One of the best Asian spots in edgewater. The lo mein and fried rice is my repeat order.

Summer is tricky to judge, but it is a nice Thai restaurant and worth trying if you want to eat out on a budget. What I like most about Summer is the ambience. Dimly lit by candle light, it is a quiet place to wind down with a bottle of wine(BYOB is a huge plus!). It is also conveniently located directly off the Granville Red Line Stop! Entrees range from $ 8 – 11 and the portions are a bit small(depending on what you get). To be fair, I think this is acceptable considering how inexpensive the meals are! In terms of tastiness, the meals are not that remarkable. I tried the red curry witch chicken on my first visit and was not pleased with how the curry sauce separated. At my second visit, I tried the ginger beef and was not«wowed.» The bottom line here is that Summer serves A-OK food! It is cheap and tastes good, but can feel a bit under portioned and will not be the best Thai meal you’ve ever had. I love having this place in the neighborhood and it’s a great restaurant to visit when watching your spending!

Had dinner here the other night and it was terrific. Friendly service, nice atmosphere. The most amazing cucumber salad(had to have been at least 2 whole cucumbers chopped up on a large plate with a pineapple-based sauce. Don’t skip this. Had the pork skewers and, while the pork was a little too fatty, the rice and the salad that came with this was superb. My dining companion had the crab rangoon which he raved about and also the fried rice. Great place. Don’t understand why anyone on here doesn’t like it.

I am confused by all the 4 and 5 star reviews. This place is probably the worst place I have eaten at during my 6 years in Chicago. The service for one isn’t good. We ran into this spot during a thunderstorm to avoid the crazy downpour and when we walked in the door the servers saw us but no acknowledgement. We stood there for about 5 minutes as one cleaned off a table and when she was done we assumed we could sit after she glanced at us as she walked by. After sitting we waited another 10 minutes for water and probably another 10 minutes to put our orders in. 25 mins just to put the order in… Okay now here is the kicker, the appetizers came out pretty quickly. I burned the top of my mouth on the egg rolls. The egg rolls were at best below avg. tasting(6 out of 10 stars at most) and that was the only thing we finished. Our main entrees were bad… Bad as in the opposite of good or as in equal to terrible. We left so much food left over for them to throw out. From tasting their food you can tell that they use really cheap ingredients but the price of the food is on the expensive side. It feels like a rip off when you receive your bill. As we were leaving, we talked about how bad it was and we all let our guard down and each broke open our fortune cookies. We read our fortunes and proceeded to start eating the fortune cookies. Then reality hit us that we were still in this bad restaurant because the fortune cookie were also BAD!!! It was old, stale and the taste was as if it was a cheap cookie. My fortune said something about continuing on your life’s path. I will continue on my life’s path on never returning here.

The best Thai Food ever!!! Me and my husband have traveled a lot and tried different Thai restaurants but nothing compares to Summer. Not even a 5 star Thai restaurant in Las Vegas. We always order the Pad Sew Eu which rocks every time.

Hands down, best crab rangoon I have ever had. $The rest of my meal was delicious as well, I suggest getting a side of rice instead of paying a dollar extra for steamed noodles. I was a little disappointed in them, they were wide and slightly overcooked. Still good though, overall I will be returning for another meal soon.

we live next to summer and we love there food. I have had everything on the menu and my favorite is the green curry. Its a little spicy but taste fantastic. They are always open and they have fast service. I recommend this place if you want good chines food and a reasonable price. It is small inside but has a great design.

A little on the pricy side, but good food close to home and right off the train stop. Décor and vibe are comfortable — Low lit and minimalist. Good portion sizes and friendly staff keep me coming back.

I like this place. I ordered Bangkok chowfun and my bf ordered the golden curry noodle thingy. Both are pretty good. The food is definitely very flavorful. Actually a bit too flavorful for me but my bf liked it. The portion is relatively small, which is perfect for us. I like the chill ambience too. And the resteraunt is close to El station, so pretty convenient, but you’ll experience the train driving by coz it’s so close.

I love this place. Eat there often and order delivery often. My favorites are: appetizers — Bok Choy, Chive Dumplings; Entrees — Cashew Duck, Spicy Mango Shrimp, Scallop Dynamite and much more. You must try this place.

