After reading Unilocal reviews I was skeptical to try this place but I’m glad I decided to form my own opinion. To be honest I’m not 100% sure what I got but it was chicken and rice and chick peas and flavored pretty well. I was offered a small plate with different options to sample and asked if I was going to dine in… I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, their English was fine. My platter was $ 11, no menus are posted and it felt like he just grabbed a number out of thin air. I did get a lot of food but it was mainly rice. $ 7-$ 8 would’ve been fair. I still tipped a $ 1 and I’ll probably go back. Ask what’s good today and try it.

Firstly, I have no idea what’s going on with all of the ‘don’t trust the Muslims’ nonsense. Seriously people… take a moment to think before you post something so xenophobic. The menu is clearly posted with prices. Yes, the menu changes everyday, this is typical in most of the world. Furthermore, they really need to change their name, get new signage and start a new Unilocal page. It’s clear they’ve changed ownership as well as their focus since opening Now let’s get to the actual review. Firstly, at night this restaurant is mostly Indo-Pakistani/Mughlai cuisine now. They may haved a Middle Eastern menu during the day but I’ve never stopped by for lunch. The prices are quite fair, and the portions quite large. The food is pretty consistent with the other two restaurants on the block that cater to the transportation worker crowd. New Zaika and Tabaq next store are pretty comparable. I’d say Pita Grill is generally slightly less expensive with quality really varying depending on what specials are available.

Only ate the food because I was famished! No real menu and the prices seemed made up. Paid $ 10 for food that all tasted the same. Don’t use the restroom, you will be scared for life.

I was charged $ 8.00 for a plate of plain rice. It used to be 4 – 5 dollars. I hate to say this but I believe that because I was not ethnic they overcharged me. Will not go back.

In summery: 1. if you are not Arab or Pakistani you will get ripped off if you eat here. 2. This store most likely evades taxes and should be reported to the IRS. 3. Other than the naan, the food is ok at best and the place is really dirty. I have been 3 times to this place, mainly because its near my house. First thing you will notice is that there is no menu nor any prices. Second, most people dont speak english. I order the same dish all 3 times with the same sides. The first time i ordered a plate, after finishing the meal the guy told me that it’s gonna be 10 dollars. I saw that some of the other customers paid less than that. The second time i was smart enough to ask the prices first and was told that its 7 dollars. when i finished the meal, they said that its 10. Luckily the guy who told me 7 was still in the store. The third time i went, i again asked for prices in advance and was told its 7. This time after finishing the meal, the same guy told me that its 8. When i asked why, he said that they charge a dollar for the togo box. I told him to f himself and offered the box back to him. If you will notice, no prices listed anywhere in the store, no taxes calculated and no recites are ever given. Its all cash business. It is obvious that these guys are evading taxes and i for one am planning to report them. The store itself and the utensils don’t look sanitary either.

Great lunch spot! I work right down the sidewalk from this establishment, and eat there a couple of times a month. The Business Lunch Special is perfect! It comes with two types of meat, awesome rice, great hummus and a small salad. I would recommend ordering some pita’s to make a nice little pita with all the goodies inside. If ordering take out, be aware that it does take about 15 minutes, so calling ahead is a plus. I also recommend calling in your lunch earlier in the day so you can get more of a helping of meat. My only gripe is that the portions seem inconsistent. Some days you get more meat, some days you get more rice. Overall, I will be returning. The convenience and tastiness does it for me.

So, I received an email from the new owner yesterday. He said to come on in, give them another shot and he would give me 50% off. No harm in trying. Went in today and the owner wasn’t there, so no big deal. I ordered the ground beef kabob sandwich on Naan with a small hummus. Took a little while to cook, but at least you know it is fresh. I watched the guy make the Naan, very cool. So, I got my bag to go and headed up to my office. I was nervous, ha. I really wanted to like this place the first time. I am happy to report that the meal was fantastic. Really hit the spot. The sandwich was perfect. I am relieved and glad that there is a new lunch spot around that I can go to. So, next time I will take him up on the 50% off… happy to pay full price this time!@

Just didn’t do it for me. The hummus was ok at best. The entrees were just not very good. Not planning on going back.
