THIS is comedy! Wow! Coming from someone who has a very little sense of humor, borderline non-existent, I laughed for a good hour and a half straight. The comedians of the night were Chris Redd and Megan Gailey. They both were hysterical! My best friend and I got the tickets the night before. They were only $ 20. No service fee at all, just tax. Because we got there early, we were seated at the very front of the stage! WARNING: if you sit at the front of the stage, be prepared to get singled out, or picked on, or asked to come on stage to participate in a joke. It was awesome! The jokes were very controversial and brassy, but it is good to just kick back and laugh at life. The complimentary coat check was an amazing perk! Especially in during the winter! The wait staff here were awesome. They came before and during the show to refill our drinks and stuff. Being that we were on the first row, it was kinda awkward to turn around and ask for more drink without feeling disruptive of the comedian, but at any rate… I am too hyped for the next time I go to UP!

Great venue! I saw Dave Attell here which was amazing, of course. The theatre felt intimate and while we were seated only a couple rows from the stage, it looks like there isn’t a bad seat in the house. We had a few drinks and some nachos; standard stuff. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Street parking was surprisingly easy. I’ll be back for sure.

Nice venue. Wish the mainstage was housed there. Show was good but not up to the quality of the other two Chicago venues.

Was a little worried when we walked in and the comics were talking about what kind of performance it would be(not a fan of musicals) but was pleasantly surprised! this place was very fun and the wait staff was also great. Wish the show was longer!

I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to New Years Eve plans. During a quick Google search, I came across Up Comedy Club and thought that the $ 100 libations package would be worth the money, simply because it included a 2 hour show, with unlimited hors-d’oeuvres, and drinks till midnight. Outside of the show itself, which was quite entertaining, I was disappointed simply because it felt like the old bait and switch. The doors opened at 9:15pm for a 10pm show, and we were seated by 9:45pm. Soon after we were seated we discovered that the ‘Unlimited’ food was finished before the show even commenced, and we were pretty famished. Also, for some reason, there were only two waitstaff that seemed to be servicing the entire venue of more than 200 people. I am giving Up Comedy Club a 2-star rating because although the performances themselves were up to par, the package that was promised was not delivered. Hopefully In the future, your comedy club is setting the right expectation for your patrons! Very disappointed!

Went to see the Christmas show Holidazed and Confused on 12⁄27. All three in my group found it bland and boring. The show was full of liberal and racist undertones. This is Chicago, I get it, it’s just tiring to tolerate for 3 hours. I understand comedy is edgy, this was an agenda. I looked around and saw a lot of uncomfortable upper class white folks during some of the social equality bits. The drinks were expensive, desserts were very small and the seats are packed in! Escalators were broke, bathrooms had LONG lines. The service was very slow as well. I wouldn’t go back for their in house acts. Maybe for a national act. It was basically 3 hours of high school quality skits.

Hahahaha! I’m laughing just thinking about UP Comedy Club, my experience here was so funny! I saw Second City’s Holidazed and Confused show, which was hilarious and full of talented performers of improv and sketch comedy. By the time we got the tickets(a few weeks before a Saturday evening show), the general admission seats weren’t available, so we went ahead and paid $ 10 extra for the premium seats. It turns out this would’ve been worth it anyway, because they were the best seats in the house! We were right in the center of the room, slightly elevated with a great view of the show, and had our own table. And my step-mom is super relieved we weren’t in a good spot for them to pick us for audience interaction(though I think that could’ve been fun!). They take orders and serve about 15 – 20 minutes before the start time, and you can get food or a variety of beverages to consume during the show. I couldn’t believe our server; she had a whole rows’ worth of drink orders memorized and correct! I ordered a glass of wine, and ended up taking the whole show to drink it, because I felt like I was laughing basically the entire time and was worried about spitting out my drink. They’re probably used to that, though.

First time there. Went to the Imrov All-Stars show; it was okay. I think it’s usually a hit or miss with improv because of the audience you’re with. I was with an older crowd and didn’t understand all of the references they threw out to the actors, so it wasn’t that funny. Might try it again for another show. However, all staff was helpful and accommodating and the atmosphere was great

Our first comedy club in Chicago and we were definitely entertained that night. We watched #DateMe An OKCupid Experiment, which I guess most people can related to whether they’ve done online dating or not. Most of the skits were pretty funny and the acting was really good. It really cracked me up when they had audience participation though. Overall, it was good entertainment for the night, there was no drink minimum, but the venue was super cold(and I’m only complaining because it was super cold outside), and all the seats are uncomfortably close to each other. Get ready to know your neighbor really well. There was also a photo area as well for this particular show which was cool. Seats are the earlier you arrive, the closer to the stage you’ll be. We literally got front row center which was pretty much right up against the stage.

I’d never been to UP before and my friend and I decided to check it out for the #DateMe: An OKCupid Experiment show. Such an incredible time and I would love to go again! The staff upon entry was helpful, funny, and set the tone for what was to come. They pointed us in the right direction(it can be a little confusing walking in and figuring out which area your show was) and explained the process of entry. Once we got to the door, we noticed a photo booth area set up with funny signs, hats, etc that we could take our picture with – for this girl who works in marketing, BRILLIANT. Of course, my friend and I took some great pics and posted them on Instagram right away. As for the show, this group of comedians was brilliant. The show was incredibly creative and relatable(I mean, online dating in and of itself is hysterical, but these people made it epic). I got«picked on» for a little improv segment that had us roaring with laughter. Who knew that almost two hours could go by so quickly – they were THAT good.

