Sandip Burman School of Music

I signed up for an introduction to Sitar class for $ 25. The coordinator, John, was very helpful in answering my questions and scheduling a convenient time for the first lesson. He responded very quickly to my emails and we chatted on the phone as well.
When I arrived at my lesson, I was impressed to meet Sandip. He is serious about music and has high expectations from his students. He was friendly and made we feel welcome with him and the other students present. He gave me a sitar to play. I was taught a basic scale to practice. Having played guitar I was surprised by the finger callouses needed for Sitar. It is certainly quite a challenge. I am sure with time it will be easier as the callouses develop.
At the end of the lesson the group played a familiar Beatles tune that sounded amazing. It was quite inspiring and made me want to continue with this special sounding instrument!
