Delicious! I can’t wait to go back. We went on a Friday and got the last open table. Service was quick and super friendly. The food came fast and was piping hot, very fresh, and very flavorful. We ordered tofu spring rolls, lemongrass tofu and lemongrass chicken and another veggie dish. The waitress was very friendly and very patient with us even though we were rushing to make it to a concert. It was all so good, I wish we had had the time to hang out and savor it, but I will definitely go back — this place is a hidden gem — so many other yummy looking things on their menu to try too. Also, don’t be scared, the water looks yellow, but it’s flavored with a little jasmine!

Been wanting to try this place. My in laws live close so it’s nice to know we can get some Vietnamese food close by. Place is small and not hard to find. We ordered a Vietnamese steamed rice roll for an appetizer and a beef phở and veggie phở. The rice roll was the first time my wife had tried it and she really liked it. I thought it was well made, maybe just a little more of the sauce would have been great. I’m sure they would have gave it to me if I asked. My wife had the veggie phở and she liked it a lot. I had the beef phở and the broth was really good. They gave a lot of beef so it wasn’t like some of those cheap places with 2 – 3 pieces in it. Overall I thought the food was really good. It has no other cuisine close by so it makes it a great little gem. I usually goto argyle for phở and this place can definitely replace going there if I lived closer to it. I also had a mango smoothie and it was really good as well. I love my drinks cold as it was made with ice so it was like a freeze. This place also gave us jasmine ice tea and not just water. Nice touch…

Nice place serving good flavourful food. The options are extensive. The servers are courteous and helpful. As the place is smaller they find it difficult and take time to cater to bigger groups. I tried the shrimp and chicken, which was well cooked. The cook screwed on the amount of salt but it was corrected when we spoke to the server. All in all, will not be a regular to this place.

I cannot stop thinking about the chicken curry soup. Amazing. My coworker has been telling me about this place for a little while now, and she finally took me for lunch this week. My experience was so fantastic — friendly staff, incredibly flavorful food, excellent pricing — that I feel a little sad to have discovered this treasure after years of working close by. I will make up the time, and try to go at least once per week!

Place seems understaffed. My sandwich was plain, the tofu was just lightly seasoned. The other sandwich turned out to be soup with bread on the side, which took a long time to prep. They didn’t give us one of our drinks and completely ignored us. I was exited to find a Vietnamese place in this neighborhood, my mistake. The jasmine water was good. Won’t be back, sorry.

Found this place on Unilocal and I gotta say I love everything about it! It’s right down the street from my house. I got the phở with beef and it was very satisfying. I think it could have used more meat but over all so much food! The service was very quick and friendly. Definitely going to be coming here to try other new things on the menu.

My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a shot instead of going to our usual phở spot and we did not like the phở here. The broth had too much black pepper but the noodle was good. I personally think if they lessen the black pepper it would of been better. If you ask for extra noodle on the side, beware. It’s literally a bowl of noodle(same amount of your actually phở bowl) They do serve jasmine ice tea which I really enjoyed. I don’t think we will be coming back to this place again.

Phở soup to get in our neighborhood was not easy an easy task. However, to have great tasting soup with affordable menu is above the convenience. This place has unique broth of the phở, generous portions, and friendly staff. I patronize this place as often as I could. My favorite soup is meatballs and beef slices. I am salivating of just thinking about it. I am very glad to have this Vietnamese place near home!

Snowy Day and wanted some Phở. Walked into this new spot in the neighborhood. Heard good things from my husband who ordered from here once. I had to check this out for myself. The Décor in this place is nice, simple and bright. Let’s not forget to mention, very clean. Ordered Phở and the Vietnamese Pancake. Both very delicious. The Phở was tasty and the broth was great! Loved the water that they serve has a hint of Jasmine Tea mixed in… Refreshing ! Will go back! The people here are super nice and very attentive. Can’t wait to go back again.

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago, the food is so healthy and good! They also have Vietnamese coconuts which I buy every time I go there.

