Had a great time here on a trip won through our credit union. Food was a little cold but it was a buffet. Worth the trip just to be inside and up the top of Sears Tower

Wonderful food and wonderful staff! Highly recommend the Char salad, filet, and crème brûlée — delicious. The views of Chicago from here are the best I’ve seen.

Dined here to celebrate my husband’s new job. The Good: The lobster Mac and Cheese was my favorite dish of the night! It’s an appetizer but both the hubby and I regretted not ordering it again as our entrée. The gooeyness of the cheese was offset by the herb crust and the flavors were just perfect. The sesame crusted ahi tuna. The hubby loved this entrée. I am not a fan of ahi tuna because of the fishiness but the crunch from the sesame and the slaw with the tuna made this dish amazing. We had dined on a travelzoo voucher. Even so, our waiter comped our drinks in honor of my husband’s new job. He didn’t have to yet he went above and beyond. Jazz was great! The Bad: The dessert was good as well, but couldn’t compete with the flavor profiles of our first and second course. Ordered the chocolate lava cake and peach cobbler. Husband opted for the peach cobbler — wasn’t a fan. But to the cobbler’s defense we are both chocolate people anyway. I had the chocolate cake — it was okay. Your basic cake with a scoop of ice cream. Alaskan halibut — too many carbs not enough meat on the plate. Taste was okay — considering how yummy the apps and tuna were, I was underwhelmed. The Ugly: Nothing ugly to see here folks.

Price is amazingly reasonable dinning on such spectacular second tallest building in the world. Food is good and tasty. I requested for window seats when booking, the night scenery is stunning. Good for taking tourist friends who are visiting Chicago.

Went here because of the $ 119 travelzoo deal, and I highly recommend it. Set a reservation for 6:30, but got here at 5:30 to get a window seat. Big note, it gets insanely busy around 6:30. Got to choose an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Portions are not small – surprised to say they’re a decent size and quite filling. From the lobster mac and cheese to the filet mignon and cheesecake, I really enjoyed all of it. After the meal, you can get the sky deck tickets if you got the voucher with it.

My sister and I had purchased a Travelzoo discount for The Metropolitan Club to take our significant others on a trip in early August. Booking our reservation was easy and when we arrived, everything was perfect. The really amazing part was that we did not have a restricted menu! We were able to order anything on the menu for our appetizer, entrée, and dessert. The reason for 4 stars was that at the end of the day, we ended up still paying a ton of money for everything and they were a little sketchy about the bill. Our server didn’t have an itemized bill for us so we couldn’t tell what was paying for our drinks and what everything else was for– overall, I pay $ 120 for the voucher(including Skydeck access) and $ 89 at the restaurant. To me, that doesn’t seem like a very good deal at the end of the day. Appetizer: I had the beef(cannot remember the name) and it was delicious. Very rare slices with delicious toppings. Definitely not large enough to share though. Dinner: Filet Mignon… CANNOTGOWRONGHERE. This literally melted in our mouths. 3 of the 4 of us got this and still can’t stop talking about it now! A month later. Don’t even kid yourself ordering anything else. Dessert: Chocolate cake(cannot remember the name) and it was extremely rich. It was definitely worth it but perhaps a little too rich for my taste after so much other great food.

Was here for my cousin’s wedding, the best thing about the place was the view, beautiful! The only complaint I have was the lack of bathrooms and stalls in bathrooms. Other than that, service, food, atmosphere was great, especially for a wedding!

We had a beautiful table for our entire family and the staff was extremely attentive the entire evening. It was Friday, so I ordered the surf and turf special. It’s an incredible deal with the steak cooked to perfection. Plus, the servings were more than adequate. We had a lovely evening. The tables near the windows have incredible views of the Chicago skyline. We will be back for sure!

My wife and I had a disappointing experience. I am stunned The Metropolitan Club has so many good reviews. We purchased the TravelZoo Voucher which provided us with a 3 course meal. We had to pay for gratuity and liquor. The location is an amazing location, 60ish floor of the Willis Tower, it was the only enjoyable part of the evening. I am not sure what level of restaurant The Metropolitan Club thinks it is but it fell short of the price we paid which was almost $ 200 including the TravelZoo voucher. We dine out a lot in Chicago and have come to expect when spending that money an experienced waiter/waitress. Ours was not. He was young and inexperienced. Questions and comments he made included but not limited to, «Would you like garnish like a lemon with your dirty martini?» or «No you cannot order your starter dish first you must be ready to order your starter and main course at the same time because I am too busy.» Hmm Ok?! We started with the Lobster Mac n Cheese and Diver Scallop. The mac and cheese was good but again what kind of restaurant are they trying to be. I have have good mac and cheese at local bars. For our main course we had the NY Strip($ 45) and my wife had the Halibut($??). Everything on the NY Strip steak dish was coated with some kind of sauce. The potatoes had a cream sauce and the steak had a bbq, yes bbq sauce coating it. It was a tough cut of meat. It was cooked well to a perfect medium rare but the meat did not have any marbling and was very chewy I quit half way through. The halibut was good but we have had the same dish for much less. The desserts were enjoyable, Lava Cake and Bread Pudding. After seeing the desserts and comparing them to the rest of the meal we started to see a trend. We thought, because of the average age of the wait staff, the designs and quality of the dishes prepared this may be a feeder restaurant for a culinary school. In general it didn’t present itself as a polished elegant restaurant. The pain I experienced in being forced to pay a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill for a two person dinner was, well ugh.

