I just finished eating my afternoon snack the«blueberry chia pecan parfait» and it was so good. I need to compliment this place because every time I’ve purchased a pre-made meal or snack from here, I’ve enjoyed it! I feel good after eating these meals as well– never too full and always satisfied. They do a good job at packaging up unique things. Worth a shot for anyone who cares about what they put in their mouth :)

I stopped in to check it out. Person from the counter came over and started to explain the sizes and color coding of containers(which are microwaveable, reusable and BPA-free). Above the area where the food is, there are signs for breakfast, lunch dinner, etc. Their take home menu says that their salmon«is free of antibiotics and preservatives» and their«ground beef is 100% grass-fed, pasture raised, and free of hormones and antibiotics.» They also offer gluten-free and vegan choices. I tired the Naked Chicken with Snap Pea and Roasted Cauliflower, and Silken Chocolate«Mousse»(with orange zest). I liked both and look forward to going back and trying something different. Hopefully they will open a store on the northside of Chicago.

I’d go back in a snap. But seriously, I’ve gone back every other day since I discovered snap kitchen just a few short weeks ago. After seeing the little green balls pop up seemingly all over the city, I wasn’t sure what to expect. 4 weeks ago I would’ve said«prepared pre-packaged foods aren’t my thing.» Because that sounds lazy, and not fresh, and maybe even gross. But, snap kitchen totally proves that wrong. After a friend tried it out and sold me on testing it, I’m so hooked. Here’s why: — the food is GOOD. Whoever is designing the recipes creates such a wide variety of flavors, ensuring the consumers don’t get bored with the options — the portions are big! I was shocked to experience just how much food makes up a full day of eating, even when you pick size small meals — the employees are so friendly and helpful. My first time in, a person walked me through the whole process of creating two days worth of meals, and reviewed my picks to ensure I got well balanced choices. — it’s really not that expensive! I was terrified of how much it would cost, but when I consider how much I spend on a daily or weekly basis with all of my purchased lunches, whole foods salad bar trips, etc, this is no more expensive than my average days worth of food. If you want to be eating real food, with ingredients you can pronounce, AND you don’t want to cook or portion it out yourself, you should probably stop reading Unilocal reviews and head to snap kitchen. Now.

This place is an interesting concept — prepackaged meals that are«healthy.» I’ve eaten here a few times and I’ve enjoyed my food each time. There are a few negatives, however. The first time I ate here I got a salad which — once I later read the nutrition facts — wasn’t actually healthy at all. They also have a pretty small selection, so I have walked in and walked out because nothing there looked good. Lastly, you’re going to pay a premium for the amount of food you get. Yeah, it’s pretty good, but spending $ 12 and still being hungry isn’t ideal. The food is solid and this is extremely convenient though, so I’ll be back.

If Whole Foods and Weight Watchers had a baby, it would be named Snap Kitchen. They have healthy meals in BPA free containers that allow you to throw them right in the microwave. Their nutrition labels tell you exactly what ingredients they used, how many calories are in it and how long it needs to be microwaved. We tried the chimichurri chicken and the sausage spiral pasta. The chimichurri chicken was packed with 44g of protein and 10g of carbs. Pretty good nutritional ratio. Only reason I took off a star is because of the price. Snap portions are properly measured to prevent overeating. But the food to price ratio doesn’t quite balance out.

Stopped by today to hopefully pick up a meal but the only thing vegetarian was a cheese & spinach enchilada, which I didn’t even ask was gluten-free or not. They did have some nice drinks and a small selection of snacks — but hope they add more variety soon!

I only got Kale crackers here(which were pretty good, healthy tasting) so I feel like I can’t be a good judge of Snap Kitchen yet. Like many people have mentioned here though, this is a really cool concept! I’m huge on eating healthy and seeing what this place has to offer was already exciting in itself. My only complaint is that this place is super pricey and I feel like that just discourages healthy eating altogether.

We’ve seen the sign and knew that Snap was coming soon but we didn’t know what it was. It’s bright green sign somehow triggered the association that it would be fresh and health conscious. Today we forgot our protein drink for after our Sunday work-out and, on a whim, we decided to detour to Snap Kitchen on our way to the grocery store. Inside were about four cheerful and eager employees. One of them excitedly told us how this particular Snap Kitchen has been in the works for five years. They needed time to find local sources that were as GMO free as possible. WOW. We were sold. I picked out four items: Curried Chicken Salad, Chia & Date Pudding, Snap War Bar, Devily Eggs for $ 13(the bar was given to us for free). The wall of food was divided by size and color coded: snacks and meals of various portions. I paid with my credit card at the register and signed up for their rewards program. Next, we got spoons and napkins from a station that also housed condiments and microwaves and then we sat down at the front window. All of our food was scrumptious! The Curried Chicken Salad was our favorite. It had the savory and sweet mix that is customary in curry and the chicken was cut up extra small. We were surprised that we liked the Chia & Date Pudding as much as we did. It had delicious flavor and a lumpy, slimy texture. The Devily Eggs were made with a hummus middle instead of the typical yellow/mayo stuff. It was a good change that I understood and accepted. Lastly, the Snap War Bar was good. It smelled kind of like carrot cake or banana bread. The texture was a lot like a soft, dense bread. It had all of these healthy ingredients in it. We were a little disappointed that there wasn’t tap water available(only bottled for sale) and that they don’t recycle. We look forward to the freshly pressed juices that are coming soon. We are so excited about this food option that we plan to grab a quick dinner to-go on our way home from work later this week!

Snap Kitchen is a company that is based out of Austin Texas, I am so glad they now have an Old Town location. This is a healthy alternative to the usual convenience food you pick up at the store. The meals are quick and easy, just heat in the microwave! It’s amazing for prepared food, the items I tasted were very good, I didn’t have to doctor them up with mass quantities of different seasonings, I would actually purchase these entrees again. In addition, to making food that tastes good, they are healthy and low in calories, that’s amazing! There is only one downfall Snap Kitchen can be pretty pricey, but that could be because all containers are BPA-free and each is color coordinated per size, along with fresh, local, healthy ingredients. There are options for people who are gluten-free, non-dairy, Vegan, etc… The items I have had and enjoyed were: Turkey Bolognese, Chicken and Butternut Squash, Snap Caesar Salad with Chicken, and Banana Nut Pancakes which were great! Snap Kitchen has a meal program were customers commit to daily healthy eating program for as little as 3 days, or 21 days. Customers plan out and pre-order their meals and snacks and pick up their meals every three days. The other element that Snap Kitchen has going for them is their staff, they are extremely outgoing individuals. They warmly greet customers as they enter the store and are very knowledgeable about all the foods sold. Always patient and polite to every customer, the staff patiently answers question, after question. In addition, the sales staff has kept the store immaculate. There is a wall of microwaves so customers may choose to eat at Snap Kitchen, the staff cleans up immediately, it is spotless. Since, this store has just opened, I am giving Snap Kitchen 4.5 — 5 stars. The Service and food is greet and is 5 stars, but the price is high for the portions. I will by all means be return and recommend it to other if they are in the market for freshly prepared food.
