Maybe it’s a moot point to write this review now, but I was a fan of this place, and they had some unusually interesting food specials that narrowly make me want to round up from 3.5 stars. Decent food from the several things I had tried, whether it was a burger, mac and cheese, and other food items. Unfortunately, I saw the dreaded ‘closed for business, thanks for your patronage’ sign a few nights ago, indicating they chose to close their doors at the end of business on 11⁄8. It’s sad, first Hoppin’ Hots closes down with no warning, and now Summerdale? What a shame. At least other places are still around that have good bar food, such as Little Bad Wolf and Lady Gregory’s(slightly prefer former, but Gregory’s isn’t bad either).

Summerdale is really delightful. The few times I’ve gone, the service has been excellent and the food and drinks have been great. I especially like the Rooster cocktail, and the black bean and barley burger was great as well. Given that this location has had such a hard time holding onto restaurants, I’m really happy to see that Summerdale has not only lasted, but that it’s lasted by being so great.

I am a big fan of their Saturday Special and Sunday Special. Saturday their special is Prime Rib, Wedge Salad and Twice Baked Potato. Totally worth $ 20! Sunday their special is Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes. Totally worth $ 12! These are two simple dishes but very delicious.

This place was phenomenal. The staff was very courteous. Our waiter was very nice and funny. The food I ordered was surf and turf. I enjoyed every bite of it. I will definitely come back to this spot. It might be my new hangout for my out of town friends.

At first, we loved Summerdale’s — new restaurant in the hood. The food was good, we loved the waiters(especially James) and the bartenders(especially the funky blonde chick) we made this our go-to Friday night place. Soon more of our friends wanted to come since we were such regulars there and we talked it up. So our regular group of 4 was sometimes 5,6,7 or 8. We started asking if we could make a reservation and they said no– and we started regularly getting seated in the back whenever our party was more than 4. We hated the back. It’s dark and dingy. You feel like an afterthought. You don’t feel like you’re in a fun restaurant– you feel like your at the kids table on the back porch at your grandma’s house. So one Friday we were delighted to find the tables next to bar in the front open– yay! Our party of 6 wasn’t going to have to be relegated to the back of the house. But, no, the new host(who is seriously the WORST host I’ve ever encountered, seriously THEWORST) said those tables were reserved and we had to sit in the back! Reserved? But you don’t take reservations. Well, guess what, all of a sudden they do! So fine, we sat in the back. The next week I called to reserve those tables up front on the side of the bar and got that snippy host on the line. He told me they were already reserved. Fine. We’ll be in the back AGAIN. We got there and all their tables were open and we watched from the back. Once a party of 2 was seated there I went and asked if they had reservations. No! They had just been walking by. Then and there we decided never to go there again and we haven’t. And won’t. Ever. A final note to this is, despite our urging them not to go, some other friends of our went there last Friday night. Only 4 of them were told they only had tables in the back(and, yes, that same awful host) even though the front tables were empty(«reserved») and, like any normal human, they didn’t want to sit back there and opted to go somewhere else(just a few doors away). One of them kept popping outside to look into Summerdale’s and you will never guess what… Those«reserved» tables were empty the entire time. Doesn’t make sense to me why they would want to drive away business… Especially from neighborhood regulars. But my money is on the problem being the host.(I’m guessing the owners don’t realize the negative impact this guy is having on their business– hopefully they will see this and fire him. If he goes– we might be willing to try it again.) I wish they would go back to the first host they had. He was awesome. So awesome.

Great food — great service — great prices. We had Burgers on a Wed. nite and it was Burger beer nite. A great price. One person had the best Turkey burger in the city — so fresh and juicy. One person had the beef burger with a fried egg and bacon — a great burger. Fresh handmade fries — so good. Onion rings are the best in Andersonville — a must order. A perfect American Foodie place.

I already liked Summerdale before I went again tonight for my wedding anniversary. Last time I was there, I had two drinks and the stroganoff– the food was super-solid and the drinks were… let us say, liberally appointed. But tonight– they went above and beyond. Server Max was clearly in the weeds, but you’d never have known it from the level of attention and easy, friendly demeanor he brought to our table. I asked him for a rec and he did not disappoint; FYI, the chicken pot pie IS worth the wait: humble, satisfying, savory and subtle. The bartender still apparently has the same blessedly-heavy hand with the drinks(her Manhattan ended us). Manager Rico went above and beyond on an unexpectedly busy night– we could see him seating people, running food and bar-backing and he STILL managed to warmly check in from time to time, making us feel welcome and special(we were just there for some good anniversary grub, not at all looking for special treatment– nonetheless, we got it). I think we’ve found our new favorite neighborgood haunt.

Plus side=friendly welcoming staff Down side= food and drinks Maybe I ordered the wrong thing(jerk chicken sandwich) but I can’t see where these raving reviews are coming from. The chicken was so overcooked that it wasn’t even edible. If the chicken had been cooked well the flavor still was lackluster. Unfortunately the best part of the meal was the fries and the fact that they are close to George’s ice cream shop.

We have been back to Summerdale several times this summer, and each time we love it more and more. Recently we have been for the Thursday slider special(2 for $ 5) and I got the beef and turkey sliders, both which were delicious. We also got the house made potato chips with sriracha dipping sauce which my boyfriend now craves endlessly! A couple of weeks ago I was craving a huge delicious burger, so I got the Santa Fe Turkey Burger and it is SO delicious! I have had endless experiences where turkey burgers are served to me RAW but this one was perfectly cooked and juicy. I loved the spicy pepper blend and the cheese oozing out all over the plate. The fries are also crispy and perfect. I’ve also tried the bf’s fish and chips(he is obsessed with all fish and chip dishes in the neighborhood) which were great. They are smaller, easier to eat and handle pieces of fish with a house made tartar sauce that is very fresh tasting. And of course the fries are great. I can’t wait to keep coming back here as they update the weekly specials and also I want to try the new brunch menu! You will see me on Taco Tuesday soon I am sure!

