Great place for late Chinese before 2am. I use to come here for 554 now I’m finding myself ordering the ham fried rice. I love the tiny cubed ham bits.

Came here today to try the BBQ pork with a fried egg over rice. Service and food were great. Very old school place. Also ordered the shrimp wonton soup with noodles and the vegetarian delight. The veg delight was better than I expected, with a vast array of veggies and mushrooms in a delicious brown sauce. Bill was only 20 bucks for a big lunch. Will definitely be back!

I have been coming here for over 6 years now. At least twice a month. Additionally I eat hot pot once a week, and I have eaten at over a dozen chinese resturaunts in China town. So I have delicious experiences to compare. What I can say is the prices are great. Their soups are simple yet tasty. Soups such as noodles with bbq pork, noodles with duck, and so on. Their fried rices are pretty good with decent meat quantities and flavor. But the bbq pork, duck, and other meats by the lb are such a great value its cheaper to buy here than in a grocery at times. The only negative i will say is once in awhile the food is so so. Say 1 in 10 trips it’s not up to par. I accept it because it’s China town, its cheap, and people do have bad days. But overall this is my spot, you can’t beat the price and taste combo that Seven Treasures offers.

Very good food and cheap. The noodle soup is Hong Kong style soup. If you want a good bowl of noodle soup, this is the place.

Going to UIC for college, ‘Ghetto Treasures’ was one of our favorite late night spots. We lovingly called it with this name that I’m sure was passed down through many generations. Seven Treasures is very bare bones, a decently sized spot, huge menu with good prices, touch and go service that is sometimes super friendly and other times you nearly have your food thrown at you. It’s open super late into the night and if you rolled in after the club on the weekend, you were bound to see a friend or two at another table. Ah, memories. Back in my day, 554 was the main attraction. Nearly everyone would get this bbq pork over rice with egg dish. Gotta say, it still holds up in present times. I’m also a typical white girl so I love their sweet & sour chicken and just about everything else on the menu. I am now very old and when I venture to Old Chinatown it’s at a proper dining time. It’s still the grimey spot it’s always been filled with great food, big portions and low prices. Keep on, keepin’ on, Ghetto.

This place needs food and service improvement especially for its late night(closes around 2:30 am). Their food was so bland and dry that it didn’t even deserve any photos for me to take. One of my favorite things to eat is crispy pork, and this place simply failed to make it crispy or good.

Yes, this place is a dive, but if you want the best wonton noodle soup around, this place is a must in Chinatown! I always get the shrimp wonton noodle soup with BBQ pork. No other restaurant around here comes close; the only time I’ve had similar shrimp wonton noodle soup was in Hong Kong. I’m a creature of habit and always order their beef and Chinese broccoli with chow fun noodles too; super yummy with extra crispy noodles! I’ve been coming here since the 80’s and I feel like I’m in a time warp here, looks like the same décor, same waiters and always pray I don’t need use their bathroom haha! Now my kids insist on coming here even with all the newer, «fancier» restaurants in Chinatown square!

Alright fam, real talk. Wtf are y’all doing ordering anything other than 554 here and then giving it a low rating? This place is for 554. It’s cheap. It’s good. It’s supposed to be good ol’ dirty af Chinese food. Get your pretentious«I ate at a Michelin star restaurant so I can’t enjoy McDonald’s» attitude outta here.

These people charge based on table. We only had 4 people in our party and was seated at a table for 6. This caused them to charge gratuity. The food was neither good nor bad. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Food was delicious! I ordered the Braised Noodles with Roasted Duck and my boyfriend got the Congee. The fruit drinks with milk are also great. We were not sure what to expect and were not disappointed with this restaurant. Would definitely recommend as a place to try when in Chicago Chinatown

***Restaurant is closed for unsanitary conditions*** Good inexpensive food. The food is prepared quickly but service is terrible. The décor is very old and dirty. Poor management! I tried going there for lunch today but it was closed.

Great place to come with a big group of people since they have lots of tables. The service is quick and the food is delicious. They give you hot tea when you are seated. There are tons of options on the menu which makes it hard to choose sometimes. The chow fun and salt and pepper pork or squid are some of my favorites. The noodle soups are also good. The street parking is not free until 9P and they do ticket heavily!

