Red Eyes Coffee is a small but unique spot. They are set up like a traditional coffee shop and have a wide variety of beans, coffee drinks, teas and pastries. What I really liked about the hour we spent there were two things. First, the service was outstanding. There was only one person working the counter, but it was late in the afternoon when we arrived so it was not crowded. Secondly, their seating area consists of couches, relaxing and comfortable chairs and tables. They do offer wi-fi and there were a few people around who were on their laptops working or playing. And, let’s not forget the coffee was good too. Fun, comfortable and relaxing. This is a great place to decompress after a long day.

I’ve only been here 2x but I knew on my first visit that I would soon become a regular. This place is cozy, spacious and relaxing. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, albeit a little slow. I do not mind and neither does anyone else that has come in here. I’ve only ordered their regular coffee black and their sandwiches which are all delicious. There are plenty of spaces and types of seating to suit anyone’s needs. There is free wifi which works very well on my laptop. When I use my iPhone I have to constantly reconnect when I idle — I don’t know if it’s a mobile or iPhone specific thing. They serve a wide variety of foods and drinks — such as fresh fruit smoothies, all types of caffeinated beverages — speciality teas, coffees, lattes and stuff; cakes, muffins, cookies, biscotti, cheesecake, pie; sandwiches, quiches, ice cream + banana splits and more. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend you drop in, grab s coffee and pastry and people watch. Types of people this place is perfect for: 2 friends catching up over drinks, families + kids, people needing a quiet place to study/work/read, people who love to people watch(there’s outdoor seating), small groups who want to hang out and people who want to grab a cup of coffee and support a small business.

Would you walk into this place and immediately rate it a 5? Probably not. But I’m going to tell you why you would love to come here. I intended on going to Starbucks on Lincoln, but when I got there the seats were all full and it felt sterile. I quick Unilocaled another place nearby and found Red Eyes Coffee. Immediately a wild 20% coupon appeared by using the app. When I got there, the owners were kind, and brought me my food at the table. I got a bagel sandwich and a large coffee for just over $ 5. The place feels like a home, but clean. As I was sitting at a table working, I noticed the owner decorating outside for fall, and I LOVEFALL. All in all, I appreciated the friendliness, atmosphere, and the care the owner puts into the place.

I used to love this place, up until about 9 months ago. It used to serve delicious Intelligentsia coffee/espresso. It used to have delicious baked goods. Now the coffee is some strange off brand that tastes horrible. Last time we went in, we ended up with a cookie so raw, we sent it back, and two bagels so stale, we threw them away, and I could not choke down the latte. Still a cute place– I wish they would bring back good coffee and good food.

Great place on the corner of my street! Don’t go if you’re in a rush, though, because it’s one woman by herself and can be a little slow. I’ve never had their food, but I did customize a white chocolate mocha with peppermint and got the largest size(as much espresso as a veinte at SBux) — my usual order there — and it was a dollar and change cheaper.

It’s a cozy place. Really good for children and families, but not the type of place I would go to work every now and then. It’s just my personal opinion. The place is good and has plenty of different options to choose from.

Very simple — rock solid food and coffee. Convenient location. You can’t beat it. I’m a sucker for a breakfast sandwich. I got a sausage/egg/cheese bagel and it was HUGE and delicious. Good coffee too. Amazing way to start a day!

I’ve been coming to this sweet spot for years now. You can pretty much spend hours at Red Eye, and have all that you need! There’s snacks, pastries, breakfast and lunch items, ice cream, fresh squeezed juices, and of course coffee and tea. I also like that the wifi is free, and doesn’t require you to jump through a thousand hoops and constantly disconnect. It’s family owned, family run, and the vibe is much sweeter than and softer than Starbucks. Occasionally there may be an acoustic guitarist there, or maybe someone singing softly but usually it’s a great place to meet your friends or have a business meeting. Plus it’s also located to the best Korean food in Chicago, so that’s an added bonus!

Super nice spot! They have fresh juices, smoothies. They have all kind of great cakes, cookies and other baking goods, etc. their coffee is really good according to my husband(I don’t drink coffee). They have plenty of space to hang out and work /study. They offer free wifi.

