I just cannot support a doctor that makes his patients wait hours after their scheduled appointment — as if his time is so much more important his patients’. Seriously, I know its hard for an office to run smoothly and right on time, but my dentist office always calls me if they are running over an hour late and lets me to know to come in later or asks if I want to reschedule. After an hour of waiting, one person got called back and there were five people ahead of me! I finally left, as I would have been there for hours. Not cool.

He’s a great doctor with friendly staff. He performed my upper endoscopy and was very pleased w/the overall experience. This place however is very busy. A bigger waiting room would be nice.

I leave two stars because I never got to see the doctor. I’ve been having stomach problems, a relapse of a disease that went into remission eight years ago, and they’ve been very severe. Roop Gupta is one of the few gastroenterologists who accepts my insurance. I called during office hours and apparently got the receptionist, a woman who seemed very unhappy that I called. I said I’d like to make an appointment, she asked for my number, and as soon as she found out it wasn’t a 773 or 312 area code, she told me she couldn’t call that number, to call back with a Chicago number, and promptly hung up on me. When I called back, very confused, she YELLED at me about how she doesn’t have long distance and can’t call my number, that she hung up on me because she was talking to an insurance company, and that I wasn’t important to her, certainly not more important than the insurance company. The last thing I want to hear from a doctor’s office is that I’m not important to them. The doctor may be fine and I may call back to make an appointment again — but his staff has thus far done nothing but make me feel unhappy, confused, and unwelcome.