Overall a fun experience and with tix from HotTix it was a great value. Started off slow and some skits were painfully dull, but overall a fun time.

What a great night! I’ve been wanting to experience Second City for years. I’m glad I did. The Improv All Stars were so funny and timely and creative. Great show!

We had a great time here! The admissions staff was friendly and accommodating when my husband got stuck in a bathroom line right before the show started. The food and drinks were good and the wait staff was attentive. We weren’t in the front, or in the center, but still had a great view and felt involved in the show. The show we saw, #DateMe, was great. It was different than other comedy shows I’ve seen. It wasn’t stand up, wasn’t improv, and wasn’t all slapstick either. It was actually pretty serious in parts. I wasn’t expecting that, but it was definitely entertaining and you could see how well rounded the talents of the comedians are. I would recommend it. The theatre is located within/beside second city. I was excited when I realized that I was in THE comedy club of Chicago. Definitely check it out!

Always a good time here! Recently went to their Sunday bottomless mimosa and Bloody Mary brunch buffet + improv show. Food was really good– way exceeded my expectations! Favorite was the shrimp and grits, rivaled Nola! Mimosas were made well but the bloody Mary’s were so strong I couldn’t drink it(awesome if ur looking to get a good buzz though!). The improv was interactive and made me laugh the whole way through. Great job! Will be back again!

This place does not disappoint. it was packed on a Monday at 8pm for the All stars shows. It was a good show, despite being only 50 – 55 min oddly. I thought it would be longer. No drink minimum is a big plus.

Came here to watch the Second City Incomplete Guide to Everything last year(guilty of having it bookmarked and forgetting to review it, but I did not forget how great of an experience it was!) A friend and I shared the bucket of beers, which was $ 23 in 2013 and pretty worth it. Service was good and the venue is great. Come early if you want good seats! The shows are definitely worth the price but I would actually advise buying tickets over phone if you can’t show up in person/want to buy tickets ahead of time — at the time it was $ 3 for the transaction vs. if you bought online for $ 6 per transaction.

Billed as an hour show ran about 50 minutes. Check into Unilocal gets you a discount on your seat I saw after ticket purchase. Light fare menu available. Saw Best of Improv show, group did a great job.

I like this place because it’s raw local talent learning the ropes that’s pretty cool. HOWEVER the drinks and food are overpriced and the service is kind of shitty. Also the way you have to share tables with strangers if you even get the luxury of having a table is super awkward. It’s almost impossible to get up and go to the bathroom once everyone’s seated.

My first comedy club in Chicago! I’ve heard that comedy clubs are big in Chicago, so I was very excited to check one out. My bf bought tickets online for Game Night on Wednesday at 8 pm. At $ 24 per ticket plus $ 12 service fee, this was a pretty pricey night out. We got there about a quarter past 7 pm, and it was pretty empty. But I suppose that was a good thing, because we got seated right in the center with a great view of the stage. I would say the venue got to be about half full, which I suppose was normal on a cold Wednesday night. No drink minimum, but I warmed myself up with a Spotlight Mocha(Baileys, Kahlua, and peppermint liqueur in hot chocolate) for $ 9 and later a hot apple cider in a souvenir mug for $ 7. My bf up-sized his beer to a souvenir glass, too, so we both got a little memento to take home with us that night. As for the show itself… well, let’s just say that it was like nothing I’ve ever seen. Rather than stand-up acts, it was a 4-person show with an emcee who reenacted a bunch of old TV shows – such as Family Feud and $ 25,000 Pyramid – and also some games I’ve never heard of – such as Celebrity and Match Game. The twist was that they heavily involved audience participation, which was probably really exciting for those who went up on stage, but maybe not so much for those of us watching from the audience. There were a couple of crazy moments – such as when they did an audience scavenger hunt and asked for double-jointed people to display their talents on stage. :O But mostly it was just okay and I didn’t split my sides from laughter or anything. The cast was full of energy, probably in an attempt to liven things up… but sometimes I felt that they were just screaming at the top of their lungs and laughing maniacally for no reason. Maybe because I’m from California, I just don’t get Midwest humor. For example, at one point, we were asked to suggest vacation spots, and some people from the audience shouted out«Toledo» and«Green Bay»! What the? Anyway, I would say that it was nice to check this place out once for our date night, but I dunno if we would pay $ 60 again to come back to this show.

I love comedy. I love laughing. And I love Nick Offerman. We came here the other night to see the mustache live and in person. It was a good show, I have no complaints about that. The venue is nice, but I wish the seats were a little more spread out and elevated — it was hard to see at some points, and I can’t tell you how many times a waiter was brushing up against my head to get to another guest. Very tight seating! Luckily, we didn’t want to order food or drinks, because our waitress didn’t realize that she had our table until about 15 minutes before the show ended. She did apologize, however. They will take your orders throughout the show. They have a few drinks/food options. A little pricey, so honestly I would rather go somewhere else beforehand.
