«Vienna Beef Factory Store and Deli» has been on my bookmark for over a year. Since I’m hosting a BBQ at our residence this Sunday, I should stop procrastinating and start getting the food together. I guess one of the reasons why I didn’t pay a visit sooner was due to the endless construction on the intersection of Fullerton, Elston, and Damen, where Vienna is at. I swore that I didn’t have beef with her, but she wanted many of us to have a share of it. I thought of getting lunch over there since I could use a pastrami sandwich, but I needed to run my errand first. The retail portion of the store is located by the entrance. Souvenir t-shirts and their famous Vienna Beef posters are also for sale. Pragmatic Rosa J. normally paid attention on prices to determine if the deals were good enough, yet she didn’t really do so this time. I grabbed three(3) packs of smoked polish, two(2) packs of jumbo beef dogs, one(1) pack of hotdog buns with sesame seeds(each pack contains 10 pieces), one(1) jar of hot giardiniera, and ½ lb. of pastrami. I was afraid that the pastrami wouldn’t make it home before I consumed it all(ultra, ultra delicious). Well, it did make it… I really had to exercise great self-control or put a safe inside our refrigerator so I wouldn’t have an easy access. You can customize the thickness of the pastrami. The lady accidentally asked me in Spanish if I was satisfied with how thin/thick she cut, I replied back«si, el tamano esta bien.» I don’t know«thickness» in Spanish. My total was $ 36.25. I never purchased Vienna Beef products at any supermarket in town, but I thought the prices were quite alright. I almost wanted to deduct a star on their café/retail hours(Mondays-Fridays: 8am to 3pm; Saturdays: 10am-3pm). Frankly, I just have to get back my habit of waking up early and treat myself some pastrami.

Best Pastrami in the world!!! :) I love this place, usually buy the vienna beef pastrami and it’s absolutely divine. Since I’ve tried it here, I’ve bought Vienna beef pastrami from other delis and even Jewel osco and meijer and none of their pastrami tastes like the one from the Vienna beef factory store! Mad love for this place

Fun place to visit but the food isn’t that great. Atmosphere is old school, and that is the main draw for me at least. I’ve eaten here a few times over the years, and it never really leaves me satisfied. The corned beef and pastrami sandwiches are fairly skimpy. I think they weigh out 6 oz. of meat or have them pre-portioned. Manny’s it ain’t. Hot dogs are decent, but again i’d rather get a char dog from a classic hot dog stand. The deli counter sometimes has sales, and they sell quality products for sure. I guess i’ll be sad to see them go, since they’re moving to a different facility in a year or so.

Vienna beef factory is a great lunch time spot. Can’t complain best hot dogs around and great service. As a Chicagoan who’s transplanted to the burbs, I try and stop any time I’m in the area around lunch. Don’t expect fancy décor here but is always pretty clean. Don’t forget to pick up a case for a Bbq on the way out.

I can’t speak more highly of the crew at this Vienna Beef location. Jan Wix & crew(looking at you, Marissa & Denise!) are EXCELLENT at their job and pay incredible attention to detail, all while serving us fair Chicagoan’s the most succulent cuts of meat. They are thoughtful, professional, and speedily attend to any and all catering requests & needs. I would have been completely lost attempting to coordinate my event save for the assistance of these lovely ladies. Whether you’re catering a large-scale event or simply in the mood for a ‘She-caw-go’-style hot dog(hold the ketchup), this location is your best bet. Oh, and the food is pretty damn good too!

Great place to bring unpretentious guests you have in town. Think old school cafeteria serving encased meat products and french fries and you pretty much get the picture. What’s cool about this store and café is it’s a bit of Chicago history for cheap. They have cases of their products you can buy and a deli counter too. Dogs and polish sausages come steamed but they will grill them upon request. They even have a mural showing the proper was to construct a Chicago style dog. Kids will love it here, your uncle will love it here, hell I bet your Grandma will love this place too! Closed on Sundays and only open til 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday so plan on going somewhere else for dinner. Great place to go to at least once I say.

The best hot dogs in the city. Ingredients are always fresh and the two hot dog combo for $ 7.50 is the best deal in the city. I wish their hours were more flexible.

Affordable and spacious… this place has very fresh food and ingredients. I got the Italian Beef which was good but it was a little to soggy since it’s packed with filling so you’ll need to use a fork and life to eat it.

Vienna hot dogs where they are born. Can life get any better than this? Please don’t come here looking for some fancy décor, because it isn’t here. Come here for the hot dogs silly! Also, they sell bulk dogs and Italian beef for parties. Yay!