4 stars for great quality food, fast and friendly service and staff, and the view! Well put on your fancy pants and enjoy their decadent apps, dishes and desserts. Apps: I had their scallops for appetizer and man, it was like eating a piece of heaven. It’s was soft and spongy, lots of flavor and perfectly cooked. I tried the beef carpaccio and that was super delish and perfectly prepped meat. Skip the oysters app, not crazy about the spinach topping Entrée: I had the filet mignon and although I appreciate the quality, I thought the taste was pretty average. My sister had the tuna and that was to die for! Desserts: I had the lava cake, banana bread pudding and crime brûlée. Wow!!! Get them all!!! The view was absolutely phenomenal as Chicago is just stunning. We watched the sunset from our table and that experience alone made this $$$ dinner worth it. TIP: when making your reservation, ask for a window seat. And don’t forget to press your pants, hair, and your atm. Jussayin.

There’s no assistance or sign in the lobby on the procedure to go to the restaurant. The ladies at the front desk had to stop us and ask if we needed to check in. We’ve never been there before so how would we know we needed to check in and get tickets to get passed the security guard? They asked our reservation name, scanned each of our IDs, gave us our tickets and pointed us in the direction of the«guy in the gray suit». Once we were through the metal detector and the guarded gates, there was once again no assistance or signs telling us which of the numerous elevator banks took us to the restaurant. We go to the 66th floor and take the escalator up to 67. I don’t know why they don’t have an elevator that stops at 67. We walk to a sign that points right for the Metropolitan, but there’s only locked doors and more elevators. We thought that may be they weren’t open yet, so we waited it after 6pm. Doors didn’t open at 6, so we looked to the other side of the sign and found the hallway leading up to what looks like a restaurant. We check in a second time at the reception desk, who shows us to the host stand, who shows us to our table. The place was pretty empty. They seat us at a table facing west but there was another table facing the north with a better view. We asked to sit there. The hostess said but the view is better at the first table and seemed annoyed that we asked to take the other table with the view we felt was better. décor was nice but seemed to be more appealing for the older generation. Starters: 1) lobster mac and cheese — deliciously cheesy but would have be better with more larger chunks of lobster and if it wasn’t so hot. I had to blow each scoop to cool it so I wouldn’t burn my tongue more than twice. I was the only one left still on my starter. 2) Scallops — also delicious, but very small with only 2 pieces. The pickled grapes didn’t seem to compliment the dish. Entrée: 1) Halibut — soft but had no taste without drowning it in the tomato based sauce. 2) Ribeye — tasteful and the veggies, mushrooms and potatoes complimented it well. Desserts: 1) lava cake — just perfect 2) NY cheesecake — richly good. Disappointed with the service, even though the restaurant want mostly empty, b/c our champagne glasses were dirty along the rim, there was a long wait for our entrees after the starters, our table wasn’t fully cleared for the main course, we had to ask for water refills, we had to try to hunt down our waiter and ended up having another waiter find our waiter, had to take our desserts to go since we were there so long already, we had our jackets on and was ready to go before the waiter was able to swipe our card. Food was good but was really disappointed in the lack of fanciness it had for being an upscale restaurant.

From an outside Chicago visitor perspective: 1) The view is amazing. Request a window seat ahead of time if possible. 2) Be prepared to get cavity searched before security allows you onto the elevators. 3) The menu offering is average. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good. I would only go here for a meet up with friends but definitely not a special occasion. There could have been more beef offerings. Overall, good dining experience.

