I tried out a family counselor for a few months. I wanted to stop going every week and limit the number of visits to twice a month(financial issues) but the person I was seeing fought me on it. I understand that they have to «make a living» but as the«customer» I should be able to decide how many visits I want– not to be bullied into going more times than my finances allow. I have since stopped my counseling.

The Family Institute is a wonderful place! As I actually prefer working with graduate student clinicians anyway, this is what I was looking for. My two co-therapists, Dana and Myra, are very sweet and truly supportive of me. Since I am going through a great deal in my life currently, I believe I have found the right place and the right people to help me.

It was next to impossible to raise anyone here. I left messages three times(with a week in between each one) and it took a terse fourth to get a response. The woman who returned my call was nice enough, but the assurance that she would call me back within two days with further information fell flat. I waited almost a week, before I called her back directly and left another message. And then they were unable to assist me. I know they are doing their best, but I chased them up for weeks. I hope I am the anomaly, because they sound like they provide a good service to the community.

I have been going here for the past four years. First, these are student therapists but they are very good and as such they charge a sliding scale fee of about $ 10 weekly. Secondly since they are students, when they graduate, you get a new therapist. That’s the only drawback, having to start over with a new therapist yearly. These are excellent therapists though and have helped me through some very tough times. I highly recommend this place if you are unable to afford high-priced help.

First off, I haven’t been to this location but have been going to the location in Evanston for some time. They are a real god send. They work with anyone and everyone, based on your ability to pay. Being a student with no insurance means my therapy visits are $ 10 each. That’s right, how amazing! I had Sarah as my counsellor. The sweetest, most understanding person I have really ever spoken to. I was going through a really tough time, and her sympathetic ear really made matters improve. I urge you to go to this place if you need help. They will work with you at your schedule, and your ability to pay. The rooms are very comfy, peaceful, and help put you at ease. I was a ball of nerves ready to cry before I started going there, and it has helped. unfortunately my treatments stopped bc of my school schedule changing. But i’m going to start going back there again. Please, if you need any mental health or just someone to listen, do not hesitate to try this place. It can make a world of a difference

offers family, couple and individual therapy. great experience. they charge on a sliding scale so if you are a student it’s as little as $ 5. if not it’s still very reasonable. beautiful office and great staff. i recommend them to anyone.
