I would still give Lee 5 stars if I could find him! But Toujour’s phone number is disconnected and the website doesn’t load. I knew they were moving to a new location, so when I saw the empty storefront I assumed that had happened. But where is the new location? It seems they’re completely closed at the moment. Really wish current customers had been kept in the loop.

I’ve called two days in a row trying to make an appointment, and no answer! Seems weird for a salon to not answer their phone in the middle of the day.

Zero! I bought a groupon for $ 69 and they confirmed my appointment via text yesterday. I showed up to My appointment and they aren’t even in business. There was a construction guy there breaking things down and he told me they are not in business anymore. Had to call groupon and get a refund. I need my hair cut and colored for a wedding I’m in and now I’m not sure if I can get an appointment anywhere. Unbelievable. What a scam?! Does anyone know of a salon that can take me in?

Giving a thumbs up to the new esthetician Jessie! Paid attention to my skin, and gave me tips on how I can better it! Went in there embarrassed cause of how course and overall crappy my skin has been feeling and walked out feeling comfortable with no makeup! Still 4 days later my skin is soft & my breakouts have now cleared! I’ll be coming back again: D

this review is for Melissa the esthetician and Front staff… Both are great! I just left a wonderful facial service and had to write a review. I had an expired groupon and they accommodated me — no problem or attitude. Melissa did a wonderful job and I felt so comfortable and no product pushing. I feel awesome and my skin looks great! I booked another appointment right then. 5 stars all the way !

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at Toujours Spa and Salon. wonderfully pleasant staff. My stylists Lee and manager Amanda did a knockout job with my hair. I was cutting off 8 inches to donate(which could have been an anxiety-inducing experience, as I was essentially transitioning from a long-locked gal to a short, no-locked gal), and once Amanda got wind of that, she made sure I had the best haircut of my life. My long mane had become unruly and difficult manage, but thanks to Lee I now have the cutest mod-esque bob. And Amanda spent some time to texturize my thick hair just right. I can’t thank them enough for their efforts to make me look and feel great. I used a Groupon for my first experience, but I will definitely be back. Thanks Toujours! Should also mention that Toujours is under new management, so they will be changing their name soon.

Very friendly staff! The person who did my waxing was incredibly nice(it made up for the pain haha) and quite easy to talk to. Great business in the Andersonville area. Also participates in Belly loyalty program according to my app. Thank you, guys!

So I was a huge fan of a salon in my old hood, Bucktown for my Brazilian. Only I wanted to find a new place to go to since my move to Edgewater about a year ago. I feel like the stars just aligned as I had been researching places in the area and Toujours was at the top off my list. Then I saw a GROUPON for my Brazilian. Let me add the Groupon, total DEAL! HOWEVER, no Groupon this place is the spot in Andersonville. Can I tell you first off the receptionist doing the scheduling is just pure joy to talk to. She is super personable, knowledgeable on the product line offered at the salon. Now let’s get Lily, who did my Brazilian. I hate to be that person, but literally had to handle a call while getting the Brazilian. Like what… Who can get a Brazilian and be able to talk on the phone. Yeah, well if you go to Lily I can tell tell you for FACT she is PAINLESS. Now that’s just about the people and the services. I haven’t even mentioned Product Line offered for sale at the salon or the lux feel of the salon when you walk in the door. Yeah, SOLD here. I can’t wait to go back and see how they can handle my pixie cut and color. … More to come, but I’m just saying, already impressed.

Called to reschedule my appointment bc my babysitter fell through. Toujours charged me a 100% service charge as part of their«cancellation policy.» I have never encountered a cancellation policy like this before. A rude way to start one’s weekend! So bc of this outrageous policy they have lost my business forever and the aesthetician lost her tip. This business seems like it’s on life support anyways. I can foresee them going flatline soon if they stick to such rigid policies. Who wants to bother with that when you’re gracious enough to call versus being a no show. There’s too much competition to bother with that kind of unforgiving customer service,(or lack thereof.)