The food here is delicious! I really enjoyed the scallops appetizer, the ahi tuna main entrée as well as the beef tenderloin. The sauces were delicious and complemented each main dish well. Service was also impeccable. For these reasons alone, I give the club a 5 star no brainer. I do have some complains regarding the travelzoo deal they set up as well as the way they charge people. I didn’t want this to be the reason that i dock points but I want to write this note to forewarn all other potential diners who buy into this deal: We bought a $ 89 voucher dinner for 2 that included appetizers, entrée and dessert. We wanted to check out the sky deck and wasn’t sure if our voucher included this option. The lady at the front desk gave us tickets and told us that the voucher did include a brief walk through. However when it was time to check out — the restaurant marked us as having bought the $ 119 deal. And then charged the tips based off this rather than the $ 89. Had we known that the sky deck was extra — we would not have gone. Our final bill(we ordered 2 glasses of wine plus taxes and tips) came out to $ 65. They pre-assign a 20% tip so you can’t give less if you wanted to. If you are looking for a clean deal — aka you walk away paying nothing or close to it, this is not it. They really make sure you pay the tips based off the entire bill rather than just the items you paid for. All in all, I did not mind paying more but would have appreciated the restaurant more if they have just told me up front. In any case I think this is a good place to go if you are looking to splurge.

If you haven’t been here and you live in Chicago you gotta grab dinner here at least once! The view and food was wonderful! Very cute date night. Only thing that seemed a little off to me was the servers and bartender. The person behind the bar looked a lot older… And really seemed like he didn’t know what he was doing… He could barely see or use the computer system. Idk seemed off but the view and food was worth it!

Let me start off by saying I am not a member and I went there for Valentines day. The club is open to the public for dinner so I decided to give it a try. From the minute we got out of the elevator, the service was beyond amazing. We were welcomed by the host who gave my girlfriend a rose. After finding my reservation we were walked over to our table which had a very nice view. Since my girlfriend is celiac, we asked for a special menu at which point the waiter went to discuss it with the chef. A few minutes later he came back and informed us that the chef will be preparing all of our food from scratch to ensure that there is no cross contamination and chance of getting sick. It ended up being a five course meal which was served very nicely and promptly. At some point there was a delay between the courses(which we didn’t even notice) and the server apologized and gave us an additional plate of food to make up for it. The food was very good and even certain things that I thought I’d never like ended up tasting amazing. There is absolutely nothing that I can thing of that was negative. The dress code appeared very strict but that was to be expected. Even though it’s a bit on the pricey side it is well worth every penny.

My wife and I received a gift certificate for a dinner for two at the Metropolitan Club. While we had never heard of it before we decided to give it a shot. The food was OK, but was nothing special. It was also very overpriced for what you got. While the wine list was very long and packed full of unnecessarily expensive bottles, they still included a ~$ 30 prosecco and a ~$ 30 Red Zin. These saved the day for us! The waitstaff was also very professional and a pleasure to eat with. Do not go here for the food. If you want to, go here for the views of the city. We sat at a table with an unobstructed view of the lake and northern art of the City. Beautiful place to enjoy the company you came with!

Had a Travelzoo $ 89 dinner for two deal here. Distilled of everything else, this is a fantastic bargain for what was excellent food. I can’t give it 5 stars however because logistics weren’t explained well by reservations and service was kind of cold and perfunctory. LOGISTICS: you can’t just walk into the Willis Tower and zip up to floor 67 for dinner. We called for a reservation and got one easily enough on a snowy cold day but neither the TravelZoo voucher nor the person taking the rez explained(as BOTH should have) that with our $ 30 add-on Skydeck tour we could not enter the building from Wacker Drive(where it SAYS Skydeck!??) and go up there first. Mind you we were asked by reservations if we had the Skydeck add-on and we said yes and were encouraged to do that first… which is what we tried to do via the Wacker entrance. Got through security and the whole nine only to be told that we had to LEAVETHEBUILDINGTOTHEFRANKLINENTRANCEANDGOUPTOTHEMETROPOLITANCLUBFIRSTANDBEESCORTEDUPTHEIRPRIVATEELEVATORTOTHESKYDECK. Ridiculous! Better coordination in that building is needed! It was zero degrees and snowing and this was the beginning of our night. Adding insult to injury, we get up to the empty Metropolitan Club, check in, our TravelZoo voucher was taken in exchange for two ID badges that just said Metropolitan Club. Then we’re told to wait by a hallway elevator for someone to come down and escort us up to the Skydeck. We waited ten+ minutes and no one came so I reminded Veronica what we were doing. She called again and finally someone came down. Then we get up the Skydeck and they ask for our PASSES!!! What passes you stupid fuqs?!? Poor poor poor coordination here. Made to go outside, made to wait. All on a completely non-busy day. I could imagine this place falling apart on a busy Friday summer night. SERVICE: I was a server for years and dealt with it all from tourists to cheapskates to people bringing in deals like and not tipping on the pre-deal amount. I get it. And here we are, probably appearing as tourists because of the venue and with a TravelZoo deal. Our service was fine but just felt palpably disdainful and dismissive at first. Just not very welcoming. Our server did warm up later in the meal when it was revealed we are locals(and cool people to boot, methinks). We even got a comp glass of champagne at meal end which was a nice touch. FOOD: The food was awesome. Really really tasty and prepared well. This would be a 5-star review had we not had the initial access snafus and initially cold service. The deal included 2 apps, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. We started with 2 giant Dover scallops with rosemary. Cooked just right and ultra tasty with a sweet/sour contrast from the grapes. Lobster mac was decadent, hot, and had a lot of big chunks of lobstah. Entrée halibut with ratatouille veggies and hazelnut pesto was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My sesame crusted tuna was cooked just as perfectly and tasted divine over a sweet hoisin sauce with a colorful and gorgeous Asian slaw that was tangy. Desserts of molten lava cake and tiramisu in a mason jar were fine but we were crazy full and didn’t feel these were the strong points of the food. At first when looking over the menu I thought to myself, «wow, these are old school dishes, something you’d thing was edgy on a menu in 1992.» So it’s not some goofy ass pretentious dish that some new-on-the-scene hotspot’s got, but then again it’s good solid old school preparations done just right. Can’t fault it at all. TZ voucher also gave us 20% off wine bottles. We got a delightful Grgich Hills(Rutherford, CA) fumé blanc for $ 74 minus the $ 14.20.

