Sometimes I can’t tell the difference if a person is bitch(female version of an asshole) or an asshole(male version of a bitch) or if they are just socially awkward. I sat at the bar for lunch today and was served by an incredibly friendly and professional gentleman — he was short and had black spiky hair. He seemed to be doing 99% of the work — serving guests, stocking the bar, cleaning up etc. The lady behind the bar was either a complete bitch or completely socially awkward. She had a scowl on her face the entire time and said nothing to me when she dropped off bread or my doggy bag. I felt like she was thinking. «I actually have to work for a living?» For a high end steakhouse, I’d figure they’d train her properly. Ruth? Chris? What do you think? Anyway, the food was excellent as usual but I do have higher expectations for service for a $$$ restaurant.

Our first time here for my fiancé’s birthday and it was a great choice. We were seated at the time of our reservations. Our waiter was super nice. Steak and stuffed chicken were amazing! Way better than I even expected! Only thing is it was pretty pricy. $ 150 for a party of two but I guess you get what you pay for and we got pretty great food and service so no complaints over here! :)

Came in earlier then normal to meet a friend. Sitting at the bar having a soda. The bartender is extremely friendly and so are the rest of the staff. This is not a restaurant that I was once a fan of. However I know a person that loves this place and took me for dinner a few times. I must admit even though this place is a big chain the food is good. Looking forward to a nice stk dinner. The décor is a bit outdated but like I said the staff is nice and the food is good. Great place for a decent STK at fairly reasonable price.

I’ve been hearing about this place for years. Finally decided to give it a try on NYE. The food was good. Customer service was ok. Nothing that goes above and beyond. It was definitely packed on NYE but they were pretty much on time with our reservations which was great. Customer service was just ok when checking in, nothing special. We sat upstairs which I liked, away from the doors and away from all of the hustle and bustle. I can’t remember our waitresses name. She was just ok with the customer service and taking our order. She did check on us one time to ask how our food was, I told her my steak was done too well and her response was«Just move it around on the plate and it will cook more» so I don’t think she was paying attention nor do I think that was a good way to handle the situation if she did think that it was under cooked but it wasn’t a big deal to me since we ordered the nye special anyway so I didn’t say anything. When we were done eating my boyfriend asked if he can order another dessert since he didn’t want the one that came with the special so she said she would bring out a list of the desserts. Welp, she came back and asked if he decided yet even though she never came back with a dessert menu. I thought the evening was entertaining and pretty funny but we were just having a good time. In the end, a man stopped by to pack up our leftovers and we left. I’d probably go back if we just want a quick bite to eat but I more than likely wouldn’t make a reservation or make any special plans for it. What I do like about this place is the diversity and it’s just a busy, unstuffy restaurant. Like I said they don’t go above and beyond but it is still a nice place. Oh and the seating is pretty comfortable compared to other restaurants in the area.

Amazing is the best word to describe the food, the service, the ambience… everything! Our server was attentive and made us feel like true guests. I have the Ruth’s Classic combo with the walnut/Apple/blue cheese salad, filet and shrimp, they accidentally gave me lobster mac & cheese(no complaints there!), and the turtle cheesecake for dessert. The only slightly negative thing was the cheesecake was average, but how can anyone complain about cheesecake, right?! I can’t wait to come back!

My family and I had such a good experience here at restaurant week last year, we decided to do it all again. As with last year this is a great deal, great food and great experience to kick off restaurant week Chicago. My family decided that this will be an annual lunch for us to start restaurant week. Our waiter this time was Jon(without an H) and sadly, I’m not sure if it’s the same server from last year. But this year the service was just as good, and Jon was attentive, but not overbearing. Portions were perfect again, and a good amount of food for lunch. The bread pudding was something we all remembered as amazing, and it did not disappoint this year as well. Two years in a row and Ruth’s Chris has delivered on restaurant week. Can’t wait to come back for dinners and events during the year.