This place was great! My husband and I had a sudden late night craving for some authentic Chinese eats, and with the help of my fellow Unilocalers we stumbled upon this gem. We went with the BBQ pork fried egg over rice dish and it was stellar the fried egg was fried to perfection and the pork was tender and flavorful. We also had a couple egg rolls which were pretty standard but still tasty nonetheless, followed by the sweet and sour shrimp. The shrimp was a little heavy on the batter but still a good portion and sauce was on point. The green tea that comes complimentary with your meal was a nice surprise and great as far as green tea goes. The best part about this place has to be the prices we had an appetizer two entrees and also a Chinese fried bread stick that I almost forgot about which is surprising because it was so freaking good! In total our bill was only $ 22, amazing!

My first experience was fairly good. They are well known for their BBQ pork, and I can see why so many people have such rave reviews about it. However, my second experience was immensely frustrating. We were there on a weekday so it was not very crowded. I asked for a whole duck, which is $ 17.00 w/o tax. The lady who cut up the duck for me proceeded to go through all of her ducks in the window, and find the smallest one to give to me. What a joke! I could literally see her taking down the ducks and measuring out their sizes. The duck she gave me had next to no meat. Normally a duck fills the entire styrofoam container standardly used at most Chinese BBQ places. Not the case here! At most ¾ of the container was full. To make matters worst, the skin on the duck was not crispy and parts of it did not taste as fresh as it should. I am so disgusted with this place. Maybe if you speak Chinese or are older they will not pull this stunt on you. As for me, my verdict is that I am NEVERCOMINGBACKHEREAGAIN.

If you’re looking for authentic Chinese, this is your place! Located in the heart of china town, you are sure to love it. It was packed with locals, which is always a good sign. Try the chicken chow mein. Their egg rolls and spring rolls are delicious. They serve gracious portions, and the prices are very reasonable. They offer a large selection of foods, so there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss out on this gem! I gave it 4 stars because there was a live fly in the sugar shaker. This would probably turn a lot of people off, but we ate there anyways.

Whole BBQ duck for $ 17! I love the cuttlefish and preserved vegetables. Perfectly sour. The Papaya smoothie with tapioca pearls is a wonderful transition from such a heavy meal, and if it weren’t for the complimentary green tea I’d be out before my meal was halfway done due to the overwhelmingly tired feeling I get from this great stuff. Sitting in my car now without the will to drive home. I need to pass out for about thirty minutes just to muster enough strength to drive back to the north Chicago burbs. That’s right, I drove thirty miles just for this meal.

I’ve only heard of the 554 dish more recently, but now I realize how popular it is! It’s even on urbandictionary! After a late night and craving Chinese food, I tried out the 554. It was amazing. So amazing that I got another order because I thought it would make the most amazing breakfast. I have to admit, it’s so much better after a night of drinking than the morning after, but still… it’s pretty legit. If you’re a self-proclaimed foodie in Chicago, you should definitely give it a try!

Everytime we come here they are consistent. Excellent food, good service… testament to their restaurant is most customers are from there ethnic background. Enjoyed my food

This place is where you wanna go for some super late night eats that you will probably regret the next day but is so worth it while you’re eating it. Even better if you’re probably intoxicated and anticipate a lovely hang over the next morning. I didn’t know that Chicago-ans like to get their Chinese food fix for late night booze food. In California, it’s either Mexican food or phở. But this place hit the spot with some shrimp fried rice, wonton noodle soup, and a plate of garlic chinese broccoli. Can’t believe how cheap the dishes are! Can’t wait for my next late night shenanigans in the city so that we can indulge in some of the affordable late night eats.

I used to come here waaaay back in the day(2007 and prior with car forum friends). I ordered Spiced Salt + Pepper Prawns, Duck with Mixed Veggies, Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, and Milk Tea with boba. The nice guy who took my order asked if I wanted the prawns de-headed and de-shelled; I told him I was fine with them as-is(I’m white, but not THAT white [to the dismay of my family who is a bit horrified at some of the things I’ll eat]). Like another reviewer said, once they’re fried and crispy, you can eat the whole thing — head, shell, tail. no biggie. The portion size was generous, they were deliciously hot and seasoned well, and I ate about half of the to-go container on the way home! The Duck and Veggies were just OK. I do love duck and miss it, but the good duck meat to unsavory pieces(liver? some type of innards.) ratio was really off. The veggies were good(love the big mushrooms!) but obviously sitting in sauce a while so they were quite mushy. The Chinese Broccoli was just OK — a bit watery, so the sauce was diluted, and there were fewer leafy pieces than stems. The portion size was good. So, um, YAY for fiber! In all, it was an OK option, but the prawns were definitely the star! I’ll be back for them.
