Walked in for quick bite to eat. Relaxing atmosphere and clean. Service was great and there was a good selection to choose from. I ordered the gyro platter($ 8.50) and my wife ordered the gyro meal. The food was excellent and tasted great. It was way more food than 2 people could eat. A great value!

Worst Delivery/Customer Service Experience Ever! Called in a large delivery at 12 noon, and was informed the expected delivery time was to 45 minutes to an hour. 10 minutes later the restaurant called to inform me they did not take American Express, and that we would need to enter our order over the web via Grub Hub. They informed me that the food was already being prepared and that the restaurant would streamline the two orders together. After we ordered online we received a notification that the order would be an additional hour! So I waited, as 2pm rolled around I called the restaurant. «The driver left 10 minutes ago, he should be there any minute» I waited… and waited, at 3pm the food finally showed up. The food wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be considering I placed the order three hours earlier. Numerous calls to the restaurant yielded no relief, and contact with Grub Hub got a $ 10 gift card. Overall unacceptable, and I’ll never order from this place again.

Restaurant review If you need a gyro fix this is your location in Streeterville. It is a lot nicer than Flamingo Grill and a little bit less expensive. I had walked by this location a few times and finally decided to give it a try. We came on a Friday night, pretty much empty except for carry out orders. We ordered and you have to wait a good 5 – 7 minute for your food to be prepared off the grill. I had the Mezza plate 9.95 which is a little bit of everything. The plus was it had a large variety so you could try the pork/chicken skewers, greek meat balls, feta cheese, and gryos. The downside is the greek meatballs were average sort of soft small balls of beef and you only get 1 pita that has been cut enough. You would think they could at least give you 2 piece of pita bread to put the protein in. The gyro meat is from kronos so you can’t go wrong, but a bit on the greasy side. The pork/chicken skewers were moist and not overdone. Overall you except a bit more of everything for the combo when you compare it to the gyro platter, but oh well. Still less than 10 dollar per person meal. Pro: combo deals(on the sign at the register) Cons: Mezza plate is small and only comes with one pita, slow service Hidden gem: Daily specials, check out my picture of that menu

A fabulous place to chill for lunch. :-) Very clean and open spaces, I will be back to try more on the menu.

DONOT — I repeat — DONOT order delivery from Old Chicago Grill. The first time I ordered from them was about a month after they opened. According to their website, I was in their free delivery zone. So I called and ordered. After the food was delivered I saw they charged me. When I called they said they used a service and they had to charge. No offer for credit. I told them it was on their site. SOL.(BTW — it still says they offer free delivery.) Tonight I decided to give them another chance via Seamless. MISTAKE. It just arrived almost TWOHOURSLATER. And I literally live right around the corner. They better find a different delivery service.

This little Greek diner certainly won brownie points on presentation; compared to many establishments serving similar fare, I found Old Chicago Grill clean and the high ceilings and Mediterranean décor was a welcome step up from the typical«greasy spoon» aesthetic. The lady at the counter was very friendly and my order was served quickly. The food itself was exactly what I was hoping for; my gyro was packed full with plenty of meat and just the right amount of sauce, and the pita was warm and soft. I also tried the Souvlaki, which was tender and seasoned well. Considering the price point($ 7.68 for a substantial gyro and a serving of Souvlaki with bread) it definitely exceeded my expectations! Note: the location is poorly marked and is NOT located between Wabash and State as Unilocal indicates. It’s(literally) hidden in the shadow of the large parking structure near Dearborn & Ohio. Happy hunting!

I really like this place. An independently owned Greek place in River North at this price point with good food did not exist until now. I used to trek all the way to Greektown for a good cheap-eat and no longer have to do so thanks to Old Chicago Grill. The food is good and the price point is great for River North. I think one of the main issues is the place is hard to see since their sign does not stick out and it is next to a parking structure. Anyhow if you are considering lunch or eating fast food, try Old Chicago Grill instead. I got a Gyro Combo(Gyro, Fries, and a Drink) for about $ 7 and it filled me up(and I am a big guy).

Nice gyro and specials, but the lady working at the cash register was a condescending snob. BOOM one star, treat paying customers with respect

I brought a bunch of guys here after a few rounds of karaōke because they were drunk and I was hungry. They all told me I was their favorite person after they ate. Service was kind of slow even though we were the only people present. However, I do appreciate that they’re open later on the weekends so my sober taste buds could enjoy some good food. I got a gyro which was served with a warm but somewhat crispy pita. The raw onions were a little too much so you might want to ask for less or pick a few off. They have giant screen TVs but when we were there, they were playing these awful exercise infomercials that were hilarious to my inebriated friends, but not particularly appetizing to me. Yay for late night TV?