Let me start this review by saying that I’m a natural born Chicagoan but I’ve never eaten here before today and I’m 28 years old. The décor here is outdated. Think school cafeteria with vending machines and added nostalgic portraits amongst the walls. The place probably gets cleaned once maybe twice a day… It’s early and looks mostly clean with the exception of a couple tables that could be wiped down from people just leaving. It’s not too busy in here at 11am on a Wednesday… Food was prepared and served in less than 5 minutes. I opted to dine in. Most patrons here likely work in the area and are stopping by for lunch. The food: I only had a Chicago style hot dog meal, no tomatoes… cheese for the fries and a Coke. Pretty standard in taste if you’ve had Vienna beef anywhere else… No big wow for the chef. It was good, but Vienna beef is really better than any other hot dog I’ve had… I’m really not sure how other hot dog companies stay in business. I say buy unprepared Vienna beef to go and have a Bbq. But if you’re in the area and just want a hot dog this isn’t a bad choice. My rating is an average of the following things that matter to me as a patron in this establishment. Cleanliness: *** The Greet: *** Food: ***** Prompt service: ***** Décor: * 3.4 stars

Great cafeteria atmosphere! Each time I come I get the hotdog special. Great value. Large room. Workers are courteous and gracious. Drop in and enjoy.

This sausage factory is no dog! You eat in a plant cafeteria setting but the food is fresh and the prices are great. Like your lunch, grab all the supplies at the store out front and make your own. It’s a Chicago landmark in dogland so drop by and get one with everything.

Order at the Cafeteria! If it’s nice out, eat outside! This is Original Chicago Dog flavor. Try the new Dikta Sausage. They also have Curly fries, Maxwell Street Polish, Chicago Style Dogs, Patty Melts! The list is huge. Enjoy!

Aw snap! The tour led us here for our tasty hot dog lunch. After a magical tour of this elite meat factory that rivaled Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory(though, to my dismay, there was no hot dog flavored wallpaper), we were granted coupons for a hot dog, fries, and a drink. The boys(Tony H. and the wonder BF) got jumbo dogs and I had a normal dog. Obviously, it was hot dog perfection in a little basket. Red cream soda called my name from the soda fountain and the crinkle-cut fries were hot, crisp and delish. It was nice to see the entire factory join us for lunch around noon, including our tour guide(the president’s son), the president and CEO of Vienna Beef. The manager of the factory chatted with us and what we got out of the conversation? The people behind the hot dogs are just as amazing as the dogs, themselves. It’s definitely a family affair over there and I wouldn’t have hoped for anything more. The store and deli offer all of your favorite Vienna Beef treats, plus a few that you didn’t even know they made(like the giardinara from Potbelly or the zesty pickle chips from Panera). Frozen and fresh, they’ve got it all. So take a gander over there before they change their address this summer!

Chicago must! Everything and more of what I expected! I ordered the foot long with crinkly fries and a drink. Seriously great dog. The restaurant also seams to be the workers cafeteria. It is nice seeing them.

We came here before stopping at Costco for groceries. There’s plenty of space for parking and seats inside. The hot dogs had that nice snap when you bite into them. However, there was something hard inside my spicy hot dog. I couldn’t quite figure out what it was, but I was hesitant to finish the rest of it. But at least everything was made fresh and to order? Friendly service as well.

The price is right, the service is smooth and your getting the Chicago comfort foods you get from your local grease shack. Only been here one, got the spicy Ditka Polish, though I detected no kick so I can’t give this place the perfect score. Gonna be back to get THE Chicago dog and, if I have enough space for it, a corned beef or pastrami sandwich. Likewise with the other reviews, I vouch for the surprisingly decent fries, and I was pretty happy to see red crème soda as a fountain drink option. I’m leaving stuffed and wanting to come back. Cheers.

This place looks where more unassuming from the outside than it actually is. Its a real«hidden» gem. The building is big but looks like a factory — as it should. But the factory store has a small and innocuous sign. You get inside and its a much cooler looking place and actually somewhat sizable. To top it off the dogs are fresh, delicious, served hot, and reasonably priced. If you just love the hell out of vienna beef hot dogs you can also get Vienna Beef merch some of which are quite entertaining.

You’ve tried the rest, now try the ORIGINAL… Here’s where all the Vienna cased meats you’ve been eating from your favorite hot dog joints come from. Get the 2 dog special w/fires and drink for $ 7 and change. Then stop by the store and bring something authentic home for the wife and kids. I bought a case of 8’s(that’s 10 lbs of the most popular dogs in natural casing) from Denise. She gave me the Labor Day discount 1 week early since I came all the way from Tinley Park. So cooool and friendly here!

I love this place. This is the cafeteria for the employees of Vienna Beef so don’t expect a hot Doug’s experience. This place was making hot dogs when hot dog was a yuppie dream baby! They double up so your hot dog will have two dogs per bun. A real Chicago hot dog, and an authentic Chicago experience that does not follow the fads, and ups and downs of gentrification. Top place.

Vienna Beef makes really good hot dogs and the café puts out a good Chicago dog. The café offers other items such as deli sandwiches, burgers and fries. We only ordered hot dogs. I’ve driven by this place so many times but they were never open. The service is on the slow side and the hours are really restrictive. You can also purchase their products to take home. It’s worth a stop if you are in the area around lunch time.
