Out of business. Hopefully something good moves in. The business model of this place is probably fine and I would not have hated it so much had they not attempted to describe it as a sports bar. There really wasn’t a bar, and the«sports» were often limited to ESPNU30 for 30 docs or Golf. The neighborhood deserves something better. This place will not be missed.

Walked by today and they are closed, good riddance, food was over priced and not that good. Let’s see if the next place will succeed or fail like the previous 3.

I ordered over the phone for delivery from this place and was found a little wanting for customer service. The guy on the phone was cutting me off as I was trying to finish customizing my order like he was in a rush to get through their ‘script’. I will say that when he was finished he was very polite about my customization. I ordered around 5:45 pm because I had homework and wanted to get an early start. I was told my delivery would take about an hour which would be perfect. Now I am not one to complain about early but they arrived 25 minutes later with my order. I was surprised and quite happy though it did take it’s toll on my homework timing. Then there is the food. I ordered a buffalo chicken Philly with fries. The chicken was what seemed to me, chicken meat for gyros. Sad to say it was a little bland and quite dry. The buffalo sauce seemed like a last minute addition as if they almost forgot it, and it wasn’t on all the meat(maybe why a good portion of the meat was dry and bland). The buffalo sauce itself was very oily on the sandwich which was unlike most buffalo sauces I’ve had(hence another reason I believe it was this last addition), if it were cooked with the meat last minute, it would absorb a little into the meat and give it solid flavor. The cheese left me looking in my fridge if I had more, stingy on cheese for a chicken cheesesteak is not the way to go. The fries seem to be fair though a little too oily for my taste and two packs of ketchup for fries is not enough. The potatoes were good though and you could eat a few without ketchup(if that is your thing, I only eat fries with ketchup if I can help it). I give this two stars because«Meh, I’ve experienced better» is truer than the three stars of «A-OK.» I lived in Florida for a few years(the last place one would expect to find good cheesesteak or great food overall) and it is there to which I hold my standard because I can be a picky eater. The overall experience was okay but I truly have had better, much better. I plan on visiting another cheesesteak place in Evanston in hopes my cheesesteak quest in Chicagoland will be over, but we shall see. Good luck Philly’s Best, I may be back and I hope to experience improvement!

We are exclusive GrubHub customers of this restaurant, so cannot comment on the wait staff or the ambiance of the establishment. We love the food. We have grown disenchanted with their terrible service. We have had 2 orders in less than 2 months either up to 2 hours late or not delivered at all. The first time, the manager on duty offered us a big«credit on file» and to just call. When we called to use this credit, the manager was not there, and there was«no record of the credit.» Tonight, with the«lost“order(not delivered at all), they seemed not to care. The worst customer service I’ve seen in years. Such a shame, because the food is actually good.

How can you not love a place that sells pizza by the slice? Great location in Roger’s Park! I’m a regular now and will most definitely remain one for this extremely comfortable Sports Bar! Plenty of well placed TVs so no matter where you are you can always catch a game! Great food and really tasty pizza…(try their amazing gyro pizza or veggie)! Staff here is extremely hospitable and very chill. Definitely gives off an inviting vibe. Very friendly and makes your experience even better. And you wanna talk about comfortable? There is a killer couched in spot at the back of corner of the restaurant. Sort of closed off so provides for nice privacy. THREE big screens in that corner and a working FIREPLACE. Personally, I could order grub and chill there all day! You all should definitely check out this gem of a spot. Great food, great prices great atmosphere and even better staff. Definitely worthy of being an RP favorite! Mike

I have stopped into their Lakeview location before and recently realized that they now have a location on Sheridan. This may cause in increase to my waist size as I enjoy their sandwiches and no longer need to leave my home to get one. I am a traditionalist so I get the cheese-steak with onions and cheese whiz… there is no other way to get it. Most(possibly all) sandwiches comes with fries and a drink. Delivery is quick, they consistently identify a 45 minute time frame but are often much quicker.

