Traditional Thai Bodywork

I’ve gotten massage for several years now but never had a Thai massage until recently. It was by shear luck that I even visited Olly. I couldn’t find a massage appointment anywhere at the last minute but Traditional Thai was able to get me an appointment the day of.
I met Olly as I was suffering from lower back and hip pains. She worked on me for an hour, stepping on the back of my calves and thighs. She even stepped on my inner thighs which is a bit painful but nonetheless I felt a lot of tension release just from that move alone. Already, I’ve visited 3 times and this last time, I felt that my calves has really loosened from my initial appointment. She mentioned my back is really messed up so it’s going to take several more sessions to correct that but every time I visit, I can feel the improvements on my body.
The ambiance is a bit weird since it’s located in the basement. But the actual room itself is very cozy and who cares where you’re at as long as it’s clean and you’re releasing all the tension created from aches and pains. Plan on going as much as I can.

Superb session with Ollie this week. I’m an educated consumer when it comes to Thai bodywork having trained in it but I had yet to receive Thai work from a Thai! Ollie is from Chiangmai and she has a subtle and low key treatment style… not that I actually remember much because I kept dozing off into bliss… but afterwards my relationship with Gravity was much improved and I continue to notice other benefits. Go see Ollie!

Made stop here on my trip to Chicago and absolutely loved this. The ambiance is great and Edita is just amazing. She found all these knots in my legs I didn’t even know I had! The room is lovely and warm, especially with this huge heating pad that sits underneath you. If I ever come back up to Chicago, I’ll definitely come back.

I finally found my go to massage place in Chi town. Thai massage is probably the only type of massage that works for me. The herbal therapy plus traditional Thai message are very soothing and stress-​relieving. The massage therapist knew exactly where my problem spots were.

One of the best massages I’ve ever had hands down and have already scheduled my next appointment. Fell asleep when I got home and slept like a baby. Lower back pain is gone. Had Thai massages before in California and found them to be the most effective and years later am happy to have found a place. Parking outside the complex was plentiful. To find her place you have to have to be buzzed in (114) and then take the elevator on the right to the basement, hang a left, through a door and all the way down on the left. Sounds shady. But I can attest to having spent thousands on massages and not much else has as effectively alleviated stubborn pains. Do yourself a favor and try it out. At $ 60 on Mondays, not much to regret.

I am very hesitant writing this review as the selfish part of me is concerned she’s gonna get too popular and I will never be able to get an appointment from her anymore but I know sharing the goodness is the right thing to do. So here it is —
I have been coming to Edita for about 2 years now. I have very high standard for thai massage as I’ve been getting traditional thai massage for over 10 years all over different countries.
Edita approaches bodies like a yoga style — after one massage from her it’s like doing a yoga session without actually sweating. You’ll feel the soreness the next day (if you don’t work out or get massage often), but after that you will feel like a million bucks! She is also a very caring and considerate person, always bringing positive energy even giving massages. The oils she uses are all natural as I have very sensitive skin and am usually allergic to non-​natural products.
The room is not like a commercial space but warm and cozy. Edita uses this jade heating bed that relax and warm up the body and it feels great.

This is the best thing I ever did to my body! I had several session here already and all therapist know what they are doing. All untimely body discomforts left me little by little — so liberating! The lobby is fancy looking but the the massage room is located in not that fancy basement level. The room itself is very cozy though and smells amazing. I just had my first herbal compress massage with Olly and the scent of herbs itself felt healing on it’s own. Highly recommend this option! Warm big fist size balls full Thai herbs are used for massaging gives just the right pressure and the heat is very relaxing. She left couple of balls just sit under my shoulders and on other more problematic parts, it felt funny but the muscles felt so much softer after that compress! Love the place and the therapists here, can’t wait to return:)

First time I have ever had an authentic Thai massage. I am sure there are several versions. It was intense and a little painful to say the least. But worth it! My legs muscles were extremely tight and in pain. She did a better job than PT any day of the week. I look forward to going back.