I purchased a groupon for a facial and Lily was my aesthetician. The facial room was downstairs. It was clean and comfortable. However, the lights remained on during the entire time of my facial, so it was difficult to relax because I was facing upward toward bright lights the entire time. During my skin ‘consultation’, I felt that little time was spent discussing my skin and that recommendations were general/not helpful. I was also told my skin was dry and that I have small pores, when it is obvious that the only concern on my face is larger pores and oily skin. I was also told extractions were an additional $ 15, which is odd because every facial I have gotten included extractions… I basically paid for 50 minutes(supposed to be 60) for someone to wash the makeup off my face and massage it.

Short story: Got curly hair? Go in for a consultation. If the stylist doesn’t answer your questions the way you think they should or suggests anything you know from years of curly cuts shouldn’t be done to curly hair — walk out IMMEDIATELY. Like I should have. Long story: I have super-thick curly hair. I used to see someone at Toujours who was wonderful — the first cut she ever gave me was the only time in my adult life that I walked out of the salon and didn’t immediately go home to play with it(instead, I went out for drinks in Andersonville, confident and happy!). Alas, that wonderful stylist is no longer cutting hair at Toujours. And I did not leave confident and happy this time around. As with all tales of hair woe, I did the thing I told myself I shouldn’t do: I went in for a cut instead of a consultation, and I didn’t leave when my head and my gut told me to. I called the salon to book, so I could check up on the other stylists who were cutting curly hair. I asked what kind of techniques the salon employed in cutting curly hair(knowing that my last stylist knew how to cut using Devachan and using carve/slice techniques). The receptionist said, «We don’t limit ourselves to one style of curly hair technique.» She was right: because my stylist didn’t use one style curly hair technique. Not a single one. Here are the Pros of what happened during my appointment with Sarry: * Sarry is personable and enthusiastic. He’s good at keeping clients engaged. * He made a few adjustments to my hair after I protested a bit on my way to pay. * After the cut was done, he was insistent that if I didn’t like it, I should come back and he’d fix it. Which is nice and professional of him, but I won’t let him touch it again. Now for the Cons: * He was ten minutes late in starting the appointment — he had run over with another client. He was apologetic, but came off as frazzled. * He cut my hair wet. I have been getting dry cuts since 2007, so I found this more than a little weird. When asked if he cut curly hair dry — or if he would dry-cut it while fixing it — he said he could only cut it wet. * After shampooing me, he proceeded to give me a blunt bob — the kind that people with thin, stick-straight hair get(’cause it looks super-cool on them!), where the stylist meticulously measures each side and cuts the ends while they’re stretched out over a fine-tooth comb. The kind of cut that, when done on a head of thick, curly hair, gives the curly girl a different classic look: triangle hair. The kind that plagued my teen years in the late 90s and has made this summer’s go-to hairdo a topknot. * For all of this, I was charged $ 75 for a «curly» cut that didn’t employ any of the techniques that my old curly stylists would use, and took about 30 minutes(not counting the fix). It was a straight cut, and I should have been charged accordingly. I won’t be back.

This was not the worst haircut I have had in my life… its the second worst. If I wanted to look like a soccer mom, I would have gone to the hair cuttery and at least there they would have made sure the ends were even on both sides.(there is probably an inch difference between the right and left). Sarry was very pleasant despite the product/service pushing. And he told me that if I didn’t like anything I could come back and redo it. But after this experience, I have vowed never to let any midwesterner near my hair with a shears again. Update: someone I don’t know very well just pointed out to me that my hair is cut uneven.

I’ve waited a couple of days to write this review to see if I could work with my new hair cut, but it is just a disaster. I had hair to the middle of my back and asked for a shorter style. All in all I would say my haircut took less than 15 minutes by Sarry. The layers are incredibly blunt and do not blend together what so ever. I can literally see where each layer ends and have even had some friends comment on how noticeable and uneven it all looks. Then when he was blow drying my hair he burned my scalp, twice. Also what I found incredibly awkward and have never encountered at any other salon is when I was finished he waited at the front desk while I paid and did not leave until I gave him his tip! In addition, when you walk by this salon it is usually empty and there is a hairdresser who stands out in front and takes his cigarette break, and he does so often. He should be going in the back. Also when we walked in another hairdresser was slouched in his chair on his cell phone, and when they weren’t sitting they were by the reception talking. The music was loud and the music variety was terrible and at times raunchy(so if you have children I would not bring them here). I am only giving this one star because the girl at the reception was very friendly. A waste of my hard earned money for sure. I will never recommend this salon and am confused as to why an employee can write a 5 star review on their Unilocal page. No wonder there are no real pictures on their Unilocal page.