Very good and fast service. We had the cashew duck and beef with oyster sauce which were excellent! Also the crab Rangoon was very tasty. However, the Bangkok street calamari is not deep fried and the texture was a little much. Not bad flavor, but too much like actually gnawing away at an octopus for my taste — so if that’s your thing — go for it!

My friend and I ordered food from here today. We were really in the mood for thai curry so she order red curry and I ordered Panang curry. First, when I opened the bag at home I was disappointed at the quantity. The container was half empty, the curry was watery, there was barely any curry in it and it was obviously really old bc the substances used to make the curry was separated. It was literally disgusting. I can’t even begin to explain how bad the white rice was. Sooo disappointed.

I love this place for a casual dinner or to take advantage of their lunch specials(7.75 for an appetizer, soup or salad, and an entrée). Good selection of appetizers and a diverse menu for vegetarians and omnivores alike. Loyola students get 10% off with an id only when paying with cash, so remember to stop by the ATM on your way. I recommend the honey crispy tofu and pad woonsen.

My son wanted a smoothie so we entered this place as we walked by. Ordered a mango smoothie and it tasted completely watery. Since they have a policy of not accepting credit cards unless you order at least $ 10 worth of food and I had no cash, I was forced to order something else, so I ordered the Buddy Drunk, and this was bland, tasteless and the beef had no flavor. Ended up paying $ 15 bucks for no good.

I love this place! It’s conveniently located right next to the redline(though that does mean you can hear the train when it goes by… get over it.). Décor is very modern. I’ve had the Garlic Noodle and Udon Soup, both are really tasty. But my FAVORITE thing at this restaurant are their smoothies. The fruit always tastes fresh and they actually come with tapioca, unlike Sushi Thai just down the street. If it’s a choice between the two, Summer’s smoothies are way better and they’re cheaper too. I’m giving the place 4 stars because of the $ 10 card minimum… I brought $ 5 to get a smoothie once and was turned away. –_–

It has been quite some time since I was here but the food has not changed. The crab ragoon are really good, on par with their sister shop. To me, that is saying something’, quite a compliment! I also tried the popeye special, spinach goya, they were delicious. After that, well, things went blah. Fried rice had no taste and pad thai was similar. This is reminiscent of previous experiences here. I suppose my advice would be– stick with the appetizers!

This is a tough one. Their crab Rangoon and golden sacks, or whatever they call them, were very good. On the other hand, the entrees were okay to bad. I was definitely not a fan of my Popeye entrée and my boyfriend’s drunken noodles were nothing special. The waitress didn’t bother to ask about our food so I ended up just not eating most of mine. By the way, despite the cute interior, this place is literally sharing a wall with the redline so don’t expect a quiet date. You will hear and feel the rumble of the train.

We were a party of 10 here on a Saturday night, and we made up the majority of patrons in this restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and prompt with service. I liked the Fried Golden Pouches appetizer, and the Buddy Drunk noodles were fine. The dessert on the house was a nice touch, although we were more happy that this place was BYOB. FYI, the restaurant vibrates when the train goes by.

Upon arriving at M. Henrietta and realizing it’s closed on Mondays, our choices were either Ann Sathers(if u read my review, u know my reaction) or keep walking. So, we kept walking… Just before the Grandville stop, we saw a menu on the window for Summer. $ 7.95 Lunch Special?! ok, cool… let’s try it! It’s hard to mess up Thai food. you choose from: sour or salad & small portion appetizer and an entrée your appetizer and salad come out in the cutest little plate.(i was honestly thinking about taking it… hahaha) and the way they wrap their crab rangoon just shows how muchattention they pay to small details. i had the beef pad see ew, but i couldn’t get over my bf’s orange chicken. if you’re expecting the greasy heavy generic food court specialty, this is not the place for you… their chicken was light and crispy and exploding with fresh orange flavor! my thai coffee was perfect, just the right amount of sweet and strong. and our waters were never more than 1⁄3 empty. just when we thought the place couldn’t be any cuter, our very attentive server comes out with tiny little cupcakes for dessert. are you sure you’re a hole in the wall under the el?! We skipped out of here with happy tummies. I think we’ve found our go-to neighborhood Thai spot!
