After my long time hairdresser moved out of state I had to find someone new to cut my very long hair. I came to Sejour based on Unilocal reviews, and walked away really disappointed after spending $$$. I’ve waited a week to write this review to see if I could get used to it, and instead I am just disappointed every time I look in the mirror. I made the appt for partial highlights and a haircut. I wanted natural looking highlights to hide with the occasional premature grays, and instead walked out with the entire top of the front of my hair a lighter shade than the rest of my brunette color and nearly in tears. The brassiness is finally toning down a week later. The cut is dull and really doesn’t do anything to flatter me, with the length, or the shape. I spent $$$ and now feel like I just have to wait for it to grow out to go somewhere else to find someone to fix it.

I wish I could give this place a zillion stars. I have psoriasis on my scalp; it’s pretty embarrassing to say the least! Wintre, who has been my stylist for a couple years doesn’t bat an eye. She makes me feel like it’s something everyone has.
The staff is always extremely nice and accommodating. The reason I go and send friends to go there is because of Wintre.
She is easy to talk to, talks about her life and remembers previous conversations we have had in the past. Most importantly, she does so not in a BS way; she’s very genuine.
On top of all of that, she makes my thin flat hair look awesome! Love her!

Wintre has been helping me manage my thick, coarse hair as I’ve been trying to grow it long. She keeps it well maintained with layers and blends my growing-​out-​bangs beautifully into the layers so that the much-​feared awkward stage doesn’t exist. The lowlights are perfect for fall/​winter. I also got a botanical treatment and dry remedy treatment in preparation for winter and I felt so pampered. Love love love.

I have been going to Wintre since 2005, and she has never disappointed. She has given me short hair cuts, which were clean and classy. And when I was over short, she helped me to grow it out to mid-​back length (despite her warning that it would look stringy– which it did and I later listened to her and now keep it a little shorter so I don’t look like a skanky bleached blond). I see her for many reasons, including her superior skill, because she keeps up with what is in style in hair, and because she is frank about what can be suitably achieved in one sitting. I travel two hours now to see her every other month (totally worth the time) and I would never let anyone else touch my hair!

I called around the area to see if anyone did nail art and saw a review here on Unilocal about Maria doing nail art. I showed her what I wanted and she delivered. I left with a beautiful mani pedi with daisies. Thank you Maria.

I came to Chicago on a visit for a wedding back home and I knew I needed a haircut. I put it off for an extra 2 weeks as I knew I was going to try and get a cut by Wintre at Sejour.
I have thick (super thick), coarse, and dry hair and no one cuts my hair like Wintre. She knows how to go with the natural flow of my hair type and I never have any complaints! Now that I have been going to see her for so long I can just sit in her chair and say «Do what you like» and give her that artistic freedom. I totally trust in her everytime and wish I could get all my cuts by her!
As for the salon. It was spacious, updated, and a nice relaxing environment! Plus, non-​metered street parking out front!

Just hosted a bachelorette party here this past weekend and Rachel was great to work with! Everyone had a blast and the salon was SUPER accommodating. Many of my friends who came want to come back and have their hair done! Thanks to Rachel and her team for helping throw an unforgettable night for my good friend! :)

I have seen Ann several times since my first visit and I’m still very satisfied! I’ve moved from the ‘hood but still plan to continue to see her.

Winter was great! Everyone there is so nice and welcoming. I took my mom there for an early Mother’s Day surprise. Without giving too much detail, Winter was able to produce a style that is just beautiful! I’m very happy with the results and will return soon!

This place has received great reviews so I decided to check it out after moving to North Center. The staff are very friendly and the salon has a nice atmosphere. Sadly, I went yesterday for a haircut and it’s bad. So bad I need to get it corrected elsewhere. The stylist (not Amanda) seemed inexperienced. Again, they’re very friendly but I won’t be going back (at least not for hair services).

I have been so reluctant to change beauticians, and I have not been happy with my current one and have just been dragging my feet. Going somewhere new and developing that relationship is stressful to me, and that is the last thing that I need.
Wow, was I impressed, Amanda was so easy to talk to, she listened to what I wanted and delivered above and beyond my expectations, an the cut, curl and style. My hair has been damaged from over processing and coloring my stubborn gray. She also recommended some new hair products that I am loving.
I left Sejour thinking why did I wait so long, and I have found my new salon, yeepee!!!