I’ve been here a handful of times. When you first walk in, it’s not what you expect. It’s rather quiet, especially during a winter like this, and it remains almost as quiet in during the summer. I love that about this place. I can study in complete peace without being distracted by loud music, talkative staff, and dishes clinking everywhere you turn. So basically, no one come here or else I won’t get any studying done ;) The coffee is good. I’ve had better. They offer Intelligentsia coffee. I remember one time I can during the Fall, and I tasted their Pumpkin Spiced latte that was burnt. The taste was awful! I told the owner, who is a sweetheart, along with her hubby, and she checked it out and offered me a discount. I’ve also have had the quiche a few times. It’s decent, but it does NOT come with a salad like the menu says. It’s almost always any fruit that is within season. One star off for that and slightly on the slow side service. I can’t imagine how slow it would be when they’re swamped with customers!

We were in the area, and dropped in here for some Intelligentsia coffee. We did not buy anything else on this visit. They have a cozy, comfortable, and inviting setting and I could have been comfortable here for hours(if I had that kind of time to hang here). It would also be hard for me to give less than 4 stars to any place that serves Intelligentsia, as it usually indicates a quality place.

I was never the type to frequent the same coffee shop on a daily basis, but Red Eyes came along and showed me what I was missing. One day I was looking for a local spot where I could sip a good cup of coffee while get some work done and this was the place. I ordered a plain black coffee and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was quiet and the décor made it very cozy. As I was about to put on my headphones and fire up the laptop, I couldn’t help but nod my head to the awesome, eclectic blend of music that was being played. I was a able to get some quality work done that day, and I now frequent Red Eyes quite often. In addition to the great coffee and cozy environment, they offer some great pastry items and breakfast sandwiches. I have tried a few and have yet to try something that I didn’t like. The staff is always friendly, which is a big plus compared to some other coffee shops that hire angry, malnutritioned hipsters who don’t know the meaning of customer service. Overall, this a great place to grab a coffee and quick bite, while posting up to get some work done.

Pleasant place to hang out before or after feasting on some Korean BBQ. Staff was friendly and hospitable.

By far the best coffee and pricing I’ve seen in years, Starbucks, you have no clue how to make coffee the right way and charge a customer a good price for it. you guys are way over rated… this place«Red Eyes Café on Lincoln ave and Berteau corner has a warm welcome inside, the bathroom is actually a clean respectful bathroom that smells fresh and shows the owner really does care about there customers. The woman that works here noticed that it was my first time and how much I enjoyed a coffee shop for once in my life she wanted to give me the coffee and Apple Danish for free, and I said no thank you, you guys need to make a living as well but thanks so much for the offer and it was so nice of ever to do… that’s what counts in this world anymore, is CUSTOMERSERVICE… They also have a great area for little kids… seating and toys. and they also have a outside seating area, very comfortable and affordable I say., I would rate them 10 stars if I could… nice job Red Eye Café

With so many chain coffee houses out there, it’s nice to see a local joint with good coffee, breakfast sandwiches made to order and a place to hang out and read your book without getting hassled by hipsters. Any bad reviews you see on here are probably from people who expect their coffee shop experience to be automated(i.e. corporate) and have forgotten how a real coffee shop works. You shouldn’t be in a hurry if you want to go out and enjoy a cup of Joe. Sit back, relax, and wait for your order to be ready. You want drive thru quick? Go to DD.

Quiet and cozy with interesting collection of books and furniture. It was past my coffee hour so I had a chai tea latte, which was fine if just a tad too sweet. Nice place to hang out and chat with friends.

What a sweet ‘lil neighborhood jewel I have found here! Cute, unassuming, quiet place, with plenty of delicious food and drink selections. I had a chai tea latte and my other half had some frozen, decadent goodness… I forget the name. We shared a spinach quiche, which was delicious. Service was good, just suuuuuper slow, hence the 4 stars, but this place is a KEEPER!

I was surprised at how much space is inside this place! I didn’t spend much time inside because it was beautiful outside and they have a nice patio area. The older couple that run the place are very kind. I ordered an iced chai, and a black and white cookie. Both items were delicious! The black and white cookie might have been the best one I’ve had yet. I think I found my new go to coffee shop!