The food’s okay, solid grinders. I’m not sure that the bread shipped in from Philadelphia is really worth the trouble, but a schtick is a schtick. On a lovely April night, after 10 pm, I have the choice of listening to the game or closing my windows and missing out on the fresh air. My apartment is a short distance from the restaurant and more than five stories up. Nevertheless, I can hear every word the sports announcer is saying, so that is one heck of a loud television they have.(I phoned and politely asked that the volume be lowered. They turned it down a bit, but I can still hear the announcer quite clearly.) The following November: I stopped in, ravenous, because I’d been at an event and hadn’t had lunch. I asked if they could add some fresh spinach to my sandwich. No problem! Opened the sandwich when I got home: chunks of frozen spinach — not thawed — on a sloppy mess.

I wish I could like this place more than I do, but for whatever reason I keep coming back. I think it’s the fries. Ok, it’s definitely the fries. I’ve never eaten in the place, or gotten booze. It’s always been take out for me. They’re pretty slow. I recently discovered that through Eat24, you can order online(because calling on the phone is so 2006) and that’s better than waiting in the uncomfortable tables while they take 10 – 15 minutes for a simple order. I couldn’t imagine watching a whole game there. DONOT get the chicken tenders. They are thin and whatever the opposite of juicy is. They are greasy. I didn’t even know this was possible, but they soak the bag with grease. Does that happen by leaving them in the fryer too long? Is that why it always takes forever for my order? But the next level cheese fries, man. Bacon and cheese and sour cream. Yeah, that’s why I keep going back.

Good Philly cheese steak. Very greasy. Might come back here in the future. Fries are okay, a little too soggy.

Stop for lunch today and had the Italian beef on garlic bread. Oh my gosh what a great Italian beef, best I’ve had in a long long time. more then a meal had to get half to go. the staff was great I asked for something to rap the rest of my sandwich, one of the guys took it from me and raped and put it in a bag. Thanks that’s just over the top service.

I reached out to Philly’s Best about helping to host a night out for football drafting, and the experience was absolutely astounding. The servers, Dan and John, were attentive and fun, and the entire experience was a delight. The décor is pretty par for the course for a bar, with a particular gem being the living room-esque section in the back with TVs, couches, and a fireplace(especially good during cold nights!), while the rest is standard tables and chairs for sitting and eating. The bar is not expansive, but it has beer, quick service, and really, REALLY decent prices. Finally, the food was phenomenally good! Like, look, if you want an actual, authentic Philadelphia cheesesteak in Chicago, THIS is where you go to get it. The bread is perfect, and the taste and presentation is spot on. Disclaimer: I lived in Philly for 10 years. I know my cheesesteaks. This is legit. As for the pizza? It’s trash, but Philly eats trash pizza*, so it is an ENTIRELY authentic experience. *: Except Lorenzo’s, Lorenzo’s is legit, but it’s also New York pizza, not Philly pizza I’ll be coming here for game nights this year, no doubt!

This was maybe two Saturdays ago. I saw that they sold pizza by the slice, so I wanted to check them out, and to see how the pizza tasted. I have to say, «it was the worst thing that I’ve ever ate.» The sauce was rather flat, or basic, I mean it had flavors, but nothing to smile about. On top of that(or should I say bottom), the bread was way too soft, it was so soggy that it was practically dripping. And the crust, which is usually my favorite part of the pizza, was the worst part of the pizza. It was rock solid, I could break a window, or open a door with it. If the pizza is that below par, I really think that shouldn’t sale it for seven plus dollars. I’d be mad that I payed a buck for it… But unfortunately, the food wasn’t the only bad thing about this bar, their customer service was just as bad if not worse. So as we entered the bar, the waiter just answered the phone. He was a young lad in his early twenties, he was wearing glasses and had on a Loyola T-shirt. Anyway we approached the counter, and he gave us no acknowledgement, he just continued to talk with whom ever was on the phone. I mean how rude… The appropriate thing to do, would be to politely ask the customer, or whom ever he is talking with to hold, and then handle the customers(me) who are in front of him. There were two ladies behind him, further towards the kitchen, but they were chatting it up too. One of the ladies had on a chief out fit, or looked to be a chief, and the other lady was a waiter. After waiting a few moments finally one of the ladies came over to take our order, we ordered two slices of pizza to go, one sausage and the other pepperoni. So we got our pizza and we were on our way, but I couldn’t help but feel annoyed that the male waiter, after being so rude, finished with the phone and didn’t thank us for our service. Oh and neither of them gave us any napkins. One of the worst experiences with food service that I’ve ever had. And I walk pass this place everyday. The one day that I tried it, I realized why I never tried in the twenty plus years I lived in this city. I hope they get better with: customer service, food service, and food quality. And maybe hire better staff. If I could give them one star I would of.