I had a GREAT experience at Sejour; Amanda gave me a wonderful haircut and the best blow-​out ever. I have curly-​crazy hair, and she smoothed it out so I walked out feeling like a movie star.
The atmosphere in the salon was warm and welcoming, and felt supremely comfortable and relaxed.
I will DEFINITELY go again… I’ve found my new salon!

I made the decision (in less than a day) to cut my long hair off & forced myself into Sejour (recommended by a friend) before I could change my mind. Amanda was friendly, knowledgeable & gave me one of my most favorite hair cuts of all time… Yes, of ALL time! Although I nearly had a coronary when I first saw the short length (shoulder length, which is what I asked for), Amanda reassured me I would love it once she was finished. Obviously by the way this review is going, she was right; I loved it! I’ve found my new stylist & salon!

I’m giving Sejour an «A” — for «awesome» and «Amanda» who took fantastic care of me during my visit.
So, look– my hands and feet are always a mess. I have psoriasis that affects all of my nails and I’m always way too embarrassed to get them done on a regular basis. But it was the end of my maternity leave and pregnancy and postpartum hormones made my situation worse than usual and I needed to get myself taken care of before I went back to work.
I can’t say enough about Amanda. She was awesome, completely nonjudgmental and helped me laugh about the situation which is not something I’ve been able to find at any other salon or spa. I felt so comfortable and taken care of, and my nails looked fantastic when she was finished.
Then she cut my hair and gave me a great style that’s easy to manage with a newborn and a full-​time job.
The space itself is relaxing and clean– not too big and not too small– great amenities and an easy location to get to and park. All of the other ladies there working were personable and fun too.
I am so glad I found Sejour and Amanda. I will definitely be back!

Wish it were a bit closer to the homestead, I’d be up in there gettin’ my digits done errrryday.
It’s high end without the pretension. Uberprofessional without being stuffy. And relaxing to the max.
Still, as it goes, I’m a mani and pedi DIY’er for the most part. Love switching up my colors constantly so a ‘make my polish last’ mantra is not really up my alley. Pricier mani and pedi combos have a tendency, at times, to be lost on me. Fortunately, Sejour seems to always have a Unilocal deal or special to be found. Love getting the goods at a discount. Well-​polished and budget-​friendly? That’s a hand and foot job I can get down with.
Service has always been spot on — the owner is a doll — and the technicians pay fabulous attention to every meticulous detail. Score!
When the time calls for a fabulous pedicure and a precise manicure to go with it, Sejour is the hot spot.

I bought the Hot on Unilocal deal for a spa mani/​pedi at Sejour back in November and hoarded it for months. I knew that there would be some point in time I’d really need to redeem it.
My time came before a week-​long Jamaican vacation.
Tucked away on Irving Park (easy street parking right on IP or around the corner on any of the side streets), it’s a heavenly oasis for those with some seriously jacked up cuticles. Much like me.
See, for me winter is tough and this winter was particularly tough. Grooming fell to the wayside due to a nasty bout of mono that put me under for a solid two months. I could barely get out of bed let alone get my bootie to a nail studio. So when I had a pending vacation, I thought it would be the perfect time to utilize my nifty little Hot on Unilocal deal and give my sad fingers and toes some much needed TLC.
Sam, resident manicurist at Sejour is nothing short of amazing. She’s on the quiet side (fine by me), but she truly pampers her clients and gives them arguably the best nail care in the city. I picked out my nail polish color and sunk down into the super comfy massage chair and let Sam go to town on my toes. She filed, snipped, scrubbed and buffed my feet to perfection. It was hard to believe they were the same scraggly toesies that came in the door!
My manicure was incredible, too. Honestly, my cuticles never looked better (and believe me, they were, um, ragged) and she did an incredible job shaping my nails to give them a modern, yet classic look. Love.
I HIGHLY recommend Sejour. Why do we even bother with these cheapie nail studios when places like Sejour exist?