If you are looking for a spa where there are amenities and snacks this is not the place.
If you are looking for an intense body work session with a therapist that really knows what she’s doing then Edita is the right person to go to. You can study massage techniques all you want but if you don’t have the «touch» you won’t be great at it. Edita has the touch and truly cares for your well being.

I was in Chicago for work and made time for Thai bodywork … My expectations were for a good session, at best … What I found was truly exceptional ! Edita is devoted to her practice, this is evident when you first meet her. She has a rich bag of skills, a great sense of touch … She reads the body well and can and will adapt the session to address the body’s deeper issues… I had not one but two 90minute sessions, both completely different … I trusted her that much and felt outstanding for it ! I gained some good insights and have a go to practioner in my future ! She’s great !

Went for the first time and was very pleased with the results. Have had Thai massages before and Edita was as god as advertised. I was a little surprised about the basement location but it was clean and warm and worked perfectly.

The quiet, clean and relaxing massage studio is tucked away in the basement of a residential building. Pear performed one of the best authentic Thai massages I have ever had.

I’m almost scared to write this because I don’t want her to be busy next time I come into town but I’m going to do it: First of all, if you have never had a Thai massage, try one. Think of a great deep tissue massage combined with stretching but you just lay there and she stretches you. There is nothing I do that when I am done I feel that my body is in better shape. Secondly, I was in Chicago on business and my back was killing me so I just took a chance and found Edita through Unilocal and called her up and went to her studio. I have had Thai massages all over the world and Edita is just as good if not better than the best practitioners I have had work on me. It was a great surprise to have found her. Her studio is a wonderful atmosphere to get treatment and she has a nice relaxed way about her. I plan to make an appointment every time I am in the city from now on.

AMAZING massage. If you have never had a Thai Massage book one with Edita today. I can never go back to traditional massage now. Edita is a joy to be with and she will work out any issues in your body. Its a treat!

I’ve been lurking on Unilocal for a very long time and haven’t gotten around to writing any reviews. Mostly because I’ve never been moved enough by anything to write one.
Until today.
I just received my first Thai massage (but definitely not my first bodywork) from Edita and am already looking forward to my next session.
Working with Edita was an extremely pleasant experience. She made me feel very at ease and I found myself smiling throughout the massage, both from the feeling of the body work and her shining personality.
Edita seems to have that firm understanding of the human body and how to find and work out the kinks that hide in random places that you weren’t aware of. I left with a lot of energy and a light, loose body.
If you are considering a massage from her, just call and make the appointment. You won’t be disappointed.

Edita and Phiwan are amazing! Let me start by saying that.
When we couldn’t find a convenient time for Edita to work on myself and my friend at her downtown location, she was kind enough to make a rare house call with her partner Phiwan. And then my friend’s husband got to have a massage, too! Between them, they’re capable of one and two hour massages in various styles, body work, and Edita even put me in «flight» (you have to try that for yourself! but it’s awesome!). They were both extremely talented, friendly, and knowledgeable. Also compassionate, caring, and nurturing. I often find practitioners of Eastern spiritual arts slightly annoying, but Edita was really fun, funny, and comfortable to be around – not even a little pushy. I think she just wants to help her clients in the best way they can and really give them what they need in the moment and for the long term health and well-​being of their minds and bodies. When she finished with us, I really felt like I had made a new friend. Genuine empathy or savvy customer service? I don’t know, but I was completely satisfied with her either way. Do invite her along to your next corporate event, wedding, or bachelorette party.

I received several Thai Massages from Edita and felt like newly born afterwards. I was very much relaxed and energized at the same time.
Edita is a lot of fun and also a very gifted. When you meet Edita you know that she truly cares about the people. She is having the most wonderful feminine energy that makes you forget all your worries and let go of all tensions, and she also makes you laugh and feel at ease. I can’t wait to work with her again.