Quality ingredients with excellent value and portion for 2016 Restaurant Week. I’m ecstatic about my breakfast and lunch brown bag. STEAKHOUSEHOUSESALAD — how silly of me to think there is steak in the salad. I should have chosen Caesar. Since I need to meet my veggie requirement, I ate the salad with my steak chunks. 16 oz NEWYORKSTRIP — impressed that it was still sizzling when placed on table. See video. Perfectly done as requested. Good seasoning. SWEETPOTATOCASSEROLE — Delicioso. Addictive. Pecan bits is a nice touch. Just right sweetness. BREADPUDDINGWITHRAISIN — a perfectly sweet strawberry. Excellent portion to finished off gluttony. LOL SERVICE — staff works as a team. Water is always refilled at half a glass. Crumbs scraped off from white tablecloth before dessert is served. Automatic brown bag for you. VENUE — nice spacing. Clean. Comfy booths. Organized.

We had a wonderful experience for my wife’s 33rd birthday. Our 40 oz porter house steak was cooked to perfection. Our waiter Martini was awesome, Thank you for the great service sir. Accompanied with our porter house steak was delicious garlic mash potatoes, two succulent lobster tails and asparagus… Team Solomon are all smiles over here. Thanks Ruth’s Chris for a great experience.

Not a big restaurant to seat an entire family, but one of my top three steaks in Chicago! The steak is phenomenal and it slices like butter. Been here dozens of times and will definitely continue to go here.

Came here New Year’s Eve for dinner with my wife and we were so excited but we’re pretty disappointed with our experience. We walked in and there were 5 hostesses standing there at the desk and none of them greeted us, made eye contact, or even looked at us we were standing right in front of them! Almost a minute hits and one of them finally said«Hi» in the most awkward way. I was like umm ok I have a reservation at 5p. Seated us upstairs which was nice. Placed our orders got our drinks. Waiter said he’ll bring us bread right away. Calamari app came and it was room temp. Everywhere where I’ve ordered calamari it has come out hot straight out the fryer but not here it was room temp! Wtf! Next to us there were 3 couples at a table that were seated and bread was brought out to them right away. Hello? Where’s our bread we got there 20 min prior to them! I had to remind the waiter to get our bread. Steak came out and my wife ordered medium and the steak was obviously rare even the waiter was surprised it was rare so he brought it back. Ordered the potatoes Au gratin those were nothing special a bit dry actually. I got surf n turf the lobster tails were amazing but my steak was average. All in all service needs to be better here I get better service at Cheesecake Factory not sure if I’d come back. Employees don’t seem to like working there. Chicago Cut has phenomenal service Ruth’s Chris needs to dine there and take some notes!!!

We frequent this location on a regular basis because we live within walking distance but a few nights ago we had dinner at the bar. The food was fairly decent, but the service was absolutely poor. The bartenders appeared to be much more interested in conversing amongst themselves than taking care of the patrons at the bar. It took forever to get our first drink, it took forever for the bartender to come back to take our food order, and it took quite a while for the food to be delivered. We had to ask for condiments, we had to ask for water, and we asked for more bread which never came. The management really has to keep an eye on the bartenders, especially considering the restaurant’s reputation.

For holidays and birthdays my husband splurge a little and try restaurants that are normally out of our price range. I took the hubby here for his birthday on Friday. Everything was great, service, quality of food, atmosphere. The only hiccup were that both of our steaks were cooked incorrectly. Still very delicious though. I made a reservation for 5:15 to go before our concert at House of Blues. I was 30 minutes late as I got stuck on the green line then had to run in my heels b/c I could not find a cab, but they were very kind and did not make me feel like a big jerk. The hubby was enjoying his second drink at the bar by the time I arrived and the bartender seemed very nice. We were seated right away at a cozy booth and all of a sudden a cop pulls over someone and there’s flashing lights in our eyes, an employee comes to our aid right away and lowers the blinds for us. Our server was very nice, attentive and patient. I don’t remember her name, I apologize. I was the only one drinking wine so I was happy that they had a pretty decent selection of glass by the wine, bonus points for that. We started with veal ravioli appetizer and it was delicious. Then onto the wedge salad, it was good but a little heavy handed with the dressing, no problem. I ordered the smaller ribeye cooked medium rare and my husband ordered the larger ribeye medium. They were served on scorching hot plates(more bonus points). I was just sad that my husbands medium stake was rare, as in bright red and cold in the middle. My steak was more medium, as it was just pink in the middle. Perhaps they switched our desired temps. Anyway, my husband hates returning food, but this was a must with a cold in the middle steak. They were very nice about it, put it back on to cook a little more and a manager brought it back and we looked in the center and it was perfect. Both steaks were delicious. Salt, pepper and butter really is all you need for a good quality steak, they are correct. And dessert! We had the cheesecake with berries. It was quite tasty.