This place is wonderful. Best gyro I’ve ever had and I am a gyro freak. The meat is delicious and the pita is PERFECT. The place is owned by an elderly Greek man who usually makes the food himself. The menu has a bevy of options and all I have tried are tasty. The gyros are the go to though. My group of 4 out of towners keep texting me about these gyros. I’m in there at least 2 – 3 times a week. Make a point to get there. Good people, classic mom and pop shop, food that will blow your mind. Literally my favorite spot in all of Chicago.

I usually don’t write Unilocal reviews, but this place is a great deal, which is unusual for River North. Beats out fast food and it’s one of the only Greek places in the area. We got gyros – no idea what this other reviewer is talking about; they are not dry. They just aren’t greasy like gyros at other places and I’m actually able to walk without feeling like there are bricks in my stomach. The place is clean and the décor(see photos) takes me back to my vacation in Santorini. Next time I come to OCG, I’d like to try the fisherman’s platter and keftedes. We had a little bit of trouble finding OCG because it is set back from the curb and next to a parking structure. It’s located on Ohio, near the corner of Ohio and Dearborn(on the north side of the street).

I order from this place with GrubHub when I’m too lazy to make breakfast on the weekends. It’s awesome because the food always gets to me at least 20 minutes before the quoted time, and it’s still hot and delicious. Bonus: the restaurant itself is not open on Sundays, but I just had food delivered! I was motivated to write this review because I had the life-changing pizza puffs. At only $ 2.95 each, these things are heaven in a little bag. I don’t understand how a Greek food place can conquer Italian flavors so well, but I love it. They are DEFINITELY worth the order! I’ve also had the Keftedes sandwich(meatballs), which is worth ordering and flavorful; the gyros platter — lots of food for your money, with the fries still crispy upon arrival; and the pita souvalaki, which is good but not my favorite dish. It just wasn’t as flavorful as the others. TL;DR — pizza puffs.

First, great gyros and souvlaki. The meat is high quality and the pita bread has that nice, warm yet crispy texture. But this new place also has a great ambiance — you can tell the owner has put a lot of effort into the nice décor. The tvs are also a nice touch. It isn’t the most visible restaurant so you have to look for it, but it’s great to finally have some respectable Greek fast food in River North. This is a welcome addition to the area.

I am so happy there’s a place with this menu in my hood! One of the best gyros I’ve had. Seriously tired of the same ol same ol Portillos/burgers/sandwiches with not enough ethnic food. This place has a little bit of everything, so you could come here and eat Greek food with your picky friends who insist upon a hot dog. And it’s open late night! Granted I’m probably not going to be out of the bars before it closes at 2am on a weekend, but if I’m up late on a weekday or have a chill Friday night and want to hit it up late, I’ll know I can get some good food late. It’s a bit tucked away so it’s not as visible from the street, but I’m going to patronize it as much as I can to ensure it’s there for a long time!

After constantly walking by the Old Chicago Grill we finally decided to grab some food and bring it back for lunch. This establishment is in a great location in the River North area and with all the businesses around, I was surprised that there wasn’t a line out the door to accommodate the lunch time crowd. Their menu is rather far reaching, ranging from Gyro’s and Pitas to Italian Beef and Pizza. We decided to grab a couple of Gyros and Chicken Kebabs. The gyros(combination of lamb and beef) was cooked nicely and had good flavor. They give you a good amount of meat for the price point. It was very filling. Make sure you get everything on the pita because all of the flavors work well together. The Chicken Kebabs were good, but not worth the $ 2 per kebab that they charge. The chicken was well flavored and a smidge over cooked, but it wasn’t that bad. But for the price, you would definitely expect a lot more than a few cubes of chicken on a stick. All in all, I’ll definitely be back to the Old Chicago Grill and check out the rest of their menu. Most items looked rather reasonable and tasty.

This place is a joke… my gyro platter sucked. The meat was dry and the fries were swimming in salt. Who pays 8.88 for a gyro plate in chicago. Ill charge this one to the game. Pita queen on clark is way better.

Walked here from my hotel looking for a gyro fix. The gyro itself was pretty tasty, and made to order which I appreciated. My only complaints were that the meat was a little on the salty side, and that they were a little skimpy on the sauce. I’d go back though for sure. I’d just ask for extra sauce next time. Oh and they’re open late which is a plus.

After being disappointed with the lack of gyro places in Streeterville for the past few months, I welcomed the chance to try this relatively new place out for lunch. First off, it’s clear that they are doing things the right way. Good variety of Greek diner food, made quickly for a reasonable price using fresh ingredients. I ordered the gyro meal, which comes with fries and a drink. The gyro was huge and delicious, as you would expect from the combo of spit-roasted lamb and beef. The one thing keeping it from the 4 star level is the tzatziki was not quite up to par. It was a little thin, and didn’t have things like chunks of cucumber, chopped garlic or herbs that make the best tzatzikis stand out. The fries were fresh and cooked perfectly, and as a bonus they give you a lot for the money. I will be back to try other items. Definitely a business worth supporting.