Fantastic dinner with a gorgeous view! We were also able to visit the Skydeck before our dinner using their private elevator. Great way to get ready for a dinner with the setting sun. Our 4-person group split the four appetizers of the oyster rockafellers, rosemary pierced diver scallops, lobster mac and cheese, and shrimp cocktail. All were great choices and easy to share. Our favorite out of the four was the oysters. For my entrée, I ordered the peppercorn beef tenderloin, medium rare. It came prepared just the temperature I was looking for. The meat was flavorful and tender! Even though it was delicious, my neighbor’s sesame seared ahi tuna was equally, if not more, delicious than the steak. I tried a bite of hers and it was light, refreshing, and with the right mix of flavors(slightly citrus-y and crisp from the rice paper). It was probably me being sick of heavy Chicago-style pizza. We also ordered 4 desserts to share. I don’t remember the names exactly, but they included ginger crumble and cheesecake. The standout was the one served in a mason jar(forgot what it was). So yummy! Service was spot-on. They were attentive but gave our group space to converse without major interruption. We were fortunate to also get seated by the window, so we enjoyed both the sunset and the city night lights while digging into the three course meal! We were looking forward to this meal all week and it surely did not disappoint!

So this review will come in two parts. We are holding an annual Academic Debates at The Met Club in February. Our event begins with a cocktail hour for 250 people followed by a plated sit-down dinner. My second review will come after the event. This first part is based on a walk-through I did of the event space on the 66th floor. The views from all the rooms we toured are stunning! It is perfect for our medical professional event. The space itself is very flexible and looks professional and clean even when not event-ready. As we are a smaller non-profit, dressing up the space is a deal breaker. Décor is not in the budget. The event space also allows room for growth which is a HUGE plus. Another nice thing? The price is very reasonable with the non-profit discount and everything is included from food and drink to linens and av equipment. As the event hasn’t happened yet, this place gets 5-stars…for now. Only time will tell if it stays at 5-stars.

Amazing dinner with an incredible view of the city… and we got to experience it with a groupon! When we arrived, we got to enjoy an amuse-bouche of lobster wrapped in phyllo dough drizzled in basil aioli, compliments of the chef. And that was only the beginning! The groupon entitled us to two appetizers, and we chose the lobster mac and cheese and the rosemary pierced diver scallops. Both were amazing, but the lobster mac and cheese was some of the best I’ve enjoyed. I could have had that for my dinner, as much as I enjoyed the pan-roasted halibut. The lobster mac and cheese was just beyond. We also got to pick two desserts, and we chose the key lime pie served in a martini glass and the chocolate lava cake. We should have picked two lava cakes… It was just perfectly cooked. Moist through and through, with just the right amount of ice cream and whipped cream to soften the richness. I had much more than I planned to, given how stuffed I was from the first two courses… Because it was just so good. Helpful hints: when you arrive at the Sears(/Willis) Tower, you have to check in on the first floor and get escorted through presidential levels of security. And see what you can do to request a window table when you make your reservation… Even though you can watch the sun set over the city from anywhere, you are essentially surrounded by it in a window seat. The third and final tip is just to come here… It’s a quintessential Chicago experience though not necessarily a traditional or conventional one!
