We love it here. The food is tasty and filling. The wait staff is SUPER friendly and talkative. We have tried most of the things on the menu. I’m a sucker for their pork tamales, but for a bit more spice, you might like their chicken tamales. My husband likes to get the stir fry which is SO delicious. The desserts, in general, are good, but their mascarpone cheesecake is AMAZING. Don’t miss out!

Really disappointed here. The tacos were not really that big although they were a little on the pricey side. Despite trying all different types of meat, the lengua, asada, and al pastor tacos didn’t really taste too different from each other as they were actually mostly tasteless and a bit dry with the meat(the chorizo was definitely different, but wasn’t that great either). Unfortunately, the chopped parsley and onion really did nothing to add flavor to the tacos and simply just contributed to creating a mess while eating.

Omg. The. Worst. Food. Ever!!! I love Mexican food. Authentic Mexican food. When I moved to the area I was looking for good taco spot & stumbled upon this place. So I tried it out. I first asked the lady if they grilled the chicken for tacos. Some places do & its amazing! She said«No, its shredded chicken with a sauce.». Okay. I’ve had shredded chicken tacos before. No biggie. Got home with my two tacos, took a big bite & was so disappointed. Gahh! The flavor of the sauce was bland, they didn’t put any cheese or cilantro. I could tell they used chicken thigh for the meat. Siiigh. It was terrible. I gave them another chance. Ikr, crazy? I ordered the flauta dinner. How can you mess up flautas?! It came with rice & beans. It was better than the tacos but nothing to brag about. Rice was very average as well. Haven’t been back since. I travel to Pilsen & Logan Square for good quality Mexican food.

Susupuato is a satisfactory place to grab a meal. If you’re hungry and don’t feel like cooking, it’s basic Mexican food with a decent price. The delivery option is nice too, especially on cruddy days, but beware, they are so slow – sometimes a full hour to deliver tacos.

I’ve eaten here several times. The restaurant is a seat yourself establishment with table service, also BYOB. They typically bring over a basket of chips with a red and green salsa at the beginning of the meal. I had the chicken burrito most recently, and I have also had the veggie burrito in the past. Their burritos are grilled, giving them a great finish, and each time I’ve eaten here, it’s been perfect. The staff is also accommodating, friendly, and uninvasive. I plan to eat here many times in the future.

Eat their Al Pastor. It is excellent. Also, their gorditas are hand made… very good. The washroom is a bit dumpy… so avoid THAT if possible. The atmosphere is lacking but the wait staff is nice and the food is reasonably priced.

Bland bland bland. The cheese was nacho cheese and there were hardly any veggies on any plate. The salsa was disappointing. The meat was meh. I guess the only reason they are still open is because they are they only Mexican food off the stop. The prices are high as well. Not a good sign for them since Flaco’s is opening in the fall. I what them to revamp the place, though, because I would love a quality authentic Mexican restaurant around here.

This is one of my favorite spots. I think I’ve eaten everything on their menu. Chicken torta =bomb Beef soup aka Caldo de red = bomb digity(great for when your sick) chicken tamales = homemade awesomeness… smother it with green salsa! Bowl = delicious with steak, beef, or chicken Tony is usually my server and he is so sweet and friendly. He remembers his customers and makes sure he always refills your water, tortillas, etc.

I was working from the home base and needed a walk and some freakin’ tacos, so I as I ventured down the street I ran across what I thought looked like a likely prospect. Boy, was I wrong. Only customer in the place, and it took fully 10 minutes before they came to me as I stared blankly at the bizarre wall mural of what I could only tell was a bizarre Disney-like dream of mermaids and bulls. I still have no idea what that was about. As I diddled about on my phone trying to make an attempt at work, I was able to order a Mineragua and four tacos — a mix, since I have a terrible time deciding. As I stuffed pre-made chips in my mouth with decidedly bland red salsa, I was trying to figure out how the the overhead here worked. Is this place ever busy? They’re really trying hard. Hm. Maybe I’m selling them short. I’ve had some Mexican cuisine before that’s popped my eyes out and required replacement before, so perhaps this is an undiscovered treasure. But no. Sadly no. One chicken on flour, one steak on corn(cilantro/onion), two al pastor on corn(‘cos I love al pastor if it’s good). Bland. I had a hard time telling one from the other — they gotta up their spices, ‘cos on every level it tasted just the same. All the same… all the same… all THESAME… Like Styx. Unfortunate. I had high hopes that there’d be a go-to right here, but I think they’re catering to a palate that they shouldn’t. Plus, I’d like to see a Loyola co-ed start screaming and throwing a fit ‘cos of spice. Now, THAT’s entertainment.