Sarry took my hot mess of hair and really transformed it into a stylish mens haircut. I normally hate getting styled at salon because I have horrible cowlicks but when Sarry started cutting my hair, he seemed to do it just right! I was visiting and this was a refreshing surprise but now I am planning to move back and Toujours Spa and Salon will be my go-to! Sorry will be my go-to! Thanks so much!

Eeek… it pains me to write this. In fact, I waited two weeks, hoping by now I’d accept my new do, but alas every single time someone says«oh, you have bangs now» I want to cry because I am noting that they aren’t saying«I like your new bangs.» The reason you ask? Because my three year old daughter and I are twins with our matching hairstyles. Here’s the kicker — I did not ask for bangs. I haven’t had bangs since I was a preteen. Okay, here’s how it went down. I went in with my groupon and the man who I met with was very friendly, although his English was not very good and wouldn’t you know it’s the one time I didn’t bring in a picture. All I was intending on having done was a trim, just clean it up. He clearly didn’t understand me, even when I tried to demonstrate with hand gestures, demonstrating the length I wanted it cut to. Instead, I closed my eyes and could feel him in front of my face, I knew it was going to happen, I just knew it, but didn’t have the heart to stop him and to my horror — sure enough, blunt bangs. The sad thing is not only were they blunt bangs, but they were uneven and he took the hair for the middle of my hairline to make the bangs fuller so not only am I waiting for the bangs to grow out, but it seems that my already really thin hair is less than when I started. I hate writing this because he was so sweet and nice and gave me a hug when I left and I gave him a good tip because I just felt bad and hoped that I would just need to get used to it, but alas, I haven’t and I just want others to be careful. If you have a gut feeling that you aren’t being heard or understood, it’s best to speak up before you end up looking like your three year old’s twinzie!

If you have long hair, don’t waste your money! I came here with a $ 25 Groupon. All I had done was add layers to my hair… not an actual cut. Took the stylist ten minutes max to do this. I was told at the check out an extra $ 10 fee would be added for my long hair which isn’t even THAT long. I went home and read the Groupon and sure enough under the FINEPRINT it said extra fee for long hair. How sheisty. Lesson learned: always read the fine print.

Been using their waxing services for several years(Lily and Emma) and I’m always happy with the end result. I’ve seen Sarry(3 or 4X now) for color and cut and was happy. Recently had experience with another stylist, Louie,(Sarry was booked) and wasn’t happy with the color, which was very uneven and just weird looking, or the cut. I was also supposed to get 20% off for referring a friend, but at checkout was told I couldn’t. I emailed the owner, Mohammed, about the bad experience and he said Sarry would work with me(for free) and get the discount I should have on my next paid service. Sarry was awesome and stayed late to get me in– a very last minute accommodation — and I love my hair. I think the customer service was great in trying to keep me a satisfied customer, and I am and will be returning.

I went back and forth about writing this review, but here it is. This was probably the worst Brazilian wax of my life. Now, they are never pleasant. It’s not like getting a massage, but the reason why I(and probably most who get them) do get them is because they’re fast. Such was not the case. I wanted to save some money and bought a Groupon for a $ 25 wax. The appointment started out well enough, and Lily was sweet, but man oh man. 1. This wax took THIRTY minutes. If you’re getting hair ripped out of you, this better be fast. I’ve never had a wax last longer than 15 minutes. 2. It probably took so long because she kept going over the same areas over and over again. This makes for super sore and sensitive skin. 3. Just wax it all at once, not one side at a time. Again, we could’ve been done by now. 4. Look, I don’t need to be BFFs with the people giving me my wax, but if we’re gonna be hanging out for this long, just… make some small talk to distract me from the… 5. Burning hot wax you’re using. Not for me, will not be going back.

Today I waltzed during a snowstorm for a quick style re-set and had an amazing experience. Tuba cut my hair. She’s a talented stylist and lovely person. I always appreciate when a stylist listens! She made my hair look AMAZING. Lily also did a very nice job with my eyebrows. I think I may have to defect from my regular salon! Thanks Toujours!