So we were at Phở No.1 about 2 months after it first opened and the food was awful. Almost a year later, I thought, «Maybe it’s different; they may have gotten through the kinks of a startup business” – nope! The food is still bad; the same owner is the same chef with his hat, serving the same strange, non-Vietnamese, totally Americanized Asian food. They must be doing something right because they were pretty busy, but if you truly want to know what authentic Vietnamese food tastes like, make friends with a Vietnamese or drive for another 25 minutes to Argyle and Broadway!

Amazing food and quick service! Love their phở: seafood, beef and the filet mignon! The broth is super flavorful and won over some tough critics in my family. Big spring rolls, tasty!

Great stuff here. I ordered the phở due to lack of vietnamese options in my own neighborhood. After seeing other Unilocal reviews for this little establishment and out of due hunger, I ended up here one night. The service is fast and friendly and the phở is exactly what I would have imagined phở to be. That is a brothy, noodle deliciousness of a meal. It’s a lot of food, so either bring an appetite or you will have plenty to eat again for 4th meal. Cold night or a summer day in the city, you can never go wrong with phở.

Saw the great reviews. Here I am. Got the phở 1 combination and shrimp spring rolls. My wife got the veggie phở. The spring rolls were big, fresh and delicious. Could have had less lettuce but the favors were there. The combo phở was delicious, generous, and packed with flavor. A little sweeter than what I’m accustomed to but tasty nonetheless. My wife’s phở was good and brimming with fresh veggies. She opted for the beef stock but veggie soup base is available too. I’m coming back.

It’s time I review because I am officially a regular now. Unfortunately I haven’t tried much yet because I love the phở(I get the ribeye) and pork egg rolls but some day I want to try the banh mi. Having said that, it’s not my favorite phở restaurant in Chicago but it over-exceeds my expectations of what I thought I would find and I am very happy here. The broth is delicious and they put a ton of noodles in. And I am very surprised by people that complain about the service. I think they’re very, very nice. Don’t let the fact that it’s justion Jefferson Park scare you. It’s a very nice restaurant and the soup is very good. Update: still love it here but thing that worried me now makes me feel better. I don’t drink water at restaurants so I didn’t mention this before but it bothered me that the«water» they bring to the table had a yellowish/brownish color to it. Well I found out today it’s TEA! Duh to me.

This place is located in a tiny strip mall on Lawrence and is very easy to miss. I can’t believe how many times I passed by and didn’t know this place existed! Well I’m happy to have ventured in here today. My mom and I came in for lunch and the place was pretty empty. We were promptly greeted by the waitress and she also served us with delicious jasmine iced tea. They had a decent sized menu but we were In the mood for phở. I went with shrimp and my mom went with the chicken. I really enjoyed the shrimp phở but my only complaint wold be that there just wasn’t enough shrimp. No complaints from my moms end, she loved her phở. I will definitely come back but I will be sure to try something else next time

Great little Vietnamese place in Jeff Park. Small, unassuming, and quite good. Try the beef spring rolls with sweet peanut sauce. Then the pork bahn-mi sandwich which was hardy, full of flavor but maybe a little too dry. Then the chicken phở soup. Like most soups you have to dress it up to our liking(like lime, herbs, and saracha) but the base was excellent. Perfect for a 0 degree day. Best part… really inexpensive. About $ 17 for 2 of us. Will come back.

8 months later and my husband talked me into giving it another go. The service was MUCH better. Above and beyond better. Luis was very sweet and attentive. The owner came out to talk to us and was also very nice. Another plus, they now have a broader choice of condiments. But… the phở just isn’t 4 or 5 stars. I don’t know if the bowls are too small or if they put too many noodles in but the ratio just seems off to me. Not enough broth. Plus it just wasn’t as hot as it is when served at other places. They’re suuuuper skimpy on the sprouts and basil too. A better experience all in all and since we live so close, I’ll go back. But if I really want a satisfying phở, I’ll still head to Argyle.
