Open Secret Studios

It’s a warehouse painted in white that is a makeshift of everything. Next to nothing perks.
PROJECTION WALL — good space. It’s a dry wall with exposed joint seams. Needs to be fixed and repainted.
SOUND — horrid microphone system. It’s better to sing acoustic with strong voice projection.
SEATING — minimal and persons were taking their own foldable wooden chair to the second level in half landing stairs.
SAFETY — guardrails violate the building safety code. It will be easy for unsupervised/​unguarded kids to roll down from second floor to first floor.
BATHROOM — one. At full capacity (say 500), venue becomes a torture.
HEAT /​AC – bare minimum. At 100 persons, venue was cold. No evident pipes for AC forced air. Only ceiling fans. Sauna in a hot summer.
LIGHTING — sporadic. 2 LED ceiling lightbulbs with changing colors on main floor. 2 big lamps for projection wall. Entrance yellow light glaring towards main floor.
MEDIA — difficulty coordinating with speaker presentation. Didn’t know how to do full screen from laptop. Ouch!
COAT CHECK — cold in winter. It’s a storage room with plastic hangers.

Came here for the Taste Talks lectures earlier this month. It’s an amazing loft space with so much potential for great events. The ceilings are high and the walls are a blank slate to have the most amazing backdrops. The hardwood floors are great as well.

What an incredible space for a wedding! I found Open Secret Studios when
performing a Google search on a snowy Saturday in February. When I called
Evelyn, she was like an old friend from the minute I met her. My husband and I
knew we would get married at Open Secret Studios within moments of seeing the
space. Evelyn’s creative spirit flows through the space, and her unique furniture
and décor make the space the perfect mix of quirky and sophisticated. The open
layout offers endless possibilities for your event, the high ceilings give the space
dimension and fabulous acoustics. The space has it’s challenges, there’s only one
bathroom and there isn’t an elevator, but we hired some incredible vendors to help
us make this space work for us. Be prepared to bring everything in, but the
vendors are up to you, which is a huge plus! I am proud to be one of the first to get
married at Open Secret Studios, you better hurry and check it out for yourself, now
that the secret is out :)

West Loop’s hidden gem! Open Secret Studio has an amazing floor plan, so unique from any other venue in the city. A true loft with amazing artistic touches, oh and it includes secured parking. I planned a beautiful wedding there for my couple this past September and was so happy to have it with the amazing background of Open Secret Studios. We had several vendor meetings there to insure that our plan could be executed without a hinge. Evelyn from Open Secret was open to this at every step. It has it’s challenges but ohmygoodness, it was FABULOUS! I love a blank canvas and a hidden gem, Open Secret Studios is that and more.

Beautiful space for events. I first saw the space when I went to a pop up sale here recently. Loved the loft space and convenient parking lot! A must see if you are hosting an event or photo shoot in Chicago.

A soaring, open, beautiful event space. So many options here, flexible floor plan for a myriad of uses. Downstairs even includes cooking quadrant and upstairs loft almost doubles the area and allows patrons a great view. The studio is so aptly named, so open and light filled. Truly an oases in the hectic big city.