Wow, this place is incredible. My only regret about eating here is that I didn’t do it sooner. My boo and I were feeling in a comfort food sort of mood, so we started with two of the half-off appetizers(great special every Wednesday!), fried pickles and onion rings. Both were perfectly prepared and the dips paired so well with them. For entrees, my partner had the spicy chicken sandwich, which he loved, and I had the mac and cheese with tomatoes and jalapenos, which was very good. A lot of restaurants overdo it with salt on the mac and cheese front, but this was seasoned very well — tons of flavor but not overwhelmingly so. We both had about half our entrée portion for a leftover, which means the portions are very generous. Also felt the service was great, the ambiance super and we can’t wait to come back and try some of the cocktails. Definitely a great addition to the Clark Street stretch, it’s already become one of my new favorites in the ‘hood.

Service is great. Food was delicious. Drinks were refreshing. Dessert, unfortunately, was bad. Got a chocolate cream pie that tasted like it came from the frozen section at a grocery store. And for $ 6, huge disappointment. To be fair, it came from some nearby bakery, so the restaurant didn’t make it.

What a lovely little nested spot on Clark St. in Andersonville. It was our first visit here, despite the restaurant being open since October(our waiter informed us), but we’ll definitely be back. Funny service, stellar cocktails(and by ‘stellar,’ I mean ‘strong’) and comfort food to a T. I had the open-faced turkey sandwhich with mashed potatoes and gravy… god, it’s been AGES since I had one of those carb masterpieces. And it was delicious. We had a variety of entrees at the table — from the pot pie, to the turkey burger, the special of the day, and veggie enchiladas. All dishes came out tasty and hot. We also split the three dips and chips at the beginning. Great little addition to Andersonville. Check it out if you’re in town.

Becoming one of our favorite places in the neighborhood. Great ‘comfort food’. Been several times and every dish has been great. Wait staff is super friendly… no complaints. All of the apps are great and so far each entrée we have had has been excellent.

This place is literally adorable! I dined here in early January with some friends who wanted to check it out. Up until they asked me along, I hadn’t heard of Summerdale before. When you enter the door– you feel very welcome and relaxed. The staff are very friendly and the menu is not large, not small — but right sized for this restaurant. I look forward to coming back.

Summerdale has quickly become a favorite spot for me. Great service, and delicious food make for a good time. They have a $ 20 prime rib dinner on Saturday that is glorious. You get a wedge salad, prime rib, and a twice baked potato. Get there early for this special, they were out by 6:30 last week! Good thing my boyfriend and I enjoy a good early bird dinner as we’re 30 going on 90. I have yet to try the drinks at Summerdale, but am definitely coming for the Manhattan next time. Lastly, and best of all, they play 80’s jams which leave room for serenading your dining companions.

Mmm. Okay, let’s start with the pros. I really like the service, their waiters are great! Their ambiance is really nice too, they play really good music. As for appetizers I would recommend the spinach dip. Definitely made to order, and super fresh. It was delicious. As for the main courses, the fish and chips were mostly chips. There were three tiny pieces of over salted fish. I couldn’t even finish them because they were so salty. Then we had the turkey burger, I’ve had better. Kinda flavorless and the bun was not delicious, kinda made the burger dry. I see everyone gave this place high ratings, perhaps we just ordered the wrong things on the menu.

I stopped in here with a group of friends after finding out The Brixton had a 1.5 hour wait, and I’m really glad it worked out that way. We waited about 10 minutes for a table that could accommodate 6, but there was space at the bar with an attentive bartender so it went by quickly. Décor is focused on being casual and a neighborhood joint, which is charming. We had broccoli croquettes and polenta fries to start and both were delicious. I went with the grilled chicken sandwich, which was better than most other chicken sammies I’ve had. The fries were not good, small and crunchy, but everything else made up for it. Next time I’d just opt for another side. Consensus around the table was that all entrees were good: Beef Stroganoff, Chili, Open-Faced Turkey, and Pork Shoulder. Service was good, too. I think it’s the same owner as Ombra and Acre, but I like this place much better!

When I saw that this place opened in the neighborhood, I had to give it a try. We are always looking for moderately priced, casual places to grab a bite and Summerdale looked like it fit the bill perfectly. Plus, the cocktail menu looked like a nice bonus. We started out with a couple of manhattans and the wedge duo to share. The manhattan was tasty, just what I wanted. The wedge duo is exactly that, two little wedge salads, perfect for sharing. For the main course, we decided on the BBQ beef ribs and the pork shoulder. I also decided to go for round two on the cocktail and chose the swizzle. The drink was made very well but a little too sweet for my taste. My bf was more than happy to take it over for me, though, he loved it. All of the food we had was delicious, prepared very well and huge portions. We were even able to take some home to enjoy later. I love the atmosphere, it’s warm and inviting and the service was great. I’m glad to have Summerdale in the neighborhood.

A nice addition to the neighborhood for sure. I was a little hesitant with some of my past experiences with the other spots by the same owners. We came in on a Sunday night and there were a few tables already taken. We chose to sit at the bar to watch the end of the football game that was on the tv. The bartender was very nice and explained a few specials to us. We had the wings, 2 wedge salads and the charred bologna. All of which we found to be good. Service was good and they were happy to make a few changes for us which was appreciated. We will be back.
