about their wonuts. We did end up trying a few wonuts, which were a lot of fun(unfortunately, they usually only stock a few kinds at a time, and it varies throughout the day, so the wonut menu is useful just in the descriptions of the wonuts). There were no holes in the center of the wonuts either. Basically, the taste/texture was denser than a donut, kind of cake-like, but with the shape of a waffle. In addition to the wonuts, we also ate brunch here and enjoyed some sweet and savory waffles dishes. We had the flight of donuts, which was fun, plus a pork/shoulder + cheddar waffle dish and an eggs benedict dish. I loved the novelty of all the waffle dishes, because most other restaurants I’ve been to don’t offer so many savory waffle dishes. Service was average. They seem to be pretty busy. They did take a photo of our group for us when we asked. The restaurant itself is also very simple in décor, although there is one wall that features various waffle irons of the past. Prices average. Overall, a solid restaurant for the waffle-lover, but nothing spectacular.

Home of the infamous wonut, which I first saw on buzzfeed, and almost jumped a flight from the Jerz to Chi-town for, I made a special trip to the city to try this delicacy last weekend. It was just okay. It made me glad I didn’t spend $ 200 on a flight to Chi-town to try a wonut. Perhaps I tried the wrong wonut? I had the white ganache wonut and it was just off. It is hard to describe; it was very sticky, like a cinnabon. But the wonut itself was good; the ganache ruined it for me though. I had two bites and it met the trash can. I would go back to try the Mexican Chocolate or the Cinnamon Sugar. the food was not up to par. I was hungry after wandering around the city. I am new — i need to get acclimated to the hood. Sure, I live in the burbs but I play in the city. AND I NEEEEEEEDED A WONUT. I didn’t eat waffles because that would have defeated the purpose of a wonut later. I had an omelet. It was kind of rubbery and dripping in oil. I can definitely say I have had better — heck – I have even cooked better and I can barely use a stove. What intrigued me was the has brown shaped like a waffle. It tasted like a potato latke and was the star of my breakfast. I was in love. Eat the hash-waffle. Skip the eggs. This is a meh and a half resto. I am rounding up because the wonut has potential for success.
