This place isn’t centered around gyros, but they make them great. Nice and juicy, thinly sliced, with fresh onions and tomatoes and sauce on a soft, warm, chewy, slightly crunchy pita. Good fries and the prices are very reasonable. The chicken nuggets are good too.

I’ve tried a few things here and everything has been really good. Love their Chicago dogs and onion rings.

I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, mushroom poppers, and cheese fries. Not only was the sandwich greasy, but it was overcooked and bland. The fries looked like they bought them from McDonalds and nuked them and passed it off as theirs again way overcooked. I saw they had a Unilocal sticker on their door. I can’t fault the food I’ve actually had better and Smokehouse grill can make a better grilled cheese hell even billy goat grill can do a kick ass grilled cheese. The cheese on the fries was the same kind of cheese the gas station put on their nachos it was from a squeeze bottle. I didnt even finish them they didnt exactly taste very good.

This place rocks! Lines out the door! No minimum to use a card/debut here! Try the two dog special!!! Free refills! The customer is right going here! Best hot dog place in the City! Thanks guys! A real Chicago-guy kind-of-place.

I should have sensed danger when the cashier couldn’t find my sandwich on the register. Perhaps that was my mistake for going here and ordering a corned beef sandwich… It was dry, over cooked, and tough. Should have stuck with a hot dog or something. My wife got the chicken wings which were actually pretty mediocre. They were freshly made upon request, which was nice, but about 90% breading. Will be trying other places before we head back here.

Don’t eat at the restaurant. It was a huge cluster. The line cooks have no idea what’s going on. The guy taking money seemed angry but wasn’t helping

When you search for a a place to get a burger, hot dog, or Italian beef, all places seem to be the same. Chipmunks is certainly above most of the others. First of all, it is never so busy that you have to wait to order, making every trip there a quick one — I love how fast I get my food. Second, it’s perfectly priced! Nothing too expensive on their menu. Last, the food. It’s all good. Take that statement with a grain of salt because I haven’t tried it all, but you understand my point. My favorites are the burgers, cheese sticks, and gyros. The portions are just what you want, and always hot and tasty whenever I make my appearances. Hope you enjoy Chipmunks as much as I do. Happy eating

It can be a little hit or miss — for example their gyro and hamburgers aren’t anything but the chicken sandwich and Italian sausage is good. Their fries and onion rings have never disappointed. Biggest plus for me is it is in walking distance and dirt cheap so if I need a quick meal on the go, it is supper slick and quick.

Solid hamburgers and fries; my husband LOVED his gyro. Other than the crazy lady that argued with the owner and caused a huge scene in front of us… Pretty decent little place.

I’ve eaten here a couple times over the last couple of weeks and the food has just been ok. The hot dogs and fries were fine but the Italian beef is HORRIBLE! Bland with no flavor whatsoever. It’s clear their beefs don’t sit in the juice. They dip it in when its ordered and that’s it. My auntie loved their gyros and my mom enjoyed their hamburger. I didn’t try either one so I’m posting their opinion in case you are curious. If you’re hungry and need something in your belly immediately, try it. Otherwise, there are plenty of other options in this great metropolis.

There was NOTHING special about my meal. My fries were over cooked & very dry. It tasted like someone reheated McDonalds French fries in the microwave 2x. Customer service was crappy. It was my first time there, it was not crowded & yet the woman taking my order seemed to be in a rush.

I have never been disappointed in the service or the quality of the food. I like the menu that offers a good variety along with some daily suggestions. My favorite has been the gyro sandwich which is lightly grilled before assembled with the pita. It’s a great go to place when you need a reliable good tasting filling meal. The service is great.

Oh dear me, what can I say? This place has been my lover when it comes to their Chicken Alfredo. For they price, the quality and price, I am amazed. I use to order it once a week when I worked near their location, now that I work and live by Indiana it is complicated to go eat. But I will admit they have some pretty good food other than the pasta, their burgers, their chicken nuggets, cheese fries, and their pizza by the slice.

I ordered a hot dog fries and a drink. I got the smallest hot dog I have seen in my life. I bet I have eaten thousands of hot dogs in my 60 plus years and this was by far the smallest I have ever seen. I thought dogs were of standard sizes but this place seems to have found a smaller version of a regular hot dog. I cant believe that any place can sell a dog this thin and still expect the buyer to come back again. I paid $ 6.01 for the lunch so it was not a discounted lunch special. if the owner would of spendt 10 cents or less for a upgrade to a regular size dog he could of made of a new customer, instead he went to real cheap way and saved a few pennies. I wonder what else he does with the rest of the menu to save pennies on other items. I and my wife will never ever consider going back. there are many other places just like this place to get lunch.

Looking for a quick bite to eat, I found The Chipmunks a few streets away while heading home from Lincoln Park. The restaurant has surprisingly cheap(price wise) food and you can find things mostly between $ 3 and $ 12 if you’re not looking for a fancy meal. I had the chance to try their Gyro sandwich and their Spaghetti and meatballs, both of which were very flavorful and came with large amounts of meat. The gyro sandwich can easily be a meal on it’s own with the gyro meat overflowing from the pita. You can add an order of fries as well(comes by default with most burgers and dogs). The spaghetti came with garlic bread, nothing special, but good to dip into the large amount of thick marinara provided. From ordering to getting my food and leaving took less than 10 minutes and the staff was very friendly. 5 stars.

Really good food. I’m a fan of «The big salad» and if you order the garden salad that is exactly what you will get with a nice little slab of garlic bread. Everyone is always nice in there and the daily specials are usually a big hit with whoever I am with.(Who is not hooked on «The big salad»). :-)

This is a small but delicious little restaurant with a lot of variety of meals in Lincoln Park. It seems like every visit they have something new on the menu. The chicken is always fresh and the sides are plentiful. When summertime comes, the best seat in the house is actually outside along Diversy street. I’m a small girl but I can sure eat me some food. If you’re really hungry, order the fish sandwich because it’s yummy.

If you can get past the«Alvin the Chipmunk» knock-off sign outside the location, you will find that this is a very solid Chicago-style eatery. In addition to hot dogs and hamburgers, this restaurant offers pizza, gyros, corned and italian beef sandwiches, ribeye steak sandwiches, veggie burgers and salads amongst other things. The prices are reasonable, the food is cooked to order and there are always specials for various menu items every day. The staff here is friendly and efficient, although it does take a little time to serve the food. Again, the food is cooked fresh, which explains the wait. But it is worth it. Definitely look this place up if your travels take you near Diversey and Sheridan.