My husband and I really enjoy Ruth’s Chris. It’s probably our favorite and despite being a chain, the food is very very reliably good every time. We live in Louisville and the one at home has always been a wonderful experience. We’ve now tried one in Indianapolis and this time, the Dearborn Street Chicago location. The food was wonderful as it always is. Our steaks(petit filets) were ordered medium but came more medium rare, but they were still delicious so this was a minor thing for us. The crab stuffed mushroom app was a new try for us and it was delicious. In the past we’ve enjoyed the lobster and calamari apps, but found the crab cakes to be very plain. My husband added lobster tail to his steak and it was also a very good choice. Perfectly cooked! The big disappointment, which is the cause of the 3 stars, was in the service. Our server was just sufficient. Anywhere else, fine, but you are paying«the big bucks» so to speak for excellent service as well as the food. At home, they always switch out white napkins for black ones if you have on black dress clothes(we both did). This didn’t happen here. We’ve also always been asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We’ve been to RCMANY times and always been asked this. And if we were celebrating, we were given a complimentary dessert with a personalized message on it. always a very nice touch! Sadly, this time we weren’t asked. We were in fact celebrating our anniversary but certainly weren’t going to bring it up ourselves in an awkward fashion. side note: walking distance from many downtown hotels. we stayed at ACME and its just a few blocks away.

Came here with a group of friends from work and celebrated my birthday. The food was good but the service was terrible. There was 9 of us and we ordered Martinis to start with and it took close to 45 mins to get them. The delay was because they spilt one of the drinks over 2 people by accident. Instead of apologizing they said a customer the other day had a whole tray of drinks spilt on them, so we didn’t have it that bad. The steaks were good and the portion of the sides were large enough to share with everyone.

As good as a steak can get, and to think this is a chain blows me away. This place features my all time favorite T-Bone steak and i never get tired of it. If you go here an leave unhappy, something went really wrong!

Stopped by for dinner with some co-workers around 6pm on a Thursday. We were immediately greeted and seated at a booth. Our server was friendly and recommended some wines, appetizers and entrees. Meals are accompanied by complimentary bread and butter. We passed on appetizers. I ordered a glass of the Malbec and the 22oz Cowboy Ribeye medium rare. We all shared the lobster macaroni and cheese and garlicky mashed potatoes. The steak was a perfect medium rare and seasoned well. I devoured the entire thing. The lobster mac and cheese was phenomenal, I’d return and order that as my entrée. Equally tasty were the garlicky mashed potatoes, fluffy and smooth. My co-workers ordered the ribeye and petite filet with shrimp which they both said were fantastic. The petite filet is two medallions with 6 large shrimp placed on top, it looked great. We were all satisfied and stuffed so we passed on desserts. For a chain I think Ruth Chris does a great job, I was highly satisfied with the entire meal and will definitely be back.

I know this place isn’t Mastros and isn’t trying to be Mastros. So I’ll try to review it without being inherently biased towards Mastros. My party of 5 arrived a few minutes before are reservation. We were told the reservations were running 20 minutes late. At least they warned us. There’s a small waiting area but not nearly as big as the amount of people waiting. They brought around mini appetizers and champagne to the people waiting which was a nice touch, even though the waiter basically walked right past me ignoring me. I’m pretty convinced it was due to my young age. We were finally seated about 30 minutes after our reservation. Like I stated, most of the customers are well over 50. Our waiter was nice, friendly, and helpful. He promptly brought the bread basket which was great because by this point we were starving! After the bread we split a salad. Can’t remember the name but it was surprisingly good. For an entrée I ordered the filet medium rare. Omg this steak was amazing. Honestly though, not as much butter as expected. But then again I’m used to more butter than the average person. Steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. However, the rest of my party ordered medium steaks and they were still red in the middle. One of us sent theirs back. I tried the ribeye, which is my usual choice but decided to switch it up, and that was equally amazing. For sides we ordered the lobster mac and cheese, au gratin potatoes, and steamed broccoli. Potatoes were average and broccoli was cooked nicely. But that Mac was out of this world. And not just because there was lobster in it. Is was seriously good Mac. I asked the waiter what was in it and he said a jalapeño cheese. Don’t worry, it’s not spicy, just delicious. All in all it was a nice meal. I probably will go elsewhere though until I turn 60.