I was excited that there was a new Loyola«sports bar» in the neighborhood! My first impression, however, is that this place is actually not really a bar. It felt more like a fast food restaurant with a lot of TVs, beer, and cafeteria trays. The customer service was also poor. First off, the cashier seemed disinterested and didn’t even make eye-contact for several moments, as he was writing something down. Then he did not greet me with ‘hello,’ or ‘welcome…,’ but instead, his way of asking, ‘how may I help you?’ was with a blunt: «What’s up?» I ordered a slice of pizza, which came out of a revolving display case under a heat lamp. The slice had three curled up, dry, pepperonis on it, the crust was hard, it was very greasy, and the cheese was off center when he peeled it away from the pizza, because the cheese had solidified. As I was dining-in, I guess I had expected it to be fresh – it wasn’t. I was starving though, so I regretfully took it despite my better judgment. I was only able to eat about half of it and then felt compelled to throw it away, and I left. The place was dirty and dead. Now I am literally in pain. My stomach is now hurting, and I’m running for the toilet from eating here. It’s unlikely I will ever return.

This place is GREAT!!! I’m not so wild about how the food comes when it is delivered, but when you have it there, it is great. This location is a big upgrade from their old places, nice interior, couches, pool table, liquor, TVs, etc… It is quite a bit different than the old place in Evanston. The food is still the same, which means good, but now it is actually a nice place to go.

Don’t order from here. Ordered food through grub hub. Came in missing items(my 3 year olds meal) and with replacements(on dessert items) without any notice that they were out of anything. I called grub hub to find out the procedure to get it fixed, they called Phillys and told them they were too busy and refused to provide a time for delivery to send it back out. Then I called them directly to find out the issue and they were rude, told me they don’t force anyone to order from them and hung up on me. I paid for food I never got. Absolutely awful service. Do yourself a favor and just skip this place, honestly the food is greasy and not even worth it. Update: If I could give it zero stars I would. 2 attempts from grub hub and myself and they just didnt answer or just hung up on us and didnt send out the food. Grub hub refunded me for the missing items.

I really wanna love Philly’s best. As a matter of fact my boyfriend loves it. I m disappointed that I have to write this review. Today we ordered online for pick up. Got there to pick up then got home and the cheese basically exploded on my pretzels bites, don’t understand why you would pack it like that and they forgot to give us my philly fries. I didn’t make my boyfriend go back because parking is rough. The fresh cut fries that he got with his chicken Philly weren’t good either, you can tell they haven’t changed the oil. Tonight we used a $ 3 off coupon that we got from a previous order error on their behalf. Guess don’t try their delivery/pickup option via their online ordering system. We usually have good service when we dine in. So disappointed, we’ll be giving Philly’s best a little break until they get their act together.

2 stars for the food. Food was decent but yet expensive. Service, forget about it. One of the most ridiculous and slow services that I have ever experienced. I don’t know if I would ever recommend this place to anyone. And knowing how many of good places have come and gone at this location, I doubt if this place, given its pathetic service, would sustain at all. Tldr: make it your last option.

First time at Philly’s Best Sports Bar. I had the Chicken Philly BLT. Was sure a delectable and yummy — flavors seasoning cheese all well blends together nicely. Portion size along with side of fries perfect. Not to Big or not too small just right is Goldilocks would say.

Great place! Having been a Rogers park resident for 2 years now… It’s great to finally have a place like this. Full bar Has 20 TVs Has a fire place Great open layout w/lots of windows for daylight Great food Very nice owner The options in Roger park are slim. Coupled with limited places where you can sit and have a meal that isn’t either Mexican, pizza, or Asian. This places is a great bridge to fill in that need.

The location is beautiful and very spacious. Unfortunately I took my meal to go so I couldn’t really get the feel for the bar. I enjoyed my sandwich to the fullest and taste exactly like the other locations. The staff was extremely friendly and seemed eager to help. I will be back again and try the bar and give a bigger review.