I started off with the Horchata and chicken tamale with chips and salsa. My entre was the steak fajita burrito dinner and I ended the meal with flan. Service was great, I came in at 10 and finished promptly at 10:59, right before closing. The Horchata was more cinnamon than anything, I’ve had better. The chicken tamale was sort of bland, I’ve had better and worse. The burrito was huge but it was mostly stuffed with peppers. Disappointing. The rice was bland but good with the retried beans. The flan was thick and not gelatin like, just how I like it but the flavor was off. I’d come again to try the chimichanga.

Delicious food! I admit I haven’t tried the breadth of their menu, but only because their chicken burritos are so gosh darn delicious I can’t bring myself to order anything else every time I drop by. I frequently order to-go and usually specify a rather complex list of custom requests and with only a few exceptions they have always gotten it right. On the rare occasion they get one of my requests wrong they’ve bent over backwards to fix it when I come back to point out the error. Just to give you an idea how picky I am here’s my typical order: Chicken burrito dinner no sour cream double beans, no rice green sauce only no ketchup, forks, or napkins. I usually try and tip them at least 10−15% on togo orders because the employees are so kind.

Terrible food. I have ordered from here twice and both times it was just awful. Tonight I tried the nachos. There were only about 8 chips with very little toppings. To top it all off, it was cold.

My fiancé and I went here after a long day of craving Mexican food. The atmosphere was what you would expect from just about any Mexican food restaurant, vibrant colors and cliché pictures on the walls(you know, matadors fighting bulls, dancers, pueblo houses, etc.). The service was also what you would expect, quick tortilla plate with salsa and perhaps one stop from the waiter/waitress to take your order. The food was alright for the cost, but nothing really memorable about it. I would say it’s a fairly typical run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend it for a date, but I would certainly go back to sate my Mexican food munchies.

Its always nice to find a new late night spot to get some grub to soak up the liquor I over indulged in. Me and my buddy was totally smashed around 1AM and was in need of food. She knew about this place and I value her opinion so i was like hell yeah. They started us out with chips and salsa and then some of the best horchata i ever had from their machine… I had two cups of it. I then decided to order tacos: carne asada and al pastor! Was pretty damn good and hit the spot. Rice was pretty bland but it helped me in the long run lol. The ladies behind the counter were really nice and got quite a few laughs out of us as they knew the state we were in. Good stuff here!

Well… 15 bucks for skirt steak is ok. Only if it was a decent amount and cooked properly. Don’t order it.

The best restaurant in Edgewater! This is my favorite place to go and I am there maybe two times a month! The staff are so friendly and attentive. Love the taco dinner special! Love how fast the food comes out, love that you get complimentary chips and salsa! The staff are great. The price is not too bad either! I highly recommend this place to all!

These got got an extra half star for being one of the very few late options in Edgewater that are decent & not pizza. The torta fit the bill. The chicken gorditas lacked a touch of flavor & the rice wasn’t special but you know what? I was full & I was satisfied. It was late & they accommodated. They’re good in my book

We almost went somewhere else(unexpectedly, Ann Sather’s and M. Henrietta, around the corner, were both without lines this Saturday morning!), but because we had talked about this place a number of times, decided to stay and check it out. One doesn’t expect to be wow’d at a taqueria and the food here was unspectacular, but well-prepared and good to eat. Our table had a chicken burrito(nicely stewed chicken!), a well-seasoned Al Pastor burrito, and flautas suizas — all as dinners(with sides of frijoles refritos and Spanish rice). Quite filling for lunch — one half of a burrito went home with us. Our waiter was attentive and mostly unmemorable. So probably 3 stars at this point. But we had been forewarned by an earlier Unilocal review that the women’s washroom was to be avoided. One of us went as a scout to check that out and reported back that things had not improved. So, It’s down to just 2 stars. Also, no gastric problems, now that it’s the next day.
